Great cruise despite bad weather. by PamelaMonroe

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Weather was so bad we couldn't pull in to first port Labadee and everything was handled efficiently with port taxes and excursion refunds made within hours.  We had an extended stay in San Juan and arrangements were made for another excursion while there.  Best ATV excursion ever! Did Galley brunch and tour and they booked too many - too congested and not worth the money charged. Disembarking was not good. All bags were not in place before we got there to pick up.  It was chaotic. Happy

First time cruisers by lezann9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Over all we had a very pleasant experience. I will touch on areas that need improvement. One being the room service. The quality of the breakfast food was very disappointing. Fake scrambled eggs, a brick of hash browns, limply undercooked bacon and no English muffin which was ordered. The next morning we just ordered coffee and toast. That came 1/2 hour earlier than requested. And no jam which was ordered. At this point we figured we were being discouraged from ordering room service. Communication between all the different ethnic backgrounds was a challenge as well. We missed a few shows, but the ones we caught were very enjoyable. True talent especially when you realize they are preforming on a floating surface. The off shore experiences were mixed. I felt I got ripped off after leaving Diamonds International. High pressure sales with promises of high quality merchandise did not pan out very well when one of the bracelets broke after one wearing. Too bad , ship took off and no way to go back. We missed our excursion at Costa Maya because of the utter confusion of the market area and language barrier in trying to find our tour meeting place. Cozemul was excellent and easy to find. Grand Caymam another excellent excursion and easy to find. We had great weather and great company. We attended a wedding in the little chapel on the ship with the Capatin. Very nice !

Our first cruise by arcovitch5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and decided to go on a cruise. The service was spectacular. The food was great and the entertainment was awesome. I have encouraged my coworkers and friends that if they get a chance to take a cruise then they should do it.

Bad Food and cleanliness problem by deanrich2003

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The only good food on the ship was the mexican restaurant and italian restaurant  I've sailed on the Oasis twice and the Allure once and the food is fantastic.  Stewarts are not doing a good job cleaning the rooms. Especially the bathrooms.  So disappointed.  We sailed on many ships and  I've always preferred Royal Caribbean but now not sure.

Great Trip to the Caribbean by arthurmarcus

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This last trip went very well. The weather was great, the service on the ship was fantastic, the food was excellent as well as the entertainment. The ship itself is beautiful and the stops the ship made were good. Labadie is great for swimming  and the BBQ was excellent. Best bet to shop is the "flee market". Prices are marked and no haggling is required. If you like to barter go behind the shops and do your thing. Puerto Rico is always enjoyable and for $10.00 you can get a tour of old and new San Juan. St Martin and St Kitts is great for shopping and beaches. Watch the monkeys on St Kitts they will charge to take a picture with the dirty monkey's. Good shopping on the ship. Doris Swager was excellent is setting up the trip and her follow-up..

Will not sail Freedom Again by FnPcruising

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our dining room waiter Cesar was fabulous! Bright, personable, efficient, knowledgeable, engaged...really made a favorable impression! Overall, tho, we were UNDERWHELMED by the Freedom...apparently the ship was renovated in January 2015 adding nearly 800 more passengers without additional gathering spaces! Too crowded--Sea days most chairs claimed by 8 AM! Slow and crowded elevators, ho-hum entertainment except for ice show and production (MARQUEE). Limited places to eat; ate at Chops..poor service, so/so food, Dining room Food: c+, for some reason could only get roast beef either medium rare or medium well? How odd! Scooners Bar used for trivia at cocktail hour ... frustrating! Slow disembarkation without explanation of delay.

This was our third cruise on Royal Caribbean and we had a wonderful time.  This was our first time cruising with young children and were very impressed with the Adventure Club and activities for children onboard.

Relaxation and Fun by FrederickLevin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The cruise was very relaxing. The people delightful.

The hot food could be a lot hotter.

I traveled by myself & although only ate & used facilities on the ship as "1" person, I was caused to pay the price for "2" people!

There should & could be an allowance for traveling single!

Too Many Passengers, Bad Cruise Line by krisallfrey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The food in the main dining room was cold on most nights. The ship was way over booked with more than 5300 passengers. The crew was overwhelmed by the number of passengers. We also learned that Royal Caribbean is giving third parties personal financial information of the purchases you make on the ship. I take my privacy very seriously and will probably never sail on another Royal Caribbean Cruise due to this breach of trust and flagrant violation of US Privacy Laws. The pier staff at Port Everglades were very overwhelmed. We were flagged by US Customs because of fraudulent reporting by Royal Caribbean to US Customs. The Royal Caribbean Employee made it her mission to almost yell that we are being detained by US Customs on 4 different occasions while escorting us to Customs. The Royal Caribbean Employee was also trying to separate our family do to the mistake they made in reporting to customs. They offered no apology for the whole ordeal and no one in their corporate office will even speak with us about the incident. It simply appears that Royal Caribbean has grown to big and no longer cares about individual passengers just their bottom line. I would suggest looking at other cruise lines and avoiding Royal Caribbean at all cost.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise. It was awesome. Freedom of the Seas was a great ship. Lots to do. Friendly staff. Nothing negative except even for a 7 day cruise it was too short. LOL had so much fun we didn't want to get off.

I was disappointed in a number of the policy's that Royal Caribbean has instituted most importantly the internet usage policy. In the past you could pay for usage as used or requested now you only have one internet option package.

I felt the lounge entertainment was sorely lacking from past RC cruises.

RC used to provide a daily News paper update. When I inquired they said only available on TV which I found totally inadequate.

Great Cruise by LMK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our 5th Cruise.  We enjoyed all of the ports and our excursions we planned.   We have cruised on the Independence of the Seas-which is the sister ship to Freedom.  Our room was facing the front of the ship on the 12th floor.  Very nice room - lots of storage space, great view, etc.  The only bad thing I have to say about the room was it seemed to have more swaying with the ship being in the front.  You felt more movement.  We were a little disappointed in the shows and lack of parades.  We did not go to any of the big shows - not our interest.  We did go to a few other shows like Love and Marriage.  For us, we choose My Time dining and we did have some problems getting in to eat before a show.  We missed some shows because of that. I would probably do it different next time with My Time dining.  Otherwise, we all really liked the ports and excursions.  One last thing to comment on is we think there should be a change in the excursions.  Some of the people on the excursions would be sort of rude and not listen to the hosts.  They took as long as they wanted and made everyone wait.  The change I think should happen is they stick to the time frame and it people are not ready or etc - leave without them.  One excursion was suppose to be 3 hours but ended up being over 4 hours and some of the people on the excursion had other excursions planned and they missed it.  Otherwise the excursion were a lot of fun.  Take the cruise and have fun!!

8 night cruise by johnhb56

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We really enjoyed arriving at the destinations and going on the excursions, We snorkeled, sailed, kayaked and toured. In Labadee we had a nice private beach area at the far end of the property. The only problem with that is that there are no showers or faucets to clean yourself or feet of the sand and salt. My feet were all scratched from walking back to the ship. The beach was awesome though!

Using the hot tubs and pools. Enjoyed the snorkel tours. As always enjoyed eating especially in the dinning room, the Wind Jammer was good also. Loved going to the casino even though I did not win money.

Wouldnt do again, sticking with Norweigan by brigitte92888

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

is a nightmare to book a cruise on, spend months arguing about payments and things that were supposed to be on our account but werent listed, it was easier with every other cruise to book directly through the cruise site. Everyhting was a 30 minute phone call, and if you dont get someone directly from the cruise section expect them to not know anything and tell you your reservation does not exist.

Our fist experience was a bust,

then when it comes to royal Caribbean, your food options after 11 are tiny sandwiches and not so good pizza.

Also we spent 4 days arguing about our  credit we got for booking and other credits that were supposed be there but weren't. Missed shows, missed dinners because we were either at the front desk or waiting in out room for someone to call us back at a designated time.

As for dining......we could only get reservestions for 730 ish every night and it takes about 2 hours to dine so this means we missed the 7pm show to eat dinner, we missed the 9pm because we were already at dinner and wouldnt make it on time OR we missed dinner to see a show. Those were pretty much our only options. we tried to make it to a show a little after 9 when we got out, but we could only stand in the back.

Didnt end up buying anything onboard, gift shop didnt have much of anything other than keychains and 8 different cups.

Birthday cruise by paradisefla

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We love the Freedom of the Seas, we have sailed on it five times, we especially like cabin 7408  with its specious balcony.    Our Stateroom attendant was very helpful and accommodating.  The service at my time dining was so professional, we stayed with the same table each night.  As always the food was great.

Smooth Cruising by Cruisevet91

For me the greatest part of the cruise was the fabulous weather combined with calm seas.  This combination provided for a very relaxing and enjoyable cruise experience.
