Awesome cruise by lmwinter13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Loved this cruise! Absolutely wonderful ship and itinerary. The food was okay. Heard from multiple people that were on our cruise that they had cruised that same ship in March 2014 and the food has gone down hill since then. They called the ship food golden corral level. If you are cruising on this ship soon, i would suggest you eat in the great gatsby dining room as much as possible. The food is better there and you can always check out the buffet if you don't like what's being served in the gatsby.

Grandeur of Seas. by thkennedy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

No handicapped parking.  When you have a titanium hip, good parking is essential.  The parking attendants were not helpful.

Excursions were not handled properly.  Had to wait over an hour to embark on San Juan excursion.  Then there was very little exhibition.

To much between deck noise after 11PM.  Constant dragging of furniture across deck 9, all night long.

The proposed charge for Internet connectivity was outrageous.  I have been on many cruises and river cruises where connectivity was either gratis or 20% of the proposed charges.

EXCELLANT EXPERIENCE by lewisnassoc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Very friendly, considerate and helpful employees. The ship is kept very clean and safety for

all aboard is uppermost. This cruise we met the most friendly passengers of any cruise.

We believe this is because the friendly employees make for the passengers being friendly

to everyone. Choice of ports was important to us and Royal did not disappoint.

1st and last Royal Carribean by fopus1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Old ship, needs updating!! Poor service(never saw room steward until 2nd day)It took two days to get ice.

All food was either cold or lukewarm at best . Room service ice cold. Buffet -poor selection and not very hot. They ran out of milk and bananas after 5 days and only fruit was honeydew or cantaloupe or what looked like canned peaches. Entertainment was also poor.. Only good night was 70's night and everyone was crammed in the centrum for most shows. Getting on you had to climb ramps about 4stories.CRAZY. Elevators were held for luggage and even next days were hard to get. We ordered wine on three occasions and were told they were out but had a higher priced one. They gough you for everything. Water$5-Drinks-$2-12 or more. Some food on dinner menu was extra. We do not care to go on RC again.

Great Cruise by loucksdc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship is a smaller ship, but is very nice.  It does not give you the WOW factor when you walk on, but the service and amenities that the ship has will quickly make up for that.  The crew members are extremely friendly and will make sure that everything you wish for is taken care of quickly.  All of the ports that we stopped at were very nice and the excursions were all fun.  The food and shows were outstanding.

My 'Wonderful Cruise Exsperience by akaBUNNY

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My first time on the cruise was a wonderful experience. The rooms were bit small but reasonable,  kept very clean. The staff was kind and friendly, I made every single day memorable  for myself. The exercise dancing on the deck, the gym facility was great, The food, the dinning and buffet was great. I met people from different states. I enjoyed shopping at Key West FLORIDA the weather was terrific there and the Bahamas. I and a friend toured The bottom glass boating in Bahamas it wasn't what I expected certainly not worth the price, because the boat wasn't very clean and the steps were a bit steep for all the passengers especially for the disable when taking you up and down stairs to see the fish in bottom of the sea . The glass could have been clearer to look out. However the gentlemen on board was very nice and we were able to stand outside the boat and see the beauty of the water and land as we got the 411 on the different properties etc. I enjoyed seeing the different fish. I enjoyed the cookout  on the Island. I enjoyed so much and I might add I toured as much of the boat as I could last but not least the Broad Way Show was amazing on board. I'M SO GREATFUL FOR THIS OPPITUNITY. AND HOPE TO ENJOY MY LIFE MORE SAILING ETC.

Not the WOW experience of RCI by robinwood1993

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Old ship and even tho it had a $50+ million update in 2012 it still shows its age.  Do not get an inside room, even the "Large" is only 145 sq ft.  UGH.  This crew was ok, but not the happy, friendly crews we have had recently   on Brilliance and Liberty of the seas.  The ships entertainment crew were sub par and the music was so loud everywhere, it hurt your hearing.

it was ok by rcsbrs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Stateroom cramped, bathroom ridiculously tiny. We paid for an upgrade balcony stateroom, it was barely adequate. The staff is very good, especially our service in the dining room. Food in the DR was fine, but the portions are very small - good thing you can order all of what you want. RC has cut back considerably in recent years. This was our 2nd cruise on G of the S, and items that were included before are now extra. We felt like they were nickel and diming us all the time, from the time we arrived until the time we left it was a constant sales job. Very annoying. Excursions were adequate but nothing special. Might be better off buying your tours right from the locals in town. They blocked internet service also. If you want to get to your email or use the web you have to buy their very expensive wifi package. Lastly, the G of the S does not handle rough seas as well as larger ships. You should consider larger vessel out of Jersey or NY if that matters to you.

Pros and Cons of Fall Foliage cruise by lindiron

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We took this cruise the final week it is offered; it was too late for any fall foliage, so the title was a misnomer. The cruise was  filled with those using canes, walkers, wheelchairs &/or motorized scooters.. very few younger cruisers were aboard. Those thinking about taking this particular cruise should be forewarned about both these facts.

The ship is a fine one and the staff is terrific- to a fault, each one is wonderful. The entertainment was first class every night. The meals were innovative...a different countries' theme each evening, and overall was very good.

In short I would recommend taking this cruise early in the season. Although I enjoyed the trip I would not take it again.

Excellent Cruise - Staff very friendly and helpful! by pfiske

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The Cruise On Royal Caribbean -Grandeur of the Seas was smooth sailing from the time we left our hotel - entered the boarding area --- boarded the ship and first drink in our hand! Everyone was very friendly and helpful! Lunch was ready and hot in the Windjammer Restaurant. An abundance of choices were offered to please any pallet. Our cabin was ready and waiting for us by 1:00 PM and our luggage was there when we entered the cabin.

Music was playing all around the ship - it was very lively and welcoming! The Cruise Director and Staff had activities ready for all on the ship once we did the mandatory safety drill before setting sail at 4:00 PM.  The Entertainment, Food and People were all top notch on this cruise. The Dining Room Staff went above and beyond to please you and meet your every need! I highly recommend the specialty restaurants - Giovanni Italian Restaurant and Chops Steak House even though we didn't want to leave our regular servers both nights we really enjoyed both restaurants thoroughly!

All in All I would give this cruise a 10 out of 10!  We had a great time on board the Grandeur of the Seas!

50/50 by ezlife101

Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Great value yet you forfeit what we're use to in ship size, shows, and activities.  We made the best of what was offered on the ship and had a good time.  The crew I must say was outstanding (cruise director certainly made some very memorable experiences for our family)  Lacking was feeling like the shows were geared to an older crowd 70ish and certainly not the Los Vegas shows we've become use to seeing on the other cruise lines.  It's a toss up, Value verses subpar shows... If you are into the older things (shows etc.)  smaller ships go for it!  If new technology is what you like, this ship is not for you!  RCI has a new ship out Quantum out that is far more our speed, that's the one we'll be looking at next!

Would do again. by Gem0502

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Trip was great. It appeared that the ship was not at full capacity.  There were no lines or crowds throughout the trip.  The staff was courteous and professional however, I did not find them to be as friendly as the staff on other RC ships.  There was nothing that stood out as exceptional as on other ships, there was.  Chops Grille was fantastic and would definitely book again.  Baltimore port is easy getting in and out of - pleasurable experience.  Bermuda was great this time of year (although we sailed through a tropical storm and bounced around for about 12 hours).  Due to the ease of departure, the port of call and the price, I would definitely do this cruise again.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

We had the most amazing time.  Our representative was always available to answer all of our questions or concerns.  She called us before we left and also followed up with us when we returned.  The cruise was fabulous.  The food was good and plentiful and the entertainment was so much fun.  Always something to do for everyone.  This was by far, the best vacation I have ever taken.

8 Night Canada & New England by jumpforjoy23

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Food was just average on this cruise compared to other cruises that I have taken.  I loved the ease of leaving from Baltimore since I live nearby.  Two of the four ports weren't worth stopping at (Portland, ME and New Brunswick).

SAD by lterry345

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

I have been on several Carnival cruises, this one being our first R.C cruise. After looking so forward to spend a relaxing and enjoyable cruise, we were very disappointed.  We had always been told how much more class R. C. cruiseline had than the others we had been on.  The food was ok, but whish there had been more selection available after the dinning rooms closed. It just was not what was expected.

Also there was not much on board for the old teens to do. And not much that sparked the interest of my husband either. It seemed if you were not a gambler or a drinker, you had to wait until you got to the island to find fun things to do.

Overall as a family, I think it is safe to say: we probably will not be taking another R.C. cruise anytime soon.

very nice crew by NormaJohnson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

While the Grandeur didn't live up to it's name, the crew were very nice & accomodating. Had this been my first cruise, my expectations wouldn't have been so high. But having cruised before on Carnival, I was disappointed with the ship & what it had to offer. The rooms are very small, the food selection & availability weren't great, amenities I expected (such as body wash, lotion, etc.) in the room weren't available except upon request. I understand that due to accessibilty to Baltimore's port, only this size ship can be utilized and because this is an older ship (1998) a lot of what I expected wasn't feasible, however, some upgrades would be appreciated and are much needed. Overall, I enjoyed the trip to Bermuda (although getting there at 3:00 pm & leaving at 11:30 am, didn't allow as much time on the island as I would have liked).
