Review summary

This cruise was my honeymoon trip. We were so excited to see Alaska and cruise for the first time but we were only met with utter disappointment. We basically paid $5,300 to sit on a old, dirty, broken ship for 7 days. The "entertainment" lacked major, we were so bored! The company sent everyone a letter to say the ship engine was broken, engine not working properly and we could not fulfill the full itinerary that we bought which included a port stop in Ketchikan. It was replaced with a small port called Icy Strait Point which we only had 2 hours to look around but it so small it only took maybe 20 minutes at most. Because of the engine problems, we were late arriving to Victoria so that was also a pointless port stop. On top of all this, in stateroom has a sewage pipe link that made the floor in front of the bathroom and the front door soaking wet. They shampooed the carpet and went on their merry way but the smell was so bad after getting back on the ship at the Victoria port we asked to be moved to another room. They accommodated but that took an hour and a half to figure out and then the room they did give us smelled like cigarette smoke. We notified the front desk so that they didn't think it was use who smoked in the room and said they'd send a manager up but the manager never showed up. Come to find out on the day of disembarkment that the entire Deck 9 that we were on had the same issues we did but it wasn't disclosed to us that this was an issue on an entire deck of the ship. What is most upsetting is that Princess is NOT transparent, truthful, and completely unreliable......overall you just can't trust them to deliver what they sold you. With all that being said I would suggest going with Norwegian Cruise Lines to see Alaska.

Late!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Due to shortage in staff, 2 restaurant where closed the entire time. Buffets didn't open on time so you waited around but then they would close on time leaving the window to get food shorter. Orders through the Medallion app for food and drink were not accurate or took a long time.

Onboard Activities

Pools were closed due to weather, "movies under the stars" wasn't enjoyable since it was either raining or very windy & cold. There was hardly anything to do during the day as the productions they put on didn't start until 7:30pm. Entertainment was line dancing where they taught you the same thing each time, trivia, play board games, look at fine art......it was very boring. I spent more time in my cabin watching movies

Entertainment

The stage shows were ok but there just wasn't enough to keep you entertained

Service and Staff

Very nice staff but you could tell they were stretched thin

Ship Quality

This ship needs a major overhaul. It looks like it's been through a war. The entire place is outdated, the decks need attention. This ship in general is not mention for cold weather cruises.

Cabin / Stateroom

The size of our mini-suite was fine however the bathroom was slightly bigger than one you'd fine on an airplane. My husbands head touched the ceiling in the shower and he's 6'3''

Cruise Glacier Bay

This isn't a port you get off the ship for. It was beautiful

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

Tiny port, 5 minute or less walk to a few shops and crab stand. This port was in place of Ketchikan and it was very disappointing

Victoria, British Columbia

Because of engine/generator issues, we were an hour and 1 minutes late to this port. Arrived at 8:15 and didn't get off the boat until 9pm so it was getting dark and most of the businesses closed by 10pm. We just walked to town for an hour and 30 minutes to pass time and then went back to the boat cause there was nothing to do.
