Emerald Princess

30 Night Andes & Cape Horn Grand Adventure (Buenos Aires To Los Angeles)

Sail date: February 28, 2018

Ship: Emerald Princess

Traveled as: Large Group

Review summary

The ports were awesome. The ship is getting run down, especially outside with a lot of rust to be seen. The staff was confrontational and had an attitude that the customer was always wrong. The entertainment was mediocre except for guest performers who were good. Activities were limited and difficult to sign up for.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The food was pretty disappointing. Not up to past Princess experiences

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Activities were limited. We enjoyed the escape room. The line to sign up for stargazing sessions was extremely long so we didn't sign up. The talks were good. The putting course was not in a pleasant location. So we didn't use it. Too windy.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
If you didn't go 45 minutes early for a show, you couldn't get a seat. We went an hour early for a show that was only half an hour long. We quit going.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our room steward was great. Much of the other staff was confrontational and not empowered to resolve problems. For example, in the coffee shop at the International Cafe, three of us ordered a Cafe Latte. We were served a caramel latte. The server insisted that was what we each ordered and didn't offer to remake the drinks. We had a similar story in customer service.

Liked the large closets. The bed was comfortable.

Disembarkation

We had to wait in line for what seemed like forever (maybe an hour) to go through customs. There were only 4 agents and while we were disembarking, two agents went on break. It would have been nicer to wait on the ship until the line moved.
