Review summary
Embarkation was extremely fast. We arrived at the Port of Baltimore at 11:45 and were on the ship at 12:00. Our stateroom was ready at 1:00. We had a stateroom on the back of the ship, so our balcony was larger than most. Unfortunately, it was in bad need of paint and the deck chairs were dirty. We had to clean them before sitting on them. Our room steward was wonderful and anticipated our needs. Our dining staff was wonderful as well, but the food left a lot to be desired. The first night, I ordered a Black Angus Sirloin that I couldn't chew. One night I ordered Steak Oscar (as in Veal Oscar) and the steak was a thin steak you might get for breakfast at IHOP. They must not have served too many of them because the next day, the leftover steaks were made into Steak Parm. We ate a lot of pizza. Hamburgers left a lot to be desired. The escargot were wonderful. Room service was fast and friendly. The bartenders were friendly and remembered your name if you were there more than once. My favorite drink was a Key Lime Pie martini. The casino was good. Our daughter is 18, so she was able to try her hand at gambling. She was the only one of the three of us to win anything. We really enjoyed playing the 6-seat electronic black jack machine. The singers and dancers were ok. Their microphones seemed to be too loud for the music. The shows were so so. Bingo was full of kids running around as was everything else. The only time I didn't see kids running around was in the dining room. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves, but will probably stick to Holland America or Celebrity in the future. We may take another cruise on Royal Caribbean, but it would be when school is in session, since they don't seem to try to control the children.Ports of call
Pros: Being at sea which actually has nothing to do with the ship
Cons: Kids running wild everywhere. They took over the ship. What happened to children's programs? They took over the pool, hot tubs, and pool chairs. They ran wild at art auctions and bingo. They banged on the piano in the Viking Crown Lounge during what was called Quiet Time.
