Review summary

Go to Alaska and be astonished at the wonderful and the beautiful nature, wildlife and people who work do hard to make you cruise memorable. We took 120 rubber ducks total. We each had plenty to hide and gift with tips to outstanding crew. They loved them too. Not just the kids. The kids now have better understanding of conservation, habitat, and wildlife and their impact upon it. The whole family came away relaxed, inspired, and happy to have had a great time together.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

The Pinnacle Grill was outstanding with gold standard service. The Lido provided a wide variety of food, salads, fruit and iced tea. There were 9 of us, something for everyone. The pizza and dive in burgers, hot dogs and fries were a hit. Every single person raved about the fries. My personal favorite was the chocolate souffle at the Pinnacle.

Onboard Activities

Justin was great teaching watercolors, origami and doing game shows. His classes fill up fast and are for 16 and older. Get there early to assure a spot. He's patient, funny and very talented.

Entertainment

The family had great fun at various venues.

Children's Programs

My youngest granddaughter is 12. So she wanted to hang with collage girls and her family.

Service and Staff

Our room steward Trei and Amahd were friendly and efficient. Libo in the Lido was awesome. Justin was already mentioned.

Everything was clean. There were a few extra quiet spaces like the library. Nice place to chill will a good selection of books. Loved the Veranda deck and deck chairs

At the port bow, I was concerned about seasickness and lots of movement, but it was fine. The area was quiet as we were underneath the treatment rooms of the spa.

Ship tip

Be sure to check on 3 rd guests in room with have it all package...internet not included nor the free gratuities. We had 4 veranda rooms and had a little sticker shock to make up the difference.

Breathtaking postcard views everywhere. Lots of fog that made the views more interesting. Loved having a veranda to witness 2 calving events without the crowds. We asked our connecting balconies be opened, so we had lots of space. Sipping special coffee, hot chocolate or an adult beverages, while sharing with family was priceless to me.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

We disld a small boat 3 hour wildlife tour with Paul Davis @Gallant Adventures. I found him on Trip Advisor. This was my 3 rd trip with him. Outstanding knowledge. We saw whales, otters, seal lions, slamon literally jumping all over the top of the water. It was rainy and misting, but it didn't bother the wildlife and we could be inside the boat if we chose. The Ada shuttle from the pier was an added bonus. I was in a wheelchair.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Too short amount of time in port. Some did the Deadliest Catch boat excursion, some drove jeeps and some of us just relaxed. Those who took excursions didn't have time to enjoy the town or shop.

Victoria, British Columbia

There was an incident with a sailboat rescue that used our pilot boat to assist with that. Imagine being capsized in freezing water without life jackets. All ended up safe, but that made us late arriving. Only had 2 hours to see that beautiful place. Would like much more time there.

We used Port Valet which is sponsored by the city of Seattle. The took our luggage and check it through to our Atlanta destination. Some of our bags got there before we did. Easy.
