Review summary

Highlight was the Chefs dinner ... great wines ... fantastic food. Wine paring lunch was very interesting ... some of the food was interesting ... some of wines superb. Good Spirits was a hit. Product knowledge and delivery outstanding.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Long lines but the cruise staff tried to help (I unfortunately had to use a walker) Cruise line did its best to deal with a terminal that was not built to handle large ships

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Italian was fantastic …steak and seafood average …buffets poor and tasteless … main dining disorganized and the food variable … one bar was exceptional (Good Spirits) …all other bars poor and inexperienced. Product knowledge was poor.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Cannot judge ... I did not participate

Entertainment

4 out of 5
First review was exceptional ... magic show was good ... enjoyed the violins in the Piazza ... definitely appreciated the reserved seating with great access to see the entertainment

Children's Programs

We did not bring our grand children on the cruise

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our steward was exceptional ... room service was generally quick but the staff needs listen more closely (in most cases something was missed ... no sugar ... no spoons ... no butter ... even when requested.) Waiters on the floor were friendly, prompt and efficient.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship is showing its age ... rust on the balconies and windows. It was absolutely clean and well maintained. I found the layout challenging ... only some floors provided through access with the exception of the cabin floors ... only decks 15 and 7 (on one side) provided full length access.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our room was the best ... fantastic stewart ... never needed anything that was not delivered. Clean, comfortable and a great size for us.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia Did not visit port

We live here.

Sitka, Alaska

1 out of 5
Town needs to get more involved in providing interesting sites .... not just jewelry salesmen trying to sell $18,000 earrings. Excursions were limited

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

1 out of 5
Weather was poor. Visability weak. Ship did not get too close. There are other better glaciers in the area. I do not know why this one was selected.

Skagway, Alaska

2 out of 5
Not much change since our last visit (15 years ago) but better than Sitka/

Juneau, Alaska

3 out of 5
Access by shuttles very hard to board ... crowded to the max ... again not much has changed

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

3 out of 5
I appreciate the support for indigenous entrepreneurs ... a great new addition with an assortment of interesting activities

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
Port facilities were incredible ... nice job ... town was easy to access ... most attractive shopping site of the cruise.

Victoria, British Columbia

3 out of 5
l lived here but my wife was able to meet here niece for lunch

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Went very smoothly ... we were offered assistance and she expedited our transition through the facilities and got us to our taxi

It is a shame you did not do the totem excursion in Sitka. They are some of the most beautiful. Better than Ketchikan & Stanley Park in Vancouver.
