Review summary

We loved going through the Panama Canal. It was a beautiful, tranquil day. One checked off the bucket list!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Although there were long lines, the staff were efficient and very informative. They were able to get us through embarkation fairly quickly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food in the main dining rooms was the not the best we have had on a cruise. The Crown Grill as very good as was the Italian specialty restaurant (sorry forgot the name). The buffet had a good selection and the staff were very good about refreshing the food. Slice as wonderful - great pizza!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the trivia contests and art auction.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was wonderful - all of them we encountered. Specifically: Jospeh at the Vines Bar; Ricky and Joel at Gatsby Bar; Richard, Pamela and Vino in the Explorer's Lounger; our main dining room waiter, Sanya; and our room steward Ferdinand - was amazing - he was so quick on all our requests and always polite and friendly.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed the layout of the ship. It had more intimate areas than large common areas, which we enjoyed because we could separate ourselves from the crowds. The staff were cleaning constantly.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was overall very comfortable. The bed and linens were great. It was kept very clean. The bathroom was extremely small. We had a valve leak in the bathroom and water was flowing onto the floor so much it went over the threshold and flooded the carpet in the closet. I don't think the person I advised on the phone understood the urgency of the situation, because if they had, the carpet flooding could have been avoided, but there was a delay in the staff response. But, once the staff did get there, they were very efficient, polite, and considerate in their duties. We had never had any maintenance problems on past cruises and were appreciative of the resolution of this problem. Unfortunately, I did not get the names of the staff that solved the problem.

Ship tip

Explore the ship well. There are numerous of small, intimate areas that you may enjoy.
