The cruise to Alaska on the Eurodam was my first cruise ever, and it was magnificent! I loved everything about the cruise. Service aboard the ship was top of the line! I felt like royalty!

Review summary

Overall, excellent and very well organized cruise. I'm already trying to plan my next cruise with Holland America. The service personnel aboard the Eurodam went above and beyond excellence to ensure our stay was above reproach. Our dinner servers Dolly and Wayu were excellent and kind. Our cabin assistant Andi and his assistant kept our room neat and clean; and oftentimes saw us outside our cabin, and asked us by name, if there was anything more they could do to make our stay more comfortable. Wonderful first experience on a cruise!

Comfortable, clean, nice! Would like to have had a balcony room, but didn't know about that. Stateroom was excellent for my first cruise.

Ship tip

Make sure you have a minimum $1,000 for ship spending. Gratuities alone are just over $100. Drinks, spa and shopping $$$ are other expenses onboard.

I'm from Texas, ppl weren't near as friendly as I expected. They seemed much more reserve than I'm use to. We went to a restaurant called the Elephant & Castle and were told we couldn't sit in a particular section that already had ppl sitting there. The section we were led to was filthy. Needless to say we didn't eat there. The Veggie Grill was awesome! Great food and ppl too!

Didn't like that it was dark by the time we got there and we couldn't see many of the things our tour guide was pointing out. The lit up government building( I think it was) was nice to see, but I would have preferred a daylight tour.

Leaving the ship was well organized and orderly; however, my friend and I ended up sitting on our suitcases in the hot sun with about 36 other ppl because we were told those going to the airport had priority over those of us going to the hotel. That needs to be reorganized. Many started taking other transportation to their hotel, which we refused to do since we had already paid for transportation in advance.
