Emerald Princess overview

Emerald Princess
Emerald Princess

Emerald Princess is a Crown-class ship from Princess Cruises that launched in 2007. Emerald was refurbished in 2019 and now boasts new dining venues. New additions features Planks BBQ and Steamers Seafood. Old favorites such as the Salty Dog Grill and Slices Pizzeria received much-needed upgrades. In August 2020, the ship will implement Princess MedallionClass. This features OceanMedallion wearable devices designed to enhance onboard service by streamlining the embarkation process, unlocking stateroom doors, and providing remote pay options. The ship will also add MedallionNet for reliable internet service throughout the vessel.

Like many of its sister ships, Emerald Princess was designed to be a relaxing escape from a busy world. The ship offers plenty of opportunities to unwind. Cruisers can be pampered at Lotus Spa or take a stroll around the European-inspired Piazza, where roving performers entertain with magic, acrobatics, and juggling. Passengers can watch concerts, films, and live sports poolside on the Movies Under the Stars screen. They can also immerse themselves in global culture with Festivals of the World. Kids aged 3 to 17 enjoy Camp Discovery, parents can seek quiet time at the adults-only Sanctuary or Lotus Spa pool. All ages will enjoy the ship's sports court, mini-golf course, and The Voice of the Ocean, a singing competition inspired by its TV namesake.

Emerald Princess itineraries and departure ports

Cruises on Emerald Princess range from 1-day Pacific coastal voyages sailing from Seattle or Vancouver to 29-day Spanish Passage cruises that include a Panama canal crossing. Embarking at various European ports, the ship also sails the Mediterranean, Aegean, and Adriatic seas. Specialty itineraries include a Pacific wine country cruise. The ship occasionally visits the Hawaiian Islands, Tahiti, and Samoa.

Before you book

This ship is best for: Travelers who desire a rejuvenating cruise vacation will appreciate the ship's relaxing, laid-back atmosphere. With a full-service spa, lavish entertainment, and a choice of dazzling destinations, this ship offers cruisers a multitude of ways to unwind.

You should know: Many of Emerald's activities promote relaxation, and longer-itineraries attract an over-50 crowd. The onboard entertainment and amenities likely won't appeal to younger singles looking for a vibrant nightlife or families seeking pulse-pounding onboard activities. You won't find activities such as climbing walls and ropes courses.

Nice getaway by wilkepc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess

We needed a break so the 10 day length was perfect. We were so disappointed with the quality of the evening main shows! We are Christian's and did not like the demonic themes in 2 of the shows (we walked out after about 10 minutes). So much darkness in the makeup and clothing and the men were dancing in a way that bothered us. The ABBA musical and the magician Eric Buss were good and clean and enjoyable. Too bad the other shows were subpar. Did not like the cruise director, Floyd.

Wonderful. We had a great time. by AKWeber731

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess

This was our 25th wedding anniversary cruise. Every day was very relaxing and fun. The ship was gorgeous, all of the staff was very helpful and kind. We met so many wonderful people from every direction around the USA (mostly). We bought a few pieces of Art from the gallery for our home. We are so excited to get those and hang them. Lisa (the auctioneer) was so warm and gracious. So was the rest of the staff. We are non-gamblers and - non drinkers, so we did not order packages. We had such an amazing time. thank you!

The crew service was magnificent! Foods, especially lobster night, was delicious! Suggestion: When someone sends a text on the medallion app, the app should beep to notify the receiver of the text.

Don't worry if you don't have a tuxedo for formal nights. Many men were wearing suits and ties. The soft drink package is worth the price if you are a moderate Coke, Sprite, Diet Coke drinker. The future cruise deposit is a must if you think you might be cruising again with Princess in 2 years.

Dont plan any excursions at Turks because there is a great restaurant, bar, pool right at the pier.
