Disney Dream 4 Night Bahamas Cruise by reanniec

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Everything about the cruise and experience was wonderful.  Disney has cruising down to a science.  I would definitely book another Disney cruise in the very near future.

Disney knows how to Cruise! by bmsolis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my families seventh cruise, first Disney Cruise; 4 day Bahamas, Castaway Cay cruise on the Dream.  Very nice ship, for holding over 4,000 people it didn't seem that crowded, except for when re-boarding at the ports.  Great evening shows, loved the magic show the first night and the Golden Mickey's show the other two were good as well.  Really enjoyed the rotation of the dinner restaurants, always had the same wait staff, which as expected did an amazing job.  Children's club was unbelievable!  Occupies the space of where most ships have the casino....so it was HUGE!  Tons of activities, organized events and art projects and of course every Disney game or simulation game imaginable. If your a Disney movie fan then you will love the cruise, the movie theater showed movies still in the theater, the pool screen always had a movie playing and the TV in the rooms had all of the cartoons and movies on demand at no extra cost.  The family pool area was always crowded, but not as bad as most ships we've been on.  Adult area which occupies the forward 1/3 of the ship was never full, it was a nice oasis from the busy family zone. AquaDuck water slide was awesome!  Go when it opens or after 6pm to avoid long lines, there was always a minimum of a 20 minute wait, in the afternoon it was over 45+ minutes.  The Port of Nassau is just like any port in the Caribbean, lots of shopping and bars.....if you haven't been to Atlantis, you have to see it, it's a bit pricey but it's the best thing to do on the island, great waterslides and a very cool aquarium.  Castaway Cay is worth the cruise alone.  Picturesque private island, the snorkeling was unbelievable....underwater sunken ships, submarines and statues.  The floating waterslide/island is a lot of fun.  This also was the easiest place to see the Disney characters.  They have an organized 5K run upon arrival in the morning, great way to see the island and start the day with a little exercise. Pirate night is so much fun, everyone dresses up in pirate attire, they have two pirate shows on the pool deck....one in-between the two dinner seatings and the grand finale show and fireworks display at around 10:30pm...get there early to get a good place as it's extremely crowded.  After the fireworks the Cabana's restaurant has food and a desert bar open for an hour or so.

The negatives to the trip are very limited, lines to see the characters seemed to take forever unless you signed up for them prior to boarding with a scheduled appointment, sign up for the princess meeting ASAP.  Re-boarding the ship in Nassau was a joke, no fault of Disney, but prior to getting back on the ship you had to go through a security check-point at the entrance to the dock with the cruise passengers from the other ships.  The day we were there we had three other ships, so the check point took over an hour to get through especially around the 2pm-4:30pm time frame.  Castaway Cay re-boarding was very easy since we were the only ship.

Having been on Carnival and Royal Caribbean, Disney knows customer service and what children enjoy....it's great for a family vacation with children 17 and under, primarily for the activities and entertainment.  See you again soon Disney!!!

Great cruise to take 12 or under on by citimom0314

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The cruise was great. You can't go wrong if deciding to take a Disney cruise. I stayed the most busy on this cruise then any other one. Wasn't enough time to do it all. If you have 12 or under kids, this is a definite have to but don't worry even for the older ones plenty to do. It is more geared for 12 and under though. Our experience, the shows weren't as great as I read but still they have great singers and dancers and the villains show is the best. Castaway cay was my favorite part. We snorkeled and saw several sea turtles and a sting ray and lots of beautiful fish along with really cool things they put in the water to dive to. Safety is great on this ship. Lifeguards everywhere just like they have it at resorts. There service is awesome and of course it's Disney so they have serving food down packed and never has to wait for food. The rotation of the dining rooms is a super idea! They did not blow their famous horn though! Don't know if they were not working or not. Also the officers on this ship (dream) actually talked to us as they passed by. Never had this on any other ship. The areas that I saw negative reviews it seemed like Disney might actually read their reviews cause I saw them fix and done a better way. Thankfully on the ship service is their number one priority now they just need to fix their service in actual Disney world. Whoever is in charge on Walt Disney world needs to take lessons from whoever is in charge of Disney cruise line! We had a great time and the cruise restored some of the magic back for me!

Disney Dream fulfills dreams! by bhsabo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I went on this cruise with my grandson for his 8th birthday.  The expression on his face as he rode the aqua duck or participated in pirate night was priceless.  He was excited from the time he woke up until he went to bed at night. The food and service was excellent.  He was in awe of the magic tricks by our waiters to the towel creations by our room attendant. It was a dream fulfilled for him.

Fun fun fun! by mariees

the shows were awesome and the service was incredible!  There was one crew member Sherika Smith, who made our cruise particularly fantastic.  Our daughter cut her toe on the door of the buffet restaurant.  Sherika went out of her way to ale sure we were taken care of and even sending an extra gift to our room from "Captain Mickey."  It was fantastic. We will be cruising with Disney again!

Overall it was decent by larissamavronas

The pools and buffet should be open for the kids all day.  It is difficult to get smaller children to sit down and wait for a longer meal. They want to play in the pool more than anything.

Great for kids, not as great for parents by mmeowmix99

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Let's start with the good. The ship itself was great. The cabins were adorable, we loved the porthole in our inside cabin! I also liked that there was a tub and shower! And the tv options were great! The staff was extremely friendly and would bend over backwards for you. And can we talk about the restaurants? Amazing!! We loved the rotational dining! The soft serve ice cream banana strawberry flavor was a major plus! And we enjoyed being able to get soft drinks whenever we wanted. The nemo pool was s huge hit with our 4 yr old! He could have stayed there all day every day! The pools are great for kids because they are extremely shallow. We didn't like that the pools closed at 3:00 and 6:00.... We like night swimming! And weren't too happy that they closed so early. Also, a normal depth pool would be nice for the whole family to enjoy.. Not just 18+ they also closed the hot tubs before they were supposed to. We did the aquaduck once, when the lights Ned seemed the shortest and we still waited about an hour. Ya have to do it once I guess but it's really slow and not that fun. The buffet hours are ridiculous.. Breakfast ends too soon and lunch isn't long enough and there isn't a dinner buffet. We are used to every other cruise line out there where the buffet only closes for like a half hour between meals. The selection looked great, but it's filled with weird things not everyone is going to enjoy. I ate s slab of beef every single day for lunch. It was good, but I would have at least liked some variety or at least some kind of potato to go with it.. I'm not s huge pizza pan but I did try the pizza and it was really good. In the dining rooms there was only ever one option on the menu I settled for. It always ended up tasting good though. The desserts were generally awful in the dining rooms.. Which is sad because other cruise line desserts rock! With the one exception of the royal palace.. The strawberry shortcake sundae and creme brûlée were to die for! As for the shows, we never made it to any.... Because usually when you have the later dining, the show is after. And on this cruise it was before and we were never ready by the time it started. a Disney cruise is something we have always wanted to do, but now that we've done it once we'll never need to do it again. We'll stick with Royal or Carnival where there's a good mix for kids and adults and you get way more for your money :)

Wonderful experience by lcagle8820

I will probably never take another cruise line again. We were booked on carnival a few months later and ended up canceling because we just can see ourselves going with anyone but Disney!  Their island is beautiful.

Excellent by skrutzler1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Beautiful ship, great service, delicious food, awesome kid environment. Loved how they manage people so it didn't feel too crowded, awesome shows!   Suggestions for improvement: need more than 2 elec. outlets for charging phones (AKA cameras) and devices. outdoor lifeboat drill was not good (other ships do it sitting in A/C). No internet cafe or gym. Kids never got into pools as they were closed for cleaning all afternoon. Beach at Castaway Cay was rocky and rough on the feet, shuttle should pick guests up closer to gangplank. Should give 1 free bottle of water to each guest when disembarking.

The dream was a dream by jsmiles224

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was a first time cruise for myself and my boys and it was perfect from start to finish. The rooms and boat were all exceptionally clean, food was great, and staff was exceptional. Everything was easy and simplistic. We had no issues at our ports of call and had a blast on our entire trip. This is something we'll definitely be soon again

Very good, but not excellent. Maybe I hyped it up too much in my head. by ljfishman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I cruised with my husband, 1.5, 3.5 year old boys, and my mother-in-law.  Everyone working on the ship was nice and professional.  The food was good, not great; a lot of the food was catered to children.  The waiters were good, but nothing extra special.  (Didn't offer to cut our kid's food, which we had heard they did.)The only great meal we had was at Palo.  The character meets were fabulous, by far the highlight of the cruise.  My 3 year old loved the kids club, they had so many rooms and programs offered.  My 1 year cried entering and leaving the nursery the one time he went,  and came out with a diaper rash; although they say they check them every 30 minutes.  The Nemo spray area and yellow mickey slide were great, the kids enjoyed those.  Overall, people rave about Disney cruises and say how they'll never go on another cruise line after Disney.  I've been on Celebrity and Princess cruises which had better food, service, and pampering.

Best money EVER spent!!! We had a ball, even though I was sea sick the first night. The great staff on the ship gave me a little magic pill and the rest was smith sailing. I would definitely recommend all of my friends and family members to experience a  Disney Cruise at least once in their lifeLove My family's hooked and we'll be booking another one right here on Bookit, because they made it possible and affordable.

For our 1st cruise, we could not have had a better experience! Everything was truly magical and we enjoyed every minute! The service and food were impeccable with lots of choices. Compared to other ships at the dock in Nassau, the Disney Dream looked so much better. My family had an amazing time and we will be booking another Disney Cruise.

This cruise is fantastic.

The ship is massive and almost impossible to see it all on a weekend trip.

The service is excellent from the room steward to the entertainment...top notch!

Awesome service by pleasants822

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Customer service was the best. My agent was able to get us the best rate for our first Disney cruise. My only issue was the location of our room due to noise during sleeping hours and motion of boat. There was also an error with booking excursions, Disney refunded our money on board the cruise.
