It was a beautiful cruise. by JA1893

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We really enjoyed our cruise. As I said we did the cruise in 2016. Really the highlight was being upgraded to a suite. We enjoyed all the perks that come with a suite. I’m already looking for another.

Alaska was amazing!! by erbriones0405

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The cruise was amazing - no issues leaving out of San Francisco. Visiting Alaska is a must. Nothing really in Haines so you would need to go on an excursion. I would go again!!

Must-see Alaska by Nandez04

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

My only complaint was that traveling with two kids who aren't strong swimmers, the pools are too deep. All of the main pools are 5-7 feet deep which is way too deep for young kids. An adult would have to hold them the whole time. The only pool onboard that was 3 feet deep was an adult-only pool.

I did not know Princess was owned by Carnival. Will stick to Royal Caribbean brands from now on.

Great Ports, Not So Great of a Ship by khhuntclub

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Let's start with the embarkation - it was ridiculous. The porters refused to take luggage from those people in the front of the line. Instead, they went further down the line and took luggage only from those individuals that were holding out enough money to (apparently) deem it worth their time. Because of that, the line moved very slowly. The food on the ship was mediocre compared to other cruises that we have taken. Ship cleanliness was unacceptable - there were foul odors in various parts of the ship the entire 10 days. Onboard activities and entertainment were very substandard, especially for a cruise that has 6 days at sea. Frequently, there were no meaningful activities taking place. The bands and DJ were the worst that we've ever experienced on a cruise. The Security personnel on this ship were rude, and were making poor decisions. They would open and close gangways at will, creating large backups as people were trying to get off the ship for excursions. Although I never saw any passengers creating trouble, I saw the security personnel consistently being rude to most passengers. Rudeness by any department on a cruise ship should be completely unacceptable - but apparently is not on the Grand Princess. This was our first Princess cruise, and it did not leave us wanting to go on another one - we'll stick with NCL, who provides a consistently great experience.

Family Trip by KMeyer11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

HIGHs: The interior rooms were nicely arranged; the bottom beds were *SO* comfortable; 99.9% of the staff were absolutely fabulous; the spa services were fabulous; the coffee shop beverages were consistently good; afternoon tea was such a lovely treat each day, with great service and tasty sandwiches and treats; our seated dinner came with a variety of options which were usually very good; the pizzeria on deck 5 was great; movies on the deck were a lot of fun and the blankets they provided were a nice touch. LOWs: There was an issue with the tender boats in Ketchikan, so were were left waiting in line for 3 hours in the sun without any communication from someone from Princess; as an apology, they offered everyone on board a drink coupon that had a maximum of $9.99 and excluded premium alcohol -- seriously?! My SPF 50 didn't hold up after hours in the sun, and this was the "compensation"? Also, the internet manager on our boat, Mr. Danilo Cudic, was rude and unhelpful to a few different family members, including myself, on different occasions. Additionally, the food was hit or miss, especially in the buffet (Horizon Court) and in the International Cafe (Deck 5).

Grand Princess tender in Ketchikan was a total mismanaged disaster. Worst experience on a tender situation ever.

An amazing vacation! by murdawg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was the fastest 10 day vacation I have ever spent. The food and service was exceptional. The activities on board and the excursions on shore were well planned and fun. The comedy show was hilarious and the other musical and nature shows on board were all great. There was so much to do and eat having an awesome time was unavoidable.

My first Alaska cruise trip by lamy1263

Grand Princess needed to upgrade their food choices, can't have same thing day after day. We have so many different type of people on board, then should more selections.

North to Alaska by sunrock

You could be as busy as you wanted or not. The cruise went as planned. We even had an emergency air lift of a passenger to the nearest hospital without a hiccup.

Experience for first time cruise with Grand Princess by li9wang

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I loved the cruise, especially Glacier Bay. The whole cruise was marred by my dining experience. Since we can't eat in dining rooms until after 8pm we missed the shows we really wanted to attend. The food in Horizon sucks. Meats are overcooked and selections are poor. I had to eat breakfast and lunch in Horizon since i was assigned anytime dinning even though I requested 1st seating. I was shooed away by the MaitreD of Boticelli and Da Vinci because I was assigned anytime dinning. This was not my first cruise but the first with Princess line. I was never treated as a second class diner on my other cruises. Anytime dinning means I choose the time to eat but not only after 8pm and definitely not qualified to have sit down breakfast and lunch. I do not enjoy buffet dinning at all.

Wonderful Cruise by egbryantiii

The ship needs some touching up. We were late disembarking in Ensenada and San Francisco but otherwise it was a very good time and we are glad that we went on it.

Good by lynn6695

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Hawaii

The cruise went well after we got something straightened out with management. An elderly women on a motorized scooter ran into the back of my daughter's leg 3 TIMES because of not being familiar on how to drive the scooter and because of so many people being confined in such a small area for the muster drill. The ship's personal didn't want to take any responsibility for the incident. Of a matter of fact they were very rude about it until I called my daughter who is an attorney. After that things were settled and the rest of the cruise went well. My daughter still experienced pain at times, but we all got through it.

Disaster by natalya38

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Hawaii

Big disappointment for a big money. This is the last time my friend and I are going to sail with this particular ship. The biggest problem (I have already the FOOD PROBLEM couple years ago on the cruise to Mexico resorts) is an adequate chefs. It looks you are having the problem to find the right chef for Grand Princess.
