Review summary

Loved it and cannot wait to go again. First cruise. The ship was amazing. The staff were so friendly. Having auto immune issues and being immune supressed, I was wary of infection whilst away. Not a problem, the health safety on this ship and at port is outstanding. Best trip of a lifetime. Can't wait to do the next one

Embarkation

Having some mobility issues I was escorted straight up to the counter ahead of a long line along with my partner. Made the process much quicker and painfree.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main dining room was fantastic. Special attention to my dietry needs. Never had an empty glass and food was tasty and cooked to perfection. Buffet food was mostly fresh, great variety and staff were very attentive and helpful. Chops Grille is 5 star dining. Amazing food, excellent service. Giovannis is very intimate, can be quite busy but does not fail to bring exquisitely tasty italian food and desserts. Service is great.

Onboard Activities

Pools were great. Spas were sometimes too hot! But attendants were more than helpful to assist where they could. Games on the courts were fun to watch, dodgeball, volleyball and basketball. Mini golf was fun, grass can get a bit smelly when its been raining though. Rockclimbing looked fun but I didn't venture up it. Same with the Flowrider. Always busy with someone riding the waves.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Stage shows were mostly outstanding. Singers, dancers, guest performers and more. The DJ was great in various areas. Musicians were very good. Favorite was the reggae band. Really relaxing by the pool or pub listening to these carribean sounds.

Children's Programs

No children onboard with me

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Ecceptional service in all areas. Never too much for our attendants to see to our requests. My only negative is the pressure to purchase vitality spa products after the appointment.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Always clean. Toilets were constantly being attended and checked over for cleanliness. Easy to get to either end of the ship via main decks. Just a bit of a wait for elevators at times.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Always clean. More spacious than first expected. The virtual balcony screen was a great addition. We could see a view from the ship when docked or arriving/leaving ports. If I felt a bit sea sick I just pulled the curtains closed. Made me feel not so confined having the screen there to see outside. Shower although small is fantastic, except not able to make water cool enough after a hot day. The bed is soooo comfortable.

Ship tip

Make sure you have bottled water in your room. Especially for those times during the night you may wake up thirsty, it's not like you can just go to the kitchen and get a drink.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

Gorgeous city I didn't really get an opportunity to see much of Seattle. Next time.

Honolulu, Oahu

We did the Pearl Harbour tour. Was great and the bus tour guide was funny and informative. We also did the Germaines Luau. This was far to commercialised. The seating area was very uncomfortable as they were only bench seating to fit as many people as they could. The seats were quite high off the ground so not so good for short people such as me. We were told 3 drinks included on purchase but then advised only 1 drink by operator. Beautiful, walking distance to many places. Easy to get local trolley or shuttles around town

Lahaina, Maui

Spent the day at our leisure. Went by local shuttle to outlet stores. Made our way back to port walking along the esplanade. Great place, friendly people. Lunched at Cool Cat Cafe which was excellent. Had a short wait for a table, but after that was fast service and great food.

Not a port but cool celebrations on board!

Lautoka, Fiji Islands

Had our tour changed from afternoon to morning. We went to the thermal mud pools. It was sooo good. Very welcoming, lovely traditional song and meeting with chief. Unexpected relaxing massage after soaking in the pool. Showers and toilets were not so good though. Either out of order or not working properly. But we all managed. Fresh watermelon and pineapple was delicious. Very friendly people here. Did some local shopping afterwards. Felt a bit unsafe in town. Lots of shady looking people unfortunately.

Suva, Fiji

Locals are friendly but quite pushy to sell tours etc. Can be overwhelming. Did a private tour and felt a bit nervous, but with 6 other couples I was a little more assured of safety in numbers. Firewalking tour from ship was excellent. Very welcoming and informative and interactive.

Mystery Island, Vanuatu Did not visit port

Medical Emergency onboard

Lifou Isle, New Caledonia

We did the secret grotto tour. It was a very small cave, lots of standing time on tour, very humid. Very short walk lots of stopping to be told about local flora and fauna for food or medicinal purposes. Not what I expected. Demonstrations by owner of the land were quite enjoyable, tour guide was very sweet and humorous. Port itself was as expected. Local stalls. Open air pub. Beach was a bit rough today. We also did a local tour in a glass bottom boat. This was really good. The guys took us out around the point of the bay to spot some green sea turtles, and spectacular lettuce coral. They were very informative and gave us history on the people and island. Great tour!

Mare Isle, Loyalty Islands, New Caledonia

Oh this place was amazing! Yejele beach cannot be described in words. You gotta see it to believe it. Shuttles to the beach from port were comfortable. Food and amenities at the beach were pretty good. Chairs for hire for the day to lounge in if you get there early enough. At the port itself there is a natural swimming pool, and next to it a deep swimming area with caves etc. The water is crystal clear, just beautiful.
