First Princess Cruise by janiet72

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

This was my first Princess Cruise.  Overall it was a very good experience.  The ship was immaculate, which is important to me.  The crew and staff were pleasant an efficient.  The food was excellent.

The only negatives I experienced were the number of passengers.  The next cruise will be on a smaller ship.

Although I requested a robe in my cabin, there was none and I had to request one twice from my steward.  Finally got one on the third day of my cruise.

I was disappointed there was very little bingo, as I look forward to those events.

I was surprised and disappointed that there was no panoramic lounge in the forward part of the ship in which to view our forward journey.

Overall, it was a very nice experience, and as always, I hated to have to disembark. Happy

Much Happier with Carnival by Debbrown63

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

Buffet food was lukewarm, Limited accessibility to food.  Service personnel did not answer phone promptly, Cabin staff made no effort to learn our names. Cabin was much smaller than comparable room on Carnival. Confusing or no "signage" when instructed to go to a specific location. Loud "background" music in relax/reading/lounge areas.

some good, some not so good by JimTh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

Was 12 hours late boarding due to weather delays....Princess didn't do much

to mitigate.....meager communication and the little there was, was pathetic

The cruise itself was fine....ship was in decent shape, service was fine.  The excursion director was really helpful when we missed a scheduled excursion.

great get away. by xstalc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

Everything was wonderful. I was nervous as I had booked this for my husbands birthday, and neither of us had cruised before. Everything was great.

I enjoyed the trip to Dona Lupas organic vineyard. What a power house of a lady.

High School Reunion Cruise by Cruiser614

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

We were a group of sixteen who enjoyed our second "mini-reunion" on the Crown Princess cruise listed above.  We were told ahead that there had been cases of noro virus on board on the cruise before ours.  The crew worked diligently throughout our cruise, cleaning and serving us in the dining areas, to keep us as healthy as possible.

Our only complaint would be that, due to a late start leaving San Pedro, all dining was "open seating"; however, we were not informed of that ahead of time and our group was't able to be together that first night at dinner.  Also, not being able to touch anything in the buffet line made for a slow move through the line and our not being able to customize our meals.  After our first buffet lunch, we began having our meals solely in the dining room - a big plus!

Norovirus nightmare by mackenziesui663

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

My Sister and brother-in-law came to visit from Scotland.  We wanted to take our 82 year old aunt on a cruise. She had never been on a cruise.  We were notified by email that we would be boarding late as they were disinfecting the ship from norovirus.  We were not given any rescheduling options.  We enjoyed our first night at sea and took notice of the cautious service especially in the dining areas.  The next day was when our elderly relative fell violently ill.  This was when the cruise became a nightmare.  Not just because she was ill but because of how we were then treated.  My aunt was quarantined to her room for the remainder of the cruise.  She was not offered any medical attention and was not allowed to disembark in Mexico to see a physician there.  As her roommate, I was allowed to leave and I had to bring her food and water and clean up after her.  We spent the remainder of the cruise attending to her.  He well being was never addressed.  Upon returning to Long Beach, we, along with around 20 other groups were led to a separate disembarking area.  This was all too obviously the fault of the cruise line and no apologies were offered to any of the groups and it felt as if we were lepers that they were all too happy to have gone.  I have never been made to feel more unwelcome and awkward.  I felt as if the separate disembarking was more to shield the remainder of the attendees from the fact that around 20 people became violently ill while on the boat and in hopes to avoid negative publicity.  We should have been offered refunds for our cruises.  The crew should give more attention to the ill and especially the young and elderly guests as they are most at risk of death from a virus such as this.  The ship crew's blatant avoidance made it seem more like they were protecting their image rather than avoiding an epidemic.  Unfortunately this was her first and last cruise ever just from this experience.  I would have expected more professional service as I do expect illnesses do happen regularly on these cruises, however, it seemed they had procedure in place but no compassion.  This is not what I expect from this particular cruise line.

10 night Mexican Riviera and Sea of Cortz by carolynscw

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

Captain much in control after virus outbreak. Well handled.

Disappointed in handling of restaurant reservations - when allowed!  Ridiculous to state "Anytime dining" with extreme limitations.  Waiting on long lines for dining and otherwise is not a "luxury cruise" item.  Experienced and were annoyed by the lineups.

Dirty dishes, utensils and plenty of lip sticks on glasses by dannyherg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

We had to request more then two times in one day to have the glasses replaced. I like lipstick on my wife's mouth not on glasses that I don't know where they came from. Dirty dishes and utensils, some waiters had bed attitude when asked to clean the table for us. Room service was outstanding. The comedian had a hart time making us laugh.

Nice cruise to nowhere by lamrose

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

I have been on 30 to 40 cruises, and this was maybe the most different that I have been on.  The weather was the problem, nothing the cruise company could control.  We were to stop in Catalina, be the water was too choppy to be able to use the shore boats as someone may have gotten hurt boarding them.  They opted to go to San Diego.......a number of the passengers drove from San Diego to take the cruise, so they sailed back home.  Ensanada was also a problem, too rough to dock the boat, so we turned around and headed back to LA.

Princess had no control of the weather, but I think some type of compensation from Princess would have been appreciated.

Food was good, cabin was fine, the help was more than helpfull, on problem was the disembarkation......we were encouraged to take our own luggage off of the ship in the arrival morning.  Due to the fact there was a full ship, (3000 plus on board), it made a real problem getting everything on a elevator as the crowds were over whelming, and tempers were short.  Think Princess should revamp their thinking when it comes to disembarkation.

Other than that it was a relaxing trip to nowhere.

Not up to Princess standards but not terrible by BobAtLarge

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

In general, service and dining were mediocre; not what I expected from Princess. It seemed like Princess staffed the ship with 2nd team players.

Weather was bad but captain seemed to do his best managing a bad situation.

I did like substituting San Diego Animal Safari for Catalina since waters and weather were to rough to enjoy Catalina anyway.

Also, the ship needs work. We could hear significant engine vibrations way up on the 11th deck and occasionally hear and feel a strong thump as if the ship went over a speed bump in the ocean; didn't know the ocean had speed bumps.

Our New Year cruise by figueroatransla

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

We had a great time however i think that the accommodations were not as I expected them to be, a bit below my expectations. The service by the cabin attendant were ok as long as it concerns to the upkeep of the cabin but extra services where not there. Had to ask for soap when it was missing for the shower and my robes didn't arrive until the third day.

Over all, the food was good, not great with the exception of the Specialty Restaurant The Grill, where not only the food was great but the service by the waiter was SUPERB!Yummy

Great relaxing cruise by cswanson705

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

Since this was our second Mexican Riviera cruise with Princess, we didn't do any onshore activities. Instead, we just stayed on board and relaxed. As usual, the food, entertainment and staff were excellent. Looking forward to our next cruise with Princess since we are now Ruby status.

Amazing service! by yuliachesnokov

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

It was the first time we vacationed on a cruise liner and it was amazing! The sites of the cities, the rooms, and the cherry on the top the service! From housekeeping to waiters such as Victor, Jose, and Seratin. I would highly recommend going on a cruise if ever you're ever wondering about it.

Handicap wheelchair assistance by tomorrow

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

My husband requires a wheelchair to get on board and to depart - I had rented a rolling  transport for him and it was in the cabin when I got on board - the stipulation with that company was that the transport was to be left in the cabin when we left. I went down to guest services the next day and asked if a wheelchair will come to the cabin when we were ready to depart to take us down to the designated station where we were to wait - was told at the desk this was not a policy of Princess - they suggested that when i was ready to leave the cabin to take my husband down to deck 7 - I was on 10 - deposit hiin the waiting area and hop back on the elevator to bring the roller back to tcabin - husband is 91 and I am 86 - told her this was ridiculous - they provide assistance upon coming on board and they should do the same upon departure - wasl told this was not the policy of Princess - I left - next day went back down to guest services - saw another young lady Hailey and told her my story - told her also that there was no way I could leave my husband down on his own as he has dementia - he would get scared - she said she would speak to her supervisor - came back and said they would make an exception with me - to call before I left the cabin and someone would come with the wheelcair and take him off. -which did happen - how do they expect people who cannot walk long distances to get to the elevators on the day of departure and leave?? crawl down the hallways on their hands and knees - this policy for handicappedI  people is not acceptable.----   Did not like the cabinn - way too small - had a balcony - and the plastic shower curtain in the bathroom was not a good thing - I have cruised with Norweigen - Holland America - many with irCelebrity and never had a problem with disembarking with wheechair - will not look at Princess cruises again - this was my first experience with this line and my last.

<img class='agent-replacement' src='/images/hideagent.png'> makes Cashback Offer Difficult by jethro

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

Cruise was good. makes the rebate/cashback offer difficult.  They obviously count on the people who book with them and then forget to apply for the cashback after returning from the cruise, or they count on the people who don't want to go through the hassle of applying for the cashback so doesn't have to pay the promised cashback offer.  Why doesn't just give the cashback offer automatically without the hassle of applying?  1 star for .  4 stars for Princess Cruise.  As for the Cruise itself, the staff was attentive and entertainment good.  We couldn't attend any of the special invitation events for Platinum Members because they conflicted with dinner or other events.  Boo.  Another complaint is that we were bombarded with "pay extra" salespeople asking to pay for upgraded dinner, pay for bottle of water, pay for wine tasting, pay for brewed black coffee, pay for pictures, etc., etc., The ship was nice.  The standard food was good.  Service in the dining room (anytime seating) was very, very slow.
