Disappointing Hawaiian Island Cruise by linbil12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess

I enjoyed the first part of my cruise. It ended badly because of catching Covid onboard, and then being quarantined. I was feeling great when I boarded and had zero signs of illness. Perhaps passengers should have their temperatures taken or some simple way of proving that they are not ill when they board. I was definitely not the only person who came down with Covid. The crew puts a small ottoman in front of your cabin door when you are quarantined. They place your meals and your clean towels on this ottoman. My husband, who did not catch Covid, saw several of these ottomans in front of other cabin doors. Someone came on board with Covid.

Worst service of my 20+ cruises by bergkazoku

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Emerald Princess

We’re very experienced cruisers and this was the worst service. Took 45 minutes to get drinks. Staff was not friendly. Ship seemed short staffed. Our cabin should not have been in service due to its condition. We will not sail Princess again and I advise anyone else against it. This was our 5th Princess cruise. And last.

The food was great as well as the staff in the dining room. They knew us by name every night and had our drink order at our table for us!

Great trip and I was able to mark one more cruise off my bucket list. I did feel our previous full transit Panama cruise through the old canal was better simply because the old canal had more history behind it. Other than that it was a great cruise. the by safarilife

Good cruise, but not as good as going through the old canal due to its lack of history.

Excellent, excellent trip by Dutch3901

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess

The cruise was excellent. Staff, facilities, all top notch. The food was the best we've had on any cruise. The cuisine was varied, and each item was very good, including the buffet where typically, the food starts tasting the same. A truly enjoyable cruise from beginning to end.

Not the best. Princess has slid downhill. by SueSam

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess

Princess is trying to make up for the revenue loss of the pandemic on the backs of its passengers. Service is down, food quality is down, and the overall experience has been drastically reduced from our previous 39 cruises with Princess.

Again we could not say how impressed we were with the staff in the Michelangelo dining room. Reservations were easily made and service was exceptional.

Exciting Caribbean Cruise by davidmeyers34

Ship: Emerald Princess

It was generally positive, several highlights and a few down moments. I accomplished many things I had wanted to see and do. Nothing went seriously wrong, crew were fantastic and the experience was very memorable.

Absolutely fabulous by kathleensylvest

I can't say enough good things about this cruise. It was absolutely amazing in every way from food, drinks, entertainment, port of calls. The new canal locks were fabulous and the commentary through the locks was entertaining, enlightening and educational. Bravo Princess for an amazing time!

Successful Cruise Despite Problems with the Travel Agency Cruise.Com by 1jayberger

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Too many add on charges and it would be best if everything was included. The add on charges for drink and tips gets confusing. Just charge what you need to be profitable and give the traveller drinks and tips included.

Very relaxing but too many at sea days by hagoromoaya

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Need more activities for at sea days for seniors and singles. Since we couldn’t stop at Nicaragua as scheduled it made one more at sea day.

Disappointing by FloatingTheSeas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Despite staff shortages, the service was exceptional & pretty much the highlight of the cruise. Upon initial booking, we reserved a cabin on the Aloha deck, port side at the front as we didn't want to be near the elevators for more quiet. Our cabin had been changed to Baha deck, mid-ship, ocean view about 24 hours after making final payment for no apparant reason. Cheap Cruises had no idea why & referred us to Princess. First they said the cabin was not available (but it was available weeks before when we booked it?????), then they said it was an upgrade because it had a balcony (so did the initial cabin). After 45 minutes on the phone with a Princess representative who had to check with a supervisor, we were moved back up to the Aloha deck, port side at the rear of the ship. As the balcony was on an angle, it was actually better than the initial cabin, but this experience definitely started the cruise off on the wrong foot! We've cruised with Princess multiple times (as well as other cruise lines) but it's been a while. It was notable that we seemed to be nickled & dimed to death for many things that were included in the past. *Internet package was $75 more when purchased on the ship than if purchased in advance of cruise (unwelcome surprise!). Water bottles that were freely dispensed while exiting the ship for shore excursions are now being sold. Medallion app did not work with dinner reservations. Made reservations on the app about 2 months prior to the cruise, only to find several weeks later that they had been changed. Revised the reservations on the app, at which point could not always get time or dining room of choice. When we arrived on the ship those reservations had been cancelled. Many of our fellow passengers had similar experiences. Food quantity was substantial, be we remembered the quality as being better. Had to plan on getting to a show or activity 30-40 minutes prior in order to get seating as the spaces filled up quickly. Was this this worst cruise we'd ever been on, absolutely not, but can't say it was the best either. Would't say we'd never cruise again, but it's time to put that concept on a hiatus!

Panama Canal December 3-18, 2022 by 73marine

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Our party on this trip was a party of six, most over 68. Overall, very happy with this cruise. One of the port stops was cancelled, so this placed us a few more days for sea days. We all wished they would have added an additional stop, maybe like Acapulco. It is an older Princess ship, but we were happy with most of everything.

It was a good cruise but the entertainment was not as good as other cruises I have taken. The casino was not very active and has poor leadership.. by

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

I loved the cruise but was dissapointed in the shows. Our dining room staff was wonderful and the food was also. The ship is beautiful and I love Princess. The whole staff and crew was wonderful and very friendly. The party out by the pool was the best part of the cruise. Loved that and that band was good.

Excellent Western Europe and Transatlantic Crossing Cruise by linbil12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

We love Atlantic crossings, because they are a great combination of tour days with lots of sightseeing, and then you get to relax on sea days. Traveling from east to west is easier on your body, as you're frequently turning the clocks back and getting several extra hours of sleep. It was a very fun and satisfying experience.
