Memorable First Family Cruise by cruisellama

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our first cruise. Superb family cruise with kids ages 12 - 5. Food was superb as was service. Shows geared for families, but there were also places on the ship that were "adults only" with sufficient buffer space. Kids got to participated on an end of cruise show in the theater with the characters. Thought it funny on the last night as the crew was looking for tips, the matre'd showed up next to our table with his hand out (first time he ever said boo to us). Disney does it right - but believe their price point is too high.

Ship: Disney Magic

Kids entertainment was good, but the food was sub standard, to what we are accustomed to on cruise lines.

Easy on and easy off.... by 276

Ship: Disney Magic

Easy on and easy off. The ship is absolutely beautiul. Staterooms are oversized and very comfortable. Mostly young European staff who are enthusiastic and anxious to please. Four different dining rooms -- food was very good, but not sensational. No casino. Four pools. Entertainment very family oriented. Castaway Cay was great. Will do the 7 day cruise next.

We wanted "Disney" without tiring... by RobinK5

Ship: Disney Magic

We wanted "Disney" without tiring out the children and ourselves, at Walt Disney World, so we chose the cruise.I cannot believe what a time we had-yes we went on DCL because we have children - ages 4, 5, 17 and 18. Everyone had the best time ever! The kids club was up to high standards. My children loved it. Their characters were everywhere and the food was good. We also always had great food from room service, very quickly I might add. Lots of activities-we are going again very soon!!

Ship: Disney Magic

In our room, above our bed hung the words and music, "A dream is a wish your heart makes...", we agree whole-heartedly. Everything was beyond our expectations! It didn't hurt to have our sister, who's a travel agent, helping us throughout. None the less, from beginning to end, our trip was a total pleasure. A relaxing, invigorating, exciting, and sometimes breathtaking experience. Oh, and of course, "Magical". From the service, to the ambiance, to the entertainment, Disney's tradition of excellence shown through. Hats off to Walt Disney! We will definately let our imaginations set sail with Disney cruise line in the future!!

Ship: Disney Magic

The ship is absolutely beautiful and huge. The cabins are the most spacious I have ever seen (and there were 4 of us in it). Embarkation and debarkation both went very smoothly, with little to no waiting. The service was quite disappointing. There were fewer characters onboard than I expected. The food was satisfactory, but the portions were quite small. Castaway Cay is amazing. It was the best part of the entire cruise!

Ship: Disney Magic

Overall, this was by far the best family cruise we've been on. The food service was perfect for the average family of picky eaters. The kids programs and facilities were unbeatable. The shows were by far the most elaborate of any we've previously seen and Castaway Cay is a perfect getaway island.

Ship: Disney Magic

I enjoyed my vacation on the Disney Magic so much that I am still trying to go back! The food was wonderful, and the chefs and waiters were so friendly! The kids programs were a hit with all six of the kids in our party, especially our little five year old. If you are looking for a vacation that the whole family will love, this is the ship for you!

Ship: Disney Magic

My family took a 3 day cruise on the Disney Magic in March. We had a very nice time. In usual Disney fashion, embarkation went smoothly and they supplied all the answers to our questions. The cabins were spacious and comfortable. Pay the extra and get an outside cabin with a veranda. The staff was friendly and right on top of things. The shows ran from yawn (The Ghost Ship) to fabulous (Disney Dreams). The movie theater was fun and the activities for the kids were great. There are adult-only activities which is nice for those not traveling with kids. The food sometimes tasted mass produced, but it was ok. The restaurants were neat and our waiters were great. All in all, it was a real nice time!

Ship: Disney Magic

Great cruise!!!! Service was excellent, though not as formal as some other lines. Embarkation and debarkation seamless. Kids programs fabulous for younger kids, a bit lacking for 12 year old, but still plenty for them to do. Staff went out of their way to see we had a great time. Castaway Cay wonderful. Can't wait to do the 7 day!!!

This was the greatest vacation... by 276

Ship: Disney Magic

This was the greatest vacation we have ever been on. When Disney does something they do it all the way. We were not sure our boys ages 11 and 14 would still enjoy Disney cruise, but they had a great time when we came back we checked with the travel agent about booking a second cruise next year also. This year was only for 3 days at sea and 4 days at land and next year 7 at sea.

This cruise really is magical.... by 276

Ship: Disney Magic

This cruise really is magical. The ship is beautiful inside and out; very classy overall design and decor. Stateroom very comfortable & roomy, most have a split bath (shower, sink in one; toilet, sink in other). Embarkation/debarkation surprisingly fast & easy. Food was great; they give you as much as you want (multiple appetizers/entrees, just ask!) Areas just for adults (relaxing) and plenty for kids to do. Entertainment was great, especially the broadway style shows "Disney Dreams" and "Hercules." Went on the 4day and now planning the 7day!

A Magical Vacation by CarolynS14

Ship: Disney Magic

My family and I went on the 7-day Disney cruise on 9-23-00. It was a magical time for sure. The cabins were very roomy, the food was good, the shows were "outstanding" and the crew members, well, lets just say, they were the ones who made the cruise so magical. The crews motto was, "we are here to make your Disney cruise a magical one." They surely lived up to that and then some. They all went way over and above to help you make lasting memories for you and your family. Regarding the Islands: the only negative thing that I can say is that St. Marteen was extremely dirty. You may just want to stay on board that day!!

Me and my friend took... by 276

Ship: Disney Magic

Me and my friend took a 4 day, 3 night cruise and we were very disappointed in our cruise. Our room smelled like someone had just thrown up in there. We told the guy but it didn't help any. Still smelled that way. We both got a headache from it. The food was not as good as we thought it would be, a little disappointed in that also. Kids seemed to be in the adult pool, so we had no relaxation time anytime. Disappointed that's all I can say. Not what I expected from Disney. We expected much more and better service from Disney. When you go to Disney world everything is so nice and in place nothing on the ground. disappointed.

Ship: Disney Magic

First, Disney sure has the advantage of putting you on the ship without any hassles or lines. Once on the ship the staff was very helpful and the ship the MAGIC was subperb. Once settled in it was hard to tell that the ship was full. A lot of space. Great Food, good shows, excellent chidrens programs, and best of all Disney's own Island. WOW. We didn't get off in Nassau, we enjoyed the ship and amenities. Looking forward to going back.

Overall we felt the cruise... by SamC5

Ship: Disney Magic

Overall we felt the cruise was good. If your thinking on going on a Disney cruise for the food you'll be disappointed. It was average at best, and the service was the same (due to servers being overworked). The kids programs were GREAT. Many times our kids chose to stay in the kids area rather than spend time with us. Embarkation/disembarktion was very smooth and easy. I'm sure there are other cruise lines that are less expensive, but if you like the Disney touch this is the one.

The most beautiful ship in... by 276

Ship: Disney Magic

The most beautiful ship in port leaves much to be desired if you are looking for something more in the way of sophistication. While you might wish for whimsical in place of a hurried pace, you will find little more then hype. The food is satisfactory at best. Room service is almost non existant, serving little more then frozen food. The customer relations people seemed to be rather stressed and less than willing to help with the simplist request.T here is really nothing for the adult that might wish to be with other family members and children on holiday and yet wish to find solitude on your veranda with a candle light dinner. We were very disappointed. Strictly for children and the parents who are obligated to be with them.
