Holland America to Alaska is for animal loving nerds like me and it’s got many options for vegetarians.
Embarkation

Used verifly which made it quicker. But it was also confusing because the lines of those who didn’t crossed over verifly‘s at the end and boy did we get dirty looks passing by! Also the porters for princess were all over HAL porters were at the very end which was awkward
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

I‘m vegetarian and was pleased that all but the specialty restaurant we tried had numerous options to pick from. Room service was a big disappointment as well.
Onboard Activities

Loved the tai chi class I took the trivia was just recycled quizzes. The talks from the naturalist and the Tlingit representative were my favorites!
Entertainment

Lincoln center & BB King were top notch. Thr bbc Earth Show was a huge disappointment. I expected live chamber music over narration but the synth score drowned out the stage musicians and I suspect it was just mimed. It was unwatchable.
Children's Programs
I don’t have kids & didn’t use
Service and Staff

As a vegetarian I have to preorder every night. I had anytime dining so we made reservations first night and kept the same waiter the whole time Ardian was awesome. It was more hit & miss in the lido. Our room stewards Su & Nai were great too.

Nice & quiet and close to good coffee
Ship tip
Forget the Fitness center grab some binocs and head to the promenade deck. 3 laps is a mile. Best place to be to view glaciers way less people on it than the bow.
Wish they spent less time at the needle and more at pikes place. Glad I came 2 days early to explore on my own. Chihuly museum and garden is a gem. Museum of pop culture can be skipped
Saw humpbacks acting crazy and salmon spawning at mendenhall glacier. In Port too short to shop after excursion. Denali our naturalist on boat taught us Tlingit for thank you. Our bus driver pointed out black bears, eagles & told us where to find salmon at the glacier.
Saw orcas and humpbacks on excursion. Could have done without the one sexist guide and his sexual innuendo. No one on our boat was Tlingit and we had no time to shop after the excursion
My excursion was canceled so spent time in rain shopping and visiting Russian Orthodox Church & the Tlingit community house where I saw the youth singing & dancing.
Don’t book shuttle on HAL it’s cheaper if you do it as you board they take credit card. Did a ghost tour on my own and got a Motor honest history of the city. Highly recommend it even if you don’t believe in ghosts like me.
