Maybe not the best value but the staff was excellent and everything was sufficient.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was excellent. They divide the cruise into 3 one week sections so people can choose 7, 14, or 21 day cruises. This flexibility is not only nice for passengers but it means that you're not loading every passenger on the ship at once. This smaller number of passengers makes things go much more quicky. Smart move by Princess.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The service staff at the main dining room were excellent. The food was decent quality but nothing other than the service stood out. The buffet was OK but quality ranged from tasty to inedible. The good stuff seemed to be gone quick and if you didn't get there early, you were stuck with the less desirable options. There was always something good enough, given the wide range of options available. The ice cream stand was my kids' favorite.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Pools were small and often overcrowded. Best to stay away at peak times. There were usually other activities to go to, such as trivia, bingo or a show.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Didn't see much other the the bands in the lounges as we passed through, but they seemed very talented.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
My 9 year old thoroughly enjoyed his day at the kid's activity center. He would rather go there than visit the historical sites on shore. I only wish they had more options for the younger kids. It could have save some couple-stress!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was the best part of this cruise line.. Every single staff member was polite, smiling, and great at their jobs. All standouts, all around..
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship was a lot different than other cruise lines I've been on. Not many open spaces but enough variety for most. Not the best amenities for young kids. Elevators were often a choke point, and pools were also undersized for the amount of traffic.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Cabins were small but sufficient and very clean and functional. Adjoining room and balcony feature was nice.
Appreciate your detailed feedback. Glad you enjoyed your some of your cruise. Sorry for the disappointments. We sail Princess when we want a more adult experience because there usually are fewer children on their ships.
Princess Cruises is mostly for an older demographic of passengers. However there have been many passengers with kids that have said their kids loved it. We are not pool people but I believe the ship have 5 to 6 pools; just saying .
