Wonderful Crusie by KathyC13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our ship was clean and beautifully decorated. The service was very good. We took our kids (age 8, 11, 14, 15) for the first time and our kids loved the kids programs and loved making friends from other countries. One things that was different from our other cruises was the diversity of passengers. I very much enjoyed this aspect of this ship. The announcements in different languages did NOT get on my nerves, but enhanced our vacation.

Costa Atlantica by TysonS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

If you can read this you will likely enjoy a budget american cruise line more than Costa. If the price is the same. I am an American and I speak English. I never realized how quickly listening to everything in three to five languages could get teadious. The entertainment often lost its flow because every statement had to be repeated in many languages. The announcer would switch from English to Italian to Spanish to French and would be five words into the next English phrase before you realized that you should have started paying attention already.

Value for the money by ChrisN37780892

The price of the cruise was great. This was my 7th cruise, and first with Costa. Spend extra money and upgrade to a better cruise line.

Great Cruise! by DavinderG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Overall impression of the ship is excellent! The ship had excellent decor, very well-maintained and clean. Crew were friendly and the service was great. However, food was not great quality. Boticelli restaurant served practically the same menu for the entire duration.

the ports of call were nice with the exception of Grand Truk and the tour into the so called town. the cruise line should not even offer that has a tour. overall the cruise was very nice and crew was friendly.

Disappointed... by LoriH1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We started off the cruise being separated from our party of 8 for our dining table. Since there are four children in our party - this was a huge disappointment! The food was average and the presentation was average. The desserts were below average. Poor selection and quality. The cabin was good size with a balcony, which was a nice change for a cruise. Didn't care for the "smoking" sections that seemed to change daily on the ship. Sometimes you didn't smell it but for the most part you did....non-smokers would be disappointed. Costa has a new policy for gratuities, which is automatically charged $11.00 per person - per day. And I ask...."if it is manditory, TIPS, which means "to insure prompt service," is shot out the window. Service was below to average possible a result of this policy. The daily activities were boring and there was only about 6-8 all day long. Usually, 1 - 2 opportunities to play bingo - yet the cards were a steep $10.00 a card. The afternoon tea was delightful. And lastly, the ports....The port stops didn't allow much time for activities..... You truly must choose only one thing....or be disappointed when you realize you've run out of time and have to be on the ship an hour prior to departure.

Never again!!! by AntonioD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I scheduled this cruise to celebrate our 20Th Wedding Anniversary and from the start it was a nightmare. As we entered the boarding process, Costa personnel were unfriendly and with attitude. Food was not available after 2300. Pool/Lido area was always dead instead of having music/food to keep passengers entertained. There was only one nightclub available for all ages therefore no specific activities planned (11-14, 15-17, etc) that could have the whole family enjoy the cruise at the same time. Every time a member of my family asked for information/assistance, the first answer was that they did not know or an easy NO. I frequently saw Officers abuse their crew and yell at them in front of guests even when it was obvious that they were working as hard as they could. Officers of the crew were arrogant. I have never seen in any other cruise crew members sit among guests to eat and smoke. I personally do not have a problem with that, but when they occupy chairs for guests leaving non left available guests to sit, I do. Finally and to end this ridiculous trip, Costa managed to lose one of our bags full of jewelry, nightgowns and shoes. Right now I am getting the run-around by their legal department. I have spent the entire morning trying to get them on the phone. If you are a regular cruiser, do not ever travel with Costa Cruise Line; It was a total disappointment.

Very clasy and fun cruise by BobP1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This ship is beautiful and classy. I loved the layout, with the dining, theater and casino down on the 2nd & 3rd level, and swimming on the top level. No waiting for elevators. I also like the way the ship's public areas are broken into smaller areas, giving a feeling of intimacy on a large ship. Cabins were nice - even the inside ones. I had heard that Costa allowed smoking in too many areas, due to the large european population on board. I found the exact opposite. There were only a couple areas on the entire ship that were set aside for smokers.

That's Amore! by PaulaR4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We've cruised five times before..always on Princess...and we were pleasantly surprised. We really can't complain about anything. Couldn't find one of our pieces of luggage afterwards and received a call the day after wegot home that they found it and delivered it the next day. We're planning another trip with Costa.

Pre-Christmas Total Relaxation Cruise! by KristynaL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our first cruise, and we were not sure what to expect. We traveled with my sister and her husband, both of whom have cruised Costa several times, and they were very enthusiastic about the cruiseline. First of all, we got a great deal on our 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise package, including staterooms with balconies. The whole process of embarking/disembarking was very smooth. When we arrived on the ship, it was decorated beautifully for Christmas! We thought the ship was lovely inside. We thought the food and entertainment were top notch. We especially liked the variety shows where the passangers and the ship's crew participated. We liked the lectures about the ship and the lecture given by the cruise director called "From the Da Vinci Code to Crop Circles." One thing that we also really enjoyed was the interaction between diners and waitstaff at dinner most nights...there was always a celebration of some sort with singing and dancing. It made us forget about our inhibitions! Our cabin was kept very clean, and our steward was wonderful. We used the fitness facility on a daily basis, and were pleased with the equipment there. We think that Costa really respects its employees as individuals with different talents, and did a great job of showcasing this in the staff variety show. We never saw an unhappy employee, and there was a sense of camaraderie among the cruise staff and crew. We joined the Costa Club, and definitely plan to cruise again very soon!

An excellent "Italian" experience by PaulaR4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

there is just such a friendly feeling from the time you board the ship until the day they line up and wave goodbye.Any problems are dealt with immediately. My husbands luggage disappeared on disembarking and the costa agents were extremely helpful trying to locate it. They go well out of their way to make the voyage a real pleasant experience. If you like a more personal approach to cruising this is definitely the ship for you.

A Couples Cruise by PeterB7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This ship is geared towards couples and a more mature crowd. The food & service are excellent. The Atlantica restaurant is great as is the regular dining room. The Casino is well laid out but does lack a craps table. The rooms are spacious and the balcony is comfortable. There is a cigar lounge but open only after the last diner has left the club atlantica restaurant, which is usally after 11:00pm. The cover for the pool does not work and is always open even during heavy rains. Towels are always available on deck. No need to carry them everywhere. There were plenty of lifts thru-out the ship, never a wait. The staff is very helpful and courteous. Costa also is very handicap friendly. There were 7 working therapy dogs on board assisting guests. Overall a great ship to get-away and relax on.

This was a first cruise... by LindziBBaird

Sail date: /
Ship: Costa Atlantica

This was a first cruise for my hubby and I and I am so glad that it didn't ruin cruising for us! We went on a "free" Wounded Warrior cruise, whuch was awesome! We didn't know what to expect. The ship itself was beautiful but stuffy. Fir the most part, we felt like we were on a fliating nursing home. We were in our late 20's and were easily the youngest on the ship. It is most assuredly geared more towards an older and refined crowd. We witnessed way too many geriatrics in speedos and sunning on the deck topless. It was a unique experience to say the least!

Pleasantly Surprised by RichardR1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

After visiting different message boards online, I was a little worried about this cruise line. However the service on board and the ship itself were just amazing. It was an incredible value. Food was hit or miss, geared more to a European taste. I would not hesitate to take another cruise with Costa if the price is right.
