Excellent Cruise by CuriseLover

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

I had good time at the Grandeur of the Seas cruise, excellent trip!

The only thing is that I feel some unfairness for some staff who worked very hard to bring enjoyment to us, but not recognized. For example, Andre Miller had created so many fun programs, and he should be senior staff member, but his name and photo does not appear on the Staff Board.

Hope the mistake will be corrected.

Thanks!

I Do Not Recommend to ANYONE!!!!! by jop1019

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Since this was a 50th Wedding Anniversary Cruise, we wanted special, more intimate dining. So, on the first night, in the Main Dining Room, we asked for a table for 2 (this option was not available on the registration form, only which seating we wanted.) we were told we had to take the table assigned because there were none left. We then went to the "My Time" Dining Room and were told that they couldn't seat us because we already had an assigned seat in the Main Dining Room. We then went to "Customer Service" and were told they couldn't help us either and made no effort to try to accomodate us. Since we were NOT WELCOME in the Dining Room (or My Time Dining Room) on the first night, we chose to eat in our room or in the Windjammer the ENTIRE Cruise.  There is such a limited menu for room service, there is hardly a choice and it ALWAYS came cold. (We still tipped generously) The Windjammer, with a few exceptions, offers the same tasteless, mixed up foods, many of which were frozen foods. There is no service of any kind at The Windjammer.  The drinks are so watered down, that you can't even recognize them as tea or lemonade.  We got a pre-paid soft drink package for my husband but the 3 Coke and Diet Coke dispensing machines were often empty.  The Tee Shirt Sale on the last day was extremely disorganized, crowded, HOT and slow. The embarking and disembarking procedures were very fast and well organized. The ONLY service we received was from our room attendant, Anneyi.  She was awesome. We have been on many cruises on other lines and this is the 3rd RCCL cruise we have taken and have had very good experiences with all but this one. I definitely would not recommend this cruise.

Great family time, OK cruise. by sunny569741479

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The service in the dining room was great. The ship is showing its age. There were very few bar waiters on the ship. The ship intermittently smelled of sewage , and diesel fuel.

We were in a juinor suite on the back of the ship. Great, huge balcony. The balcony became covered with large pieces of ash and debris that would stain. The ash was too large to have come from cigarettes. It either came from the incinerator or the engine exhaust.

The worse part of the 7th floor cabin was the crew lounge that was on the fourth floor, outside. It was very loud with dance music until 0200. On balcony it was as if the dj was right next to us. The bass was very loud in the room. We called to. Complain, but they didn't address it. And this was a lounge for crew only. Don't  get a Jr suite.

Great Itinerary, Great Crew by wtaboas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Really enjoyed the cruise.  It is one of the smaller ship in the RCCL, but it feels intimate and very personal service.  I traveled with wife, son and his girlfriend.  We all enjoyed the cruise very much, Food was great and Service was exceptional.  Highly recommend.

Great cruise except for Bathroom by jafinn99

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

My favorite part of the cruise was the food, entertainment, and cabin service.  The worst part of the cruise was the bathroom and beds.  The bathroom in a so-called "large" oceanview cabin was small and the shower stall was even smaller.  The longer twin beds sunk in the middle.  After the first night, I woke up each night with a sore back and legs.  Only after I returned home did I realize my pain was due to the beds in the cabin.  After my first night sleeping in my own bed at home, my pain disappeared.

Happy staff and fellow cruisers by lkellyca

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The downsides of a smaller ship were predictable....crowded buffet and pool, but the happy staff made up for it. Everyone who works on the ship is proud of it. The pride was infectious. LaToya who runs the on-board Starbucks is a goddess. Shout out to her...

Excellent Cruise Experience on Grandeur of the Seas by ellieforgach

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Favorites:

Food in Great Gatsby dining room was excellent and also appreciated the many choices in the Windjammer Café

Thoroughly enjoyed all the shows & entertainment, especially the comedians; Paul & Andre were excellent in their roles; their enthusiasm was contagious

Service was excellent including wait staff & stateroom attendants

Improvements suggested:

Offerings at the Solarium Café (Park Café) were a little disappointing

Self-serve beverage dispensers with complimentary iced tea & lemonade were often empty, especially lemonade was often not available/not refilled on a regular basis

Poor choice on location of QUEST game - venue was too small & not able to accommodate everyone who wanted to attend.  I saw people leaving because they couldn't find a spot to sit/stand & heard many comments about 'overcrowding'.

Bermuda in July by teriincary

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Bermuda is beautiful with the amazing warm aqua waters, pink sand and changes in terrain.  The island is very clean and safe.  People are very friendly and laid back.  There is no pushy natives attempting to sell their goods.  That said, the weather in July is hot and humid.  Food, transportation and shopping are very expensive.  Fish and Chips at a local outdoor tavern runs about $25.

The ship got into port around 1 pm and left the next day at 2 pm.  There was not a true full day to enjoy the island.  I took a mini van tour the 1st day and went to the beach the 2nd day.  This cruise ship is one of RCL's oldest although rooms have been updated.  It was small and outdoor pool and deck was very crowded especially with children.  I would guess they don't have many activities to keep children entertained so it is up to parents and other guests.  The solarium is adults only but the roof is glass and does not open so there is absolutely no breeze in there.  It felt like being in a greenhouse.

Great Cruise from a Convenient Port by TampaCruiser21

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

It was great to drive 20 minutes and hop on board a great ship like Grandeur of the Seas. From the moment we entered the parking lot until we left 10 days later, the experience was seamless and pleasurable.

The crew and staff of the Grandeur are experienced professionals. Captain Ante has done a great job of running a very good ship. He was very engaged and has done a great job.

The entertainment and food was excellent. The ports were interesting and the tours provided were extensive and educational. The cruise lecturer - Bill Rickett - provided enjoyable lectures.

I will definitely go on another cruise on the Grandeur and will recommend to friends and family.

Grand cruise! by fladdair4502

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This was our first cruise and we were not disappointed!  I am having a hard time saying what was our favorite part because it was amazing from start to finish. The service from the crew was terrific, we felt like royalty. The food was outstanding!  The shows and entertainment were great! We did have trouble getting to a couple because they didn't work with our dining time.  The port of Nassau was not our favorite place but Bermuda and Cococay were beautiful and fun!!  Not only would I recommend Royal Carribean for the best cruise line and the Grandeur of the Seas the best ship, but I am hoping we get to cruise with her again!!!!

Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The quality of the food and food service was excellent . The nightly entertainment was outstanding . The ship was an older Royal, but it was a fantastic cruise. This was my first Royal Caribbean cruise and my best experience. I've made 10 other cruises ( Norwegian ,Carnival and celebrity). I highly recommend Royal Lines.

Excellent 1st cruise by jwdevalue20

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This was my first cruise and not knowing what to expect I was could not be more happier. From the excellent staff who knew our names from day 1 too the awesome food choices including the three restaurants. We were never hungry and our drinks were always filled. The room attendants were always courteous and had our rooms cleaned every day and turn down service was great. We loved the days at port including CocoCay (bring your ownsnorkel equipment  you will be in the water all day long). Amazing views every night and lots to do during the days at sea. RC really set the bar high for me on this trip and I am already looking to book another with them. Enjoy your trip I am sure you will have the same experience we did.

wonderful experience by markcarrigg271

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Bermuda was beautiful.  The Bahamas was  congested, some construction and kind of dirty and rundown  around the port. Cococay was beautiful and well kept. The ship and the staff were neat, clean and very nice. The ship was very pretty. The food was great and plentiful.  Wonderful experience.

Anniversary Cruise on Grandeur of the Seas by treed06

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

My wife and I were celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary. We picked the cruise because we wanted to spend time together and to relax. This trip definitely provided that. We enjoyed the days at sea to unwind. The cruise had plenty of entertainment and something for everyone. We enjoyed our trip to Bermuda. It is a beautiful island and the people are very friendly. Would definitely love to visit Bermuda again. Ship is older and doesn't have some features of newer ships. This was not a problem for us. This was our first cruise with Royal Caribbean. It was a pleasant experience and would consider cruising with them again.

What we learned to ask - next time! by kmarino61

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Generally speaking, this was a good cruise - the time on Bermuda was fabulous. We have two general comments - that we wish we would have asked about during the planning stages.

1.  The ship was a bit smaller than most and there wasn't a whole lot of teen activities - we have 3 teens and the time at sea got to be long for them.

2.  The drink packages.  We were approached to purchase drink packages before we got on the ship.  We were excited to be starting our adventure and apparently didn't quite understand the full cost of the packages we purchased.  We purchased the $20 "regular" package for our kids - but every time they attempted to get their "cups" filled - the machines were empty - so they didn't drink $20 per day.  My husband and I purchase the $70 "ultimate" package - there is no way we could possibly drink $70 of anything each day.  We thought we were purchasing these packages ($20 and $70) for the entire time - not a per day charge.  If someone one told us:  as suite members - we received free drinks on the concierge lounge, and the kids had access to drinks (lemonade, milk, water) anyway - we wouldn't have spent over $1,000 on drink packages.  This is disturbing because there were many places along the way where someone could have contacted us and said, "We see you're not using your packages to their full potential, are you sure this is the package for you?"  Our sea pass cards were swiped every single time we used them for drinks - so "someone" knew what we were spending.
