Disney is for everyone! by athomeboarding

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

it was a magical experience from the moment you lay your eyes on the boat. the best is to really go with kids, to share this experience with my 10yr old daughter was amazing. The best part was there were 2 portable phones that each one of us had and were able to call each other wherever we were on the ship. this made it convenient  as my daughter wanted to do certain activities as I wanted to enjoy time at the gym etc. the ship was not confusing at all, i actually didn't get lost for once.

the shows each night were Broadway performances and got better each night. the food selection was the best quality ever. the kids lounges were amazing and the level of service was what i expected from Disney. Each day was a new journey of creating our daily schedule, and things to change in a split of a moment.

i was frighten that we were going to get caught in the Hurricane but we did get the end part of the storm where we didn't get a chance to enjoy Castaway as we wanted but we will be back for the 4 day next time to get off and spend the day there. Due to the rain, they were able to promotely keep us informed on dining, new show times to help with the bad weather.

PS - DO THE DOLPHIN EXCURSION ON THE PRIVATE ISLAND, YOU WILL NOT REGRET THIS EXPERIENCE, IT IS A BIT FRIGHTEN NOT KNOWING WHAT TO EXPECT AT FIRST BUT AFTER PURCHASING THE VIDEO AND WATCHING IT, MY DAUGHTER AND I DEFINITELY WILL NEVER FORGET THIS TRIP. THANK YOU DISNEY, YOU TRULY DID AN AMAZING JOB!

Sparkling clean ship; excessive number of little kids! by DisneyGeek

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My family (2 teen kids) loves everything disney & wanted to try this  cruise for quite some time. The cost is many times more than Celebrity, which we sailed on & enjoyed a few years ago.  My husband & I were quietly comparing the 2 ships & honestly prefer Celebrity.  Maybe we expected more since the price is so much more than other ships.  The food was OK, not great.  There was lots of it, but just not the quality I expected.  Dinners had fancy presentations which were nice, service was speedy (much faster than celebrity which was a plus) but honestly I was waiting to be "wowed" & it never happened.  I read later on that the specialty restaurants that you pay extra for had a beautiful brunch the last day at sea. I'm not sure but I think this was for those over 18 only.  It seemed that most people dropped their kids off in camps rather than stay together on this trip.  Tough for teens who want to swim- hundreds of preschoolers were always in the small family pools, and if they're not 18 they can't go to the adult pool.  The Aquaduck was fun!  We enjoyed that. Shows were nice, lots of characters.

Note that there was no need for dressy dinner clothes, most people wore shorts to dinner.  My husband & son never wore long pants since it was warm & very informal.

Castaway Cay was lovely- bring your own snorkeling equipment & save some money!  Also, the stop at the Bahamas is nice & you can get a bus one block away for $1.50/ person that runs between the port area and the resort hotels that have beach access. They were air conditioned vans & both drivers we had were friendly.

Great getaway weekend cruise for kids by Freqcruiser007

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This is the 3rd Disney cruise for me and you cannot beat it for quality, cleanliness, level of entertainment for your kids, but i didnt give 5 stars because there is a lot lacking for young 21+ adults, so if your whole vacation or getaway is 100 % child focused this is the cruise for you.  Other cruise lines have found that balance.  There are plenty of options for adults, but no-one participates.   but if you attend an adult space, other than the adult pool, all other spaces are empty - the entertainers are singing to themselves, other than main showroom, playing music to themselves, karaoke, dancing, bars, etc., all empty.  3 days is all i can take of that, since my vacations are also about fun and relaxing adult time.  Also did enjoy pool attendants not constantly plugging drinks or other sales tactics that other cruise lines go overboard with. it is there and you buy if you want.  Found some obnoxious adults not making room for others (disabled, i might add) on the elevators, worrying about you cutting a line you were just trying to get through, etc., since character lines were long and people lining to get off ship early in front of breakfast locations etc.

We traveled with our family of 8, daughter, son & wife and their 3 children ages 9, 7 and 3 (birthday celebrated on cruise).  It was a trip of a lifetime!  Everyone had a fabulous time - Castaway Cay was so much fun as was the Dolphin Encounter.  We would highly recommend this trip.  Disney does an outstanding job to make sure everyone is happy!LoveHappy

Disney Dream family vacation by blt2200

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The boat is beautiful. The service, food and entertainment are much better than any recent cruises we have been on. I am not a fan of 4000 passenger boats, but this would have to be an exception. The spa is very nice and there are plenty of adult only options. We had thirteen family members ranging in age from 5 to 64 and there was something for everyone. The actors in their entertainment productions were fantastic . The ports are limited but we knew that going on. Kayaking and the sandbar boat trip were our favorites. Our disembarking was the easiest I have ever experienced. Disney does a fantastic job creating a magical holiday. Hats off to Disney!

Disney Dream Cruise by jenmartini81

Absolutely love the Disney cruise, this is my second year in a row going with my son as a single mom. It is a little pricey, but so worth it. Every detail is perfect - you are treated like royalty. I will continue to go yearly with my son, it has now become a tradition!

Good for Children, Fair for Adults by mramos8556

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The variety of activities for children make this a good one for them.  For some adults as I, it is a fair cruise with fair quality of food.  The service was generally good with the exception of tour staff who were reluctant to provide information about local private transportation in Nassau.  Because of the continual ancillary add-on costs, i.e. popcorn, specialty drinks for children, and  tubes and snorkel gear at Castaway Cay, the overall price for this cruise was very expensive compared to other cruise lines. The entertainment, however, was vastly superior  to other cruise lines.

My Disney Experience by fayebranch

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The kids had an awesome time which was the primary reason for the cruise, however for me, I didn't care for the food and it seemed that they were always repairing either the ice cream or pop machines.  Also I didn't like the fact that there were scheduled character appearances, it would have been nice if they did periodic walk thru's on the deck and common areas for more photo opts.  As a result,my grands got no pictures with the characters because they loved the pool.

Wonderful experience except the pool by grunmi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The Disney Dream and the cruise were both great experiences.  The service, food, child care experience, access to Disney Characters and entertainment aboard the ship were the best we have experienced on any cruise and were excellent.  Disney's private island also was the best of all cruise line private islands.  The only problem, and it was major, was the lack of pools for the children.  There were only two postage stamp sized pools for the kids/families and they were so packed they were unusable.  The good greatly out weighted the bad but I will consider a different cruise line (much less costly) with a trip to Disney World for our next special trip.

Great for kids, only so-so for adults by tamara1201

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The cruise offered many activities and freedom for the kids.  However, the adult venues were somewhat lacking compared to other cruises.  We chose this cruise for my niece (11 years old) to enjoy so it served it purpose.

The food was OUTSTANDING!  The service was OUTSTANDING!  The private island (Castaway Cay) was very enjoyable.

Unforgettable by vilelita

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

It was an amazing and unforgettable experience for me and for my family. I liked everything. Only one thing I guess it could be better: I don´t agree with "no children" areas because Disney is for children. If an adult don´t want children near, so must choose an other kind of cruise. But it was very nice anyway. I thing my 2 year son will remember this trip all life.

Love

Amazing! by ellencornell1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Disney does it right! Wonderful from start to finish. Activities, shows, dining, staff, and the Castaway Cay experience all are fantastic. This is the third time I have taken my granddaughters in the past four years on the Dream, and each time we debark, they want to know when they can go again. The kids club is so much fun, the four year old only ate with us one night because she enjoyed the club so much. Pricey, but worth it!

Enjoyable vacation with family by sgscv33

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We have gone on several cruises with family members,,,all of them being special, but the Disney cruise topped them all. First class all the way.....The little ones were occupied, the adults had their own space.  Lots of activities on the ship and on land----Castaway Cay is beautiful--a relaxing day for all.

We hope to go on another Disney cruise in the near future!

Outstanding Disney Cruise by jpmproto

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our second Disney Cruise and was, overall, a great cruise. One thing to be aware of, in the past DCL has taken children just under 3 into their Oceaneer club if they were potty trained. That policy has changed, there are no exceptions, they have to be at least 3 years of age, if they are a day under they won't allow them in which was disappointing for granddaughter who is 4 weeks under the age of 3 and is potty trained but was not allowed in.
