Livin' the Disney Dream! by bucation

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

After boarding at the Port Canaveral terminal and exploring the ship a bit, we decided to make our way to the adults only area known as “The Cove.” To our surprise, we found The Cove abandoned. We had the pool, bar, and both lower and upper decks of lounge chairs all to ourselves. We cannot express how delightful it was to spend so much time during our cruise in The Cove. Throughout our cruise, The Cove bar and pool was our own private paradise. Disney Cruise Line really has a nice balance of adults only, teen clubs, kids clubs, and other activities to keep everyone happy.

Our stateroom, 9608 was on the ninth floor truly in the center of the ship. We reserved a Deluxe Family Oceanview Room with Verandah, Category 4A. If the price is right, we highly recommend reserving this category stateroom. We were conveniently located between the midship and aft staircase. The location of our stateroom was convenient to both the midship elevators, which allowed quick access to The Cove, but our stateroom was also a short walking distance from the ship’s aft staircase which ascended to the entrance of Cabanas, the Disney Dream’s breezy breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet. Our verandah was also a nice retreat during the busier times on the ships upper decks. Our verandah was the perfect way to take in the spectacular views and fresh vitamin sea. We cannot praise our stateroom host enough for his excellent service and attention to detail. Wijaya went above and beyond during our time on the Disney Dream.

The Disney Dream’s Senses Fitness area located on deck twelve, forward, offers the same state of the art equipment that you will find in a number of the Walt Disney World Deluxe Resorts as well as Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Senses Fitness Area also offers a number of free and a la carte fitness classes with complimentary abdominal and yoga classes offered during each of our morning visits, and these classes are sure to help you show last night’s dinner who’s boss!  One thing worth noting is that we were completely unaware of the family style dining that takes place on Disney Cruise Lines. Unfortunately we were seated with a group that was not enjoying their time onboard, to say the least. One of the lovely couples we met during our cruise recommended we not waste another second of our trip as unhappy diners. In result, we went to guest relations where they made this change for us. For the rest of our cruise we were seated at a private table which was a dream!  Disney Cruise Line’s dinner service, at least in our experience, does not include any major productions or fanfare during your dinner seating. If you plan to dine at the Royal Palace to see Disney princesses, you will be highly disappointed. Unlike Cinderella’s Royal Table in the Magic Kingdom, there were no characters, and there was no song and dance during dinner service at any of our meals. For us, this was a nice change from the norm of other cruise lines.  The Buccaneer Blast Fireworks at Sea show is the perfect example of how Disney Cruise Line pulls out all of the stops with its daily entertainment. From deck parties to Broadway style shows that rival those in its parks, Disney certainly knows how to put on a show. There is truly nothing like the Fireworks at Sea show, and this alone is completely worth every penny.  We truly believe the purchase and development of Castaway Cay is one of the best decisions the Walt Disney Company has ever made. We were so glad our cruise itinerary included a stop at Castaway Cay. The island is perfectly laid out with endless activities, and there is a flawless balance between family and adult where one does not impede on the other. The only down side was that we eventually had to leave this perfect island in the sun that had as wanting to sign up as permanent residents by the time our day had ended!  Although we've enjoyed our time aboard other cruise lines in the past, we can say without a doubt that the level of service we received, the amount of included onboard amenities, the quality of food offerings, and the unique dining opportunities with rotational dining on the Disney Dream far surpassed any of our experiences on other lines. Our Disney Cruise Line experience was truly a dream come true. For all of these reasons and so much more, Disney Cruise Line has made repeat cruisers out of us and we are very much looking forward to our future sailings with DCL.

We took a the Disney... by abdullahraja

Sail date: /
Ship: Disney Dream

We took a the Disney Dream cruise in January 2016. This was our first cruise and it was exactly how we imagined it. Beautiful decor. Food was excellent (our favorite was at the Royal palace). There are so many activities for kids and adults usually on other cruise lines there are not much things for kids to do. We loved this cruise overall, the experience was amazing and we will cruise again with Disney.

Kudos to the entire Disney staff, what a wonderful way to spend the holidays, The ship was beautifully decorated, and staff all in the holiday spirits.  Our family had a blast and also a great way to disconnect from the hectic life and hectic holiday out floating on the high sea!

Disney dream cruise by Kulj02

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I was blown away by the overall experience.  The cleanliness of the boat was amazing.  The staff was friendly and accommodating.  When my family booked the disney cruise,  my excitement was more for how much fun my 2 young daughters would have.  At the end of the cruise,  I was probably the one who didn't want to leave the most.  My wife and I had an amazing time as well as our 3 and 1 year old daughters.  Our expectations were exceeded completely,  and when we cruise again,  it will be with disney.

First Family Vacation by Shipy2010

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Farming Family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children 16, 13, and 12). Paid for and planned trip for 2 years.  I've traveled with just the kids before and cruised with one at a time but this is the first trip with kids and husband who has never vacationed ever in his 36 years.   I personally thought my kids were too old for Disney but they saw the ship and begged it to be that one.  So we booked 2 Aft cabins 1 inside 7689 and the balcony next door 7690.  Booked the cruise online  and paid on it until it was paid off and booked the flights and hotel separately on our own.  We flew into orlando the day before the cruise to be safe incase of any travel delays.  Used a private transfer company from the airport to the Radisson at the port.  I would have preferred to stay at a resort on the beach but the Radisson gave me a great rate that was half the price of the beach resort and I've stayed at the Radisson before so I liked the familiarity of the resort.  Their ship transfers are nice as well.  Disney embarkation was very smooth and quick, everyone inside the terminal was friendly and smiling.  The Disney Ship was beautiful inside and out and all the crew was very friendly and helpful.  I used the Disney Cruise APP a lot during the cruise to check entertainment, dining hours and menus, and to chat with the 16 year old.  I also pre puchased the photo package before we sailed and that was a great benefit and I would do again and recommend. So many photo opportunities.  I loved the main dining menu selection but was disappointed to learn that cabanas buffet was not open for dinner. Room service was good though.  We enjoyed the 3D theatre to watch a movie on Sea Day and played the Midship Detective game with the kids.  I will be honest and say traveling with a family of 5 it is difficult to keep Everyone happy and entertained.  We loved our stop in Nassau and spent the day at the Atlantis which was probably the best money spent and I can say Everyone was happy at Atlantis the whole day which makes mom happy.  Lots of memories created at the Atlantis.

Pure Disney Magic on the High Seas! by PamnJeff

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our first cruise in quite a while... we were celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary and I wanted to do something special.  Well, "special" is an understatement!

It has been said there is no comparison for a Disney Cruise.  After this cruise, I'd believe they're correct.  The food, service, entertainment, everything... was top-notch.  They say you get what you pay for, and I believe "they" are correct here as well.  Disney cruises are top-dollar, but they're top notch.

Because it was our anniversary, I surprised my wife by going with a concierge cabin.  This was pure luxury, in spite of our being in the smallest concierge cabin available.  The Concierge lounge was remarkable as well as the concierge service.  Truth be told, I'm now spoiled and am willing to spend the extra to get to a suite class on future cruises.

If there was any downside to this cruise, I'd say it was the kids.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE kids, but I prefer them supervised... at least a little.  That's not a dig on Disney or the cruise, but on the parents who feel it's perfectly fine to let 5-7 year old children run around bumping into people left and right.  Ugh, I digress... It's not a blemish on the cruise itself, we had a wonderful time!

First Disney Cruise but not our last! by clemsongirl82

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our first Disney Cruise and we throughly enjoyed it. From the moment you check in at port, they are all about service...and your kiddos....We had so much from all the activities, adult trivia, kids club...we didn't want to come home.  I joke and tell everyone you can lick every elevator button on the ship and not get sick because it is so clean! The kid activities are great and so are the adult activities. Dinner was special each night; we loved how the same wait staff rotate with you through the different restaurants. Castaway Key was amazing; our son didn't want to leave Scuttle Cove! Our room attendants were very talented in making towel animals and always had our room the clean and ready. We will be booking a Disney cruise again!

A Wish For More by labelaire

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We just got back from our three day cruise on the Disney Dream.  This included my Mom (a senior) and my two daughters (10 and 14) and myself.  We had a wonderful time...the shows were great....the day on the Disney Island was both fun and relaxing.  There was something for any age!  The cabins were nice and kept up by our cabin steward who did a wonderful job.  The restaurants were absolutely beautiful, the food was good, and the waiter (Ajus) and assistant waiter (Hugo) provided not only good service, but a light heartedness and humor that added to the enjoyment of each dinner.  We have been on 4 Disney cruises and my wish is for more in the future!

Nice ship. Not AT ALL worth the premium Disney charges. Pick another cruiseline & put your savings toward a longer cruise or more add-ons.

over booked by emamatos

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

We loved that there was so much to do and see but boat was too crowed. My kids loved the aqua ducks slide even though there was a long waiting line to get on. The dinners were a lot of fun too because all the waiters are super friendly and would show little magic tricks to the kids.  I would suggest taking this cruise in a less busy season.

Disney Dreamin' by dcombsbrat

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

It was so amazing it left us dreaming of taking another cruise. The Broadway type shows were fantastic. Castaway Cay is something everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. Snorkeling is such an awesome way to spend time at the beach!  The staff is so upbeat, friendly and helpful. Our dinner staff and stateroom host were fantastic.  Henrique, Air and Ali took such great care for us every night at dinner and for our breakfast before disembarking.  They really helped to give our son a 10th birthday to remember. Ida was our stateroom host.  He was very helpful in finding a fan for us to use at night since we are used to sleeping with the sound of a fan at home. He kept our room fresh. He did a great job of decorating with the birthday package we purchased. I believe the only disappointment I had out of the whole trip was that they were out of banana and strawberry ice cream at the soft serve station on the last day of the cruise (lol).

Our First Disney Vacation by Milliencruz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Our first Disney Vacation - AWESOME!!! We had never experienced a Disney experience and for the cruise being the first I believe it will be hard to top. We enjoyed our short time. Was definitely difficult to disembark. We wish there was mote to keep our 13 year old busy so that we could have enjoyed more of the adult things. I wanted so bad to enjoy a massage and couldn't. But overall...can't wait for our return. Trying to save up now for a 2016 return. Loved Disney Dream!!!!

Disney Dream July 2015 by Arkia72

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

A Disney cruise is a real vacation for everyone in the family. There are activities for every one. There are plenty of things for the kids, of course, this is Disney. But, the adults are not neglected. There is the spa, the golf simulator, workout room, running track, and plenty of less healthful things, too!  Tastings for wine, champagne, tequila, etc. A Mixology class where you learn how to make cocktails! Music, dancing, comedy, really most forms of entertainment. The main evening shows are incredibly entertaining (again, it's Disney!).  And if you just want to relax, there is plenty of space in the larger than average cabins and wonderful deck areas. The unique rotational dining is fabulous and our main server was excellent.  The drink server seemed new and a little overwhelmed so getting our drinks was slow most nights.  The food was above average but not as good as we have had in the past with the exception of the quick service areas on the pool deck; the food there was very good this time.

We just went on our 3rd and booked our 4th Disney cruise while on board!
