Review summary

Overall it was a wonderful trip and we had a great time! The port selections were good and our weather was outstanding. I would strongly recommend an Alaskan Cruise. However, If I went again, I would probably try a different ship next time.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarking was a breeze. The Eurodam embarkation process was well organized and speedy. The staff was welcoming,; rooms were ready immediately, and luggage arrived promptly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The dining room was wonderful! The food there was excellent, varied, and presented very beautifully. I would give them 5 stars. However, the buffet was a frustrating and disappointing experience! The lines were long, I felt that I was being rushed through in such a manner that I hardly had time to consider the choices once I was being served, the workers were less than friendly and their English was very difficult to understand, and, worst of all, you practically had to fight to even find a seat to eat! It was far from relaxing and enjoyable!!! Furthermore, I felt the variety of choices and times that one could get food was very limiting, certainly compared to the Carnival cruises that I had been on before.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The Test Kitchen was interesting and enjoyable. I also attended the kitchen tour, which was fine but not great. The hot tubs were very small. My party of 4 could barely fit in them. The game area in the Exploration Cafe was nice.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
I thought the performers were excellent. Emily and Danny at The Piano Bar were superb, as were the B.B. King performers. The mainstage show consisted totally of music except for one magic show and an Alaska Wildlife Presentation, which were both good. Again, however, crowding was an issue, especially with the Mainstage shows. Seats were difficult to find.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The guest desk personnel were gracious and helpful, the room stewards were fine, and the dining room servers were good. Exploration Cafe service was extremely slow and, as stated earlier, the service in the buffet area was not good and often not very friendly or helpful. Rc

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Yes, clean and maintained. Less "showy" and glitzy than previous ships.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Good. Bed comfortable, pillows plentiful and comfortable. Under the bed storage drawers were nice. Movies in the room were appreciated.

Ship tip

The Eurodam is a smaller ship, so it doesn't have as many activities as larger ones. However, I thought the captain did a great job, especially in the Gkacier National Park.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

3 out of 5

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
We did a whale watching and visit to a glacier. The excursion was okay but we only glimpsed 1 orca and 3 humpbacks. We were hoping for more. Y

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
We took a hike on our own, which we thoroughly enjoyed, then visited Sitka, which we liked. Śd

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
Town was a typical tourist stop. However, we took a hike to the top of a mountain which was really awesome.

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
I thought Victoria was beautiful!! Loved the cleanliness and beautiful flowers!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Again, efficient and speedy.
