Review summary

Tired ship to worn out or unimpressive ports. Windjammer boring close to same every night

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Italy is worn out and tired. Getting dirtier each year ( I have family there). The ports had nothing to offer except we did luck into a nice restaurant just outside the port in Messina. Santorini is a hot volcanic rock with shopping but yes the houses are very photogenic. Mykonos is a tiny commercial beach town only a few block long in any direction. Beaches everywhere are rocks or large pebbles. If you’ve been to Hawaii well then the Adriatic is quite the opposite. We were impressed with Turkey until we found out they ripped us off but good. Super salesmen selling junk that falls apart but looks great in the showroom. Negotiate your lowest price and then 10 minutes later you find it at half the price. They have taken lying to the PhD level. Food very expensive.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Chops is high class. Windjammer needs a new chef. Same stuff all 7 days except final night very dried out hard lobster tails but good shrimp. It is just boring by day 4. We took a German cruise a few years ago and by contrast they were a 10 and Windjammer 5.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Almost nothing to do on this old ship. We docked alongside Norwegian and MSC and could see the slides and super things they had on deck. We had two tiny pools with one it the other usually closed.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We enjoyed a few shows

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Very good kids programs with well trained staff who didn’t let the kids run the show or get out of hand. We felt very safe leaving them there and all they wanted was to go back.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff are all great. Smiles, helpful and nice. I don’t know how they manage it.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Old design not up with the times

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cracked mirror, and you can just see it is old all around. Shower patched etc. Time to sell it and buy a new ship. Cabin was small.

Ship tip

Shopping area tiny. Not much to do. Smoking in two limited areas and I wish they would close those.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

3 out of 5
Old city. Beachfront but rock beaches not usable. Gas stations don’t take credit cards. Just cash or debit but no signs up to let you know.

Salerno (Naples), Italy

2 out of 5
Bad old worn out city

Messina, Sicily

3 out of 5
Had one good restaurant. Nothing much else to brag about. Church tours same anywhere in Italy.

Santorini, Greece

2 out of 5
Good for photos. Limited good stuff at shopping. You may pass out on the stairs up as several in our group did.

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

3 out of 5
Great place. Friendly folks but they will steal you blind and lie about everything. Wonderful people though and it is fun getting ripped off there.

Mykonos, Greece

2 out of 5
Ti y village. Truly we were expecting something but no good beaches, crowded beyond belief. No breathing room. Will never return

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

5 out of 5
We actually like this place along the water. Don’t ask for directions here as 18 out of 20 people will send you off. In the wrong direction. Cabs are out to rob you blind. Insist they use the meter! Please!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
No problems. Smooth. Taxis outside only take euros. No dollars anywhere in Greece.
