Review summary

With documented evidence of a monster hurricane incoming, this cruise should have never left port. While docked first day in Nassau, news was out that Key West was under mandatory evacuation. We should have immediately returned to Miami but cruise line elected to preserve revenue and remained additional day in Nassau which limited exit options out of Miami in advance of storm. Concern seemed to be to preserve revenue and not safety of passengers. No private island or Key West experience - there should be a refund coming based on inability to deliver all aspects of trip as promised. Will not ever consider this cruise line again and not likely to consider another cruise given how this was handled.

All cruise lines have the same policy, that's why you purchase cruise insurance.

Uh, did you ever stop to wonder why cruising is cheaper during hurricane season? It's because of (wait for it!), THE POSSIBILITY OF A HURRICANE WHICH MIGHT GIVE YOU ROUGH SEAS AND CHANGE YOUR ITINARARY!!!! Geez! And for the record, ALL cruiselines have a provision in their contract that YOU (the paying passenger) sign stating that ports may be changed or omitted solely at the discretion of the ship's Captain and that there will be no refund except for port fees. If you have a problem with this, then next time you might want to fully read the freakin' contract BEFORE signing your name and handing over your bucks!

Your are the true living breathing definition of "self-entitled!" You are upset because the cruise line kept you out of harms way, yet you complain. People like you are what's wrong with this world. You have no compassion or empathy for those impacted by the hurricane and want to throw a tantrum because you did not get what you wanted. I am truly sorry that the cruise line did not put YOU (and you alone) in the path of the hurricane. Maybe if they had, you would have gained some common sense!

Ok. The cruise line (and others) kept you safe from some of the worse storms in over a decade. I would be thankful I could still write a review on this site. Many Islanders will not have power, clean water, or a home for a long time. And it is not over for the Caribbean still!

You are complaining about your cruise vacation and the port while people have lost their home and everything. You had shelter, food and water and was kept safe. Hurricanes are out of their control so travel during non hurricane season. I don't think you are going to get much sympathy for your horrible cruise.

Where to begin? You do realize that cruise ships just can't go wherever they please whenever they please? Hurricanes are unpredictable. It's easy to armchair quarterback now, how it played out retroactively. With your perfect crystal ball why did you book in hurricane season? How is it that others on board have praised them. Some even stayed on board at no charge when their flights were canceled and have only great things to say about how they were treated. Perhaps you should sue Irma for your ruined vacation. Good luck with that.

Ok, so Royal should have returned you to Miami for what?? To put you directly in harm's way instead of being away and safe and not in the middle of a catastrophic storm? Do you actually think you would have made it out of Miami, along with thousands of others who were trying to leave?? Come on! Your logic is rather skewed. Royal (and other cruise lines) did what they could to keep you safe. Do you think these cruise lines want these things to happen?? I think not. I do feel bad for your troubles but you chose to travel in hurricane season knowing the risk, thats ultimately on YOU. I don't mean to be harsh but it's soo aggravating to read all these posts of people complaining about their ruined vacations. Be lucky that you were safe and alive, be lucky that you had water, food, shelter and access to medical care. Just in case you weren't aware, there are hundreds of thousands of people who, right now, don't have the luxuries as you do. Try to be thankful instead of being selfish and thinking about what only you lost.

Get real my friend! I am not aware of any company that will accept responsibility for acts of God. So I guess you will never cruise again becouse This line was not the only one that had ships out at time of hurricane.
