Crown Princess

7 Night Inside Passage With Glacier Bay National Park (Seattle Roundtrip)

Sail date: August 06, 2022

Ship: Crown Princess

Cabin type: Suite

Cabin number: E722

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Review summary

Cruise was nice, but Princess cancelled our Ketchikan port visit and substituted Icy Strait Point, a cruiseline owned stop which was basically just a bunch of cruiseline owned tourist shops. I should have complained to the cruiseline or asked for at least a partial refund, but ran out of time due to other issues.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Princess's bussing process from SEA airport was poorly executed and resulting an hour and a half wait for transportation to the ship. Should've just taken an uber.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was good, not great in the main dining rooms and buffets. Crown Grill was excellent.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Not a lot of activities onboard (too cold to use the pools). For an Alaskan cruise, assumed they would have planned for this.

Entertainment

5 out of 5

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
Wish they would have services for kids under 3.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was incredibly courteous and friendly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Wish the mini-suite would have a curtain or something that would close between the bed and sitting area where we put the pack-n-play for our son.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

4 out of 5

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
We ended up renting a car for the day from the airport which enabled my parents to easily tour and see the things we wanted to see.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Love Skagway, white pass train ride was wonderful. Definitely book through Skymiles, we had a lot better experience than those booking though the ship.

Cruise Glacier Bay

2 out of 5
Time in Glacier Bay was fogged out, not cruise line's fault, but was one of the things I was looking the most forward to and saw basically nothing.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

1 out of 5
Was a substitute port from what was originally purchased and was not worth the very short stop.

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
Ships should stay here longer, there is a lot to do. Pedicab tour was wonderful!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
PortValet service made our disembarkation easy.
