Review summary

I am extremely disappointed. I wanted to cancel due to the impending storm. Was told it would not be refundable. Went on cruise, but less than 36 hours into the cruise, we learn that both Coco Cay and Key West ports of call would be cancelled, and we would return to Miami one day only, BUT OFFERRED NO COMPENSATION!!!!! I did not receive what I paid for.

paulazdz, sorry that you had a bad experience. RCCL posted on their website since Hurricane Harvey the affected and potentially affected sailings as well as compensation that they were offering. Cruising during the hurricane season is a gamble. Travel insurance is a must (make sure it covers acts of God / Severe Weather). I would still call RCCL post cruise and see what they can offer due to your disappointment of this sailing. RCCL is a class act.

If I'm not mistaken, RC has posted all over social media about how to cancel impending cruises due to the hurricane and receiving not only a refund, but a discount off your next cruise. Cruisers had received emails as well.

check your email or if you went through a travel agent have them inquire about your refund. so far all of the cruise lines have been great with offering refunds or cruise credits for cancelled sailings

All you're entitled to once you Sail are the port fees; refunded. I don't sail during Hurricane Season and purchase travel insurance.

I ALWAYS purchase the insurance. Better safe than sorry!

Important and valuable feedback for all to understand. Travel insurance is essential in hurricane season. The cruise contract does allow a cruise line to modify an itinerary to keep customers and crew safe. Irma was a major and unpredictable hurricane. Her track shifted back and forth in the days leading up to her arrival in Florida. RC did what they had to do despite impacting the cruise experience for some guests.
