CROWN PRINCESS IS BROKEN by hyde4funxs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Crown Princess is BROKEN!!! We are currently on the Crown Princess. One of the motors is broken, there is a terrible vibration in the back of the ship and sounds horrible. In the dining rooms you have to almost yell to hear others at your table. The ship is also traveling at very slow speed. Port times have gone from a day to just a few hours, due to travel speed times. Another port has been canceled all together. When visiting with customer service, I’ve been told this has been a problem for the last several cruises. I asked why we weren’t notified? They stated they did send notification of the itinerary changes. They did send notification 24 hours prior to departure. I checked emails, we were notified late Friday, We we’re traveling to the departure port city on Friday for early boarding on Saturday and didn’t have service or check emails. We are now stuck on a ship for 7 days. Only 3 ports of call and 2 of those shortened excursion days with excursions canceled. Only one excursion day is longer than 6 hours. The cruise is over 168 hours with in port times less than a total of 26 hours. WE used to cruise every year, we always wanted to do an Alaska cruise, now I think we’re done never cruising again! -- Jim Hyde

Avoid Crown Princess/Alaska until engines are fixed by JanF3333

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Cruised to Alaska May 21-28, 2022 but ship had engine troubles that caused 1 full-day port visit (Ketchikan) to be canceled and a second day in Juneau cut to just a few hours. Lost out on all excursions in both ports. Substitute port for Ketchican (Icy Strain Point) was also canceled when engines were running even worse than expected. Reading prior reviews, I now see that these engine troubles and port cuts have been ongoing since the ship was put back into service (post Covid) in April. Probably will continue through the summer so suggest you avoid this ship unless you just want to stay onboard and not get off at any ports. Also found the staff to be undertrained and overworked. They were pleasant, but stressed. Food was sub-par. I expected better compared with past cruises, but perhaps they have drastically cut costs that result in very mediocre food. The Medallion Class app was really a nuisance. Didn't work well and staff had to use it to order everything so it took a long time to do anything and there were many billing mistakes. Also a pain for us since we were frequently unable to look up events and make reservations due to the uneven performance.

NEVER CRUISING AGAIN..EVER....At least not with Princess by tracivk7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This cruise was my honeymoon trip. We were so excited to see Alaska and cruise for the first time but we were only met with utter disappointment. We basically paid $5,300 to sit on a old, dirty, broken ship for 7 days. The "entertainment" lacked major, we were so bored! The company sent everyone a letter to say the ship engine was broken, engine not working properly and we could not fulfill the full itinerary that we bought which included a port stop in Ketchikan. It was replaced with a small port called Icy Strait Point which we only had 2 hours to look around but it so small it only took maybe 20 minutes at most. Because of the engine problems, we were late arriving to Victoria so that was also a pointless port stop. On top of all this, in stateroom has a sewage pipe link that made the floor in front of the bathroom and the front door soaking wet. They shampooed the carpet and went on their merry way but the smell was so bad after getting back on the ship at the Victoria port we asked to be moved to another room. They accommodated but that took an hour and a half to figure out and then the room they did give us smelled like cigarette smoke. We notified the front desk so that they didn't think it was use who smoked in the room and said they'd send a manager up but the manager never showed up. Come to find out on the day of disembarkment that the entire Deck 9 that we were on had the same issues we did but it wasn't disclosed to us that this was an issue on an entire deck of the ship. What is most upsetting is that Princess is NOT transparent, truthful, and completely unreliable......overall you just can't trust them to deliver what they sold you. With all that being said I would suggest going with Norwegian Cruise Lines to see Alaska.

A sanctuary during a time of uncertainty by nancyjcbs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean

We began this cruise as coronavirus was making its way to the United States. We believe everyone was healthy and felt safely cocooned from the rest of the world. Great weather, friendly people, lots of activities and time with my best friend made it an awesome trip!

Crown Princess needs a little help by maraviclin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess

We were a group of eight. My husband, myself, my mother and sister and two couple who are friends of ours. We are able to make our own fun, which we did wherever we went. My husband did the steel drum classes, which he thoroughly enjoyed. To the point where he is making himself a steel from for home. 🧐🤨. The ship is a little run down, but I understand the Crown is due for dry dock, so hopefully she will have all her problems resolved.

2nd Princess cruise by dbjbcjd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess

We have decided to probably not do any more Princess Cruises. Carnival has more to do and has a more perky bunch of people, Princess seems to be for the very old, and they seem to, like it that way. We are 56 and 65 and do enjoy a busy life. Princess is just to slow for us.

Awesome ports of call by mrsrags

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

A wonderful selection of ports of call . Ship needs more overhaul and I hear that is happening in Oct 2020. We shall see because we are booked for Jan 2021. Not sure if the Ocean Ready Medallion app has caused staff to be less interactive with passengers, but I hope that remedies itself soon, you go on a cruise to feel attended to and have fun. You expect supreme customer service -as we have had on past cruises with Princess.

Great Trip by Harley18

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We will cruise Princess again as all of our experiences were very positive. We will try a different ship next time only to try something new and exciting, but I do hope the repairs are made on the Crown to allow the stop at Princess Cays as this was our one disappointment in the trip.

Very nice until I got home and discovered all of my jewelry was missing and a digital recorder was gone!!!! by eliane8446

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Caribbean

MY PRINCESS CROWN CRUISE WAS VERY NICE. ALL WENT SMOOTHLY AND WAS ENJOYING MOST OF MY DAYS, UNTIL ARRIVING HOME AND UNPACKING MY SUITCASES AND SEARCHING FOR ALL MY JEWELRY THAT WAS IN A SEE THROUGH POUCH. ALSO, MISSING WAS MY AUDIO DIGITAL TAPE RECORDER WHICH I USE EVERY NIGHT TO PUT ME TO SLEEP DUE TO MY TINNITUS. YOU NEED TO SECURE THE BAGGAGE AREA WHERE EVERYONES SUITCASES ARE STORED UNTIL DISEMBARKING THE SHIP. HOW MANY OTHER PASSENGERS HAVE HAD THINGS STOLEN FROM THEIR SUITCASES? Eliane Rocca. ROOM A429. 5133 Inagua Way, NAPLES, FL. 34119
