Ship: Emerald Princess

Alaska is stunningly beautiful. The ship on the other hand, is full of disappointments. The good: dining room and stateroom services were very good. Everything else is just average at best. There is an overall lack of energy among the service stuff. The naturalist's talk almost put me to sleep. Tons of mistakes on the daily program, food in the buffet is the worst I have seen on a cruise ship, both in terms of quality and variety. Front desk stuff has no idea what's going on, you would have completely different answers about the same question from different front desk stuff. Definitely the worst cruise ship I have experienced. I have done Carnival, Royal Caribbean and celebrity. I will never go a princess ever again.

Rough voyage but good reunion with friends by ggjlc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

We chose this cruise because we were having a reunion of 7 women who grew up together in Zimbabwe, Africa and are now scattered across Canada and US. Since some were from So. Cal and Phoenix and two from Vancouver area it served us well to do a one-way from L.A. to Vancouver and each only had to fly one way. Weather was bad with gale force winds so ship was rocky and little activity around the pools and decks which made the inside areas seem more crowded. Fortunately we brought cards and lots of memories and stories to share so we were able to make our own entertainment but had a hard time finding appropriate places to sit together that weren't crowded & noisy. On day 2 we discovered that we could take a back table in a restaurant in between meals to visit and play cards without disturbing others or being disturbed. Our one day at port was in Victoria, BC and we rented a van to visit the Butchart Gardens and had a lovely day there with beautiful weather and exquisite gardens. The cruise met our particular purposes and needs but it would have been disappointing if I was on a family vacation with different expectations.

Coastal cruise by christyallison

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

This was an okay cruise. The food wasn’t amazing, the ship was nice. I went to celebrate turning 40. I don’t think I will go on another Princess cruise until I’m 70. They are a nice line, don’t get me wrong. I feel like they cater to the very older crowd. The live music was even older music. I love to dance, but I couldn’t because the music being played. If you are young, don’t cruise on this line. If you have kids, turn away now, I’m so glad I didn’t bring my kids on this trip... they would have been sooo bored. There were 2 staff that were more than rude, I never said anything to anyone, because I knew I wouldn’t have to see them for the duration of our trip. Hope this helps you decide!

Very relaxing! by zoeboomboom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Thoroughly enjoyed this cruise since it was my first time to Alaska. My girlfriend has been many times so she filled me in on the best places to see and where to grab a yummy bite. Would probably cruise again and do some more tours. Enjoyed the train ride in Skagway too!

Alaska is beautiful by potatoren

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Food at the buffet at any time was warm at the most. Cabin is what to be expected for an interior. 99% of the crew were great, some did not bring us what we asked for drink wise even though they came over and asked. Ports were great, san pedro staff at port are rude and i will not be going back for any cruise. I'll go back to alaska, i just dont know if it would be on a princess cruise again.

The best part was the ship tour through Glacier Bay! Spectacular scenery and we could be inside or outside as we chose.

This is my first time... by princess777

Sail date: /
Ship: Emerald Princess

This is my first time to be on the emerald princess, but it looks awesome! It seems fun too. I never been to Alaska. The only thing I am looking forward is the entertainment and the balloon drop. I wish there will be no problem with toilet seat top. The showers are all small which isn't good.

Relaxing by terpohland

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: South Pacific

The only thing we would have done differently was the dining. Overall, the cruise was very relaxing because of the number of sea days. We really enjoyed them and time sort of flew by.

Wonderful introduction to small parts of South & Central America and Mexico by Zest

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Emerald Princess

A great cruise and opportunity to spend time with my mother (80s) and sister. Excellent itinerary, and most everything about Princess cruise was 100%, probably one of the best itineraries I’ve been on. Did most excursions through Princess this trip and were all extremely good. Definitely want to return on a land based journey, a great introduction to these areas from the comfort of 1 room and a quality cruise company

Great ports. by coloradogypsy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: South America

The ports were awesome. The ship is getting run down, especially outside with a lot of rust to be seen. The staff was confrontational and had an attitude that the customer was always wrong. The entertainment was mediocre except for guest performers who were good. Activities were limited and difficult to sign up for.
