Review summary

I have enjoyed this cruise, my first exposure to Alaska and while the ship is a bit older and the activities subdue and sometimes feels non-existent still it can be fun and you can make the best of it.The staff in the ship were really nice

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Fiarly straight foward you take your bags, drop them by X-ray Machine and proceed to immgration check

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room, clean , efficient, organized, really nice staff, no waiting in line. Buffet , busy most of the time, food was fairly decent, majority of the item they serve it to you so the line moves a little slower than usual. Tried the Italian restaurant and the food was really good, no complain!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
To be clear this is not a singles cruise or Caribbean cruise with music and partying all night. Most Of the crowd is older in age and activities are subdue and catered towards them. It is an older ship so it does not have any new bells and whistles like Rock climbing, water park and so on. It does have one covered pool and one outdoor pool but no too many people used it. Most people were either in hot tubs, gym, bars, or taking pictures.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The band in B.B lounge was good and so was the comedian. Most likely there will be other bands and entertainers by the time this is written, so who knows.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff really are superb in this ship and cover for all the short comings that may be associated with your trip.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship is older and can use some renovations here and there. If you are expecting a hip ship with water slides, rock climbing, fancy this and that you are in a wrong ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Good size room, the best future was a large size bathroom with small bath tub as well! The staff was great they cleaned the room 2/3 times a day better service than any one gets in hotels these days.

Ship tip

Expectation: This is an older ship which means No Rock Climbing, NO water Slides, No hip archiecture, no partying all night!

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

4 out of 5
Didn't see much of the city, but the port seems a bit outdated.

CRUISE STEPHENS PASSAGE

5 out of 5
This is excellent, as the ship slows down to 10 Knots an hour , if the weather is good, one can take tons of picture from the ship and enjoy sun and the pool in the back of ship.

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
Glacier excursion is nice, gives you a chance to see a glacier and waterfall from a shorter distance. I believe To get on the glacier you need excision with Helicopter which is quite expensive but double check.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

4 out of 5
Not much to do in here except an excursion taking Gondola to the top and a tram travel through the jungle. You only have less than four hours here, which means you don't really get a chance of seeing Hoonah

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
You can take free shuttle all day from the boat to downtown and from there you can visit St. Michael church , Bishop house and walk ten minutes to National Park. You can also take tours if you don't feel like walking much.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
Excursion: E-Bike through the rain forest , really nice and enjoyable.

Victoria, British Columbia

3 out of 5
The problem with this port is you get there at 8 PM, depart at 11:30 PM, so not much to see at night, but downtown is lively and you can stop for a drink. There is a flat rate of $13 dollars to go with taxi to Downtown which I recommend it unless you want to walk half an our on foot.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
They have a service that takes your luggage, print your air plane boarding pass, you leave the ship hand free. They take the luggage to the airport and check it for you.

I agree about the updating. Was on same deck in 4173 cabin solo with just a shower big enough to fit. Staff is top notch.

Nicely written with some good points on passenger demographics.
