Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
overall experience was OK but our assistant waiter was a rookie and lacked proper training

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
trivia, shows, pools, seminars

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Lots of great talent at the shows

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Cabin attendants were top notch but the assistant waiter lacked proper training

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
ship design was okay but the ship was not well maintained and could use a facelift on the exterior and there was an apparent sewage issue on the lower decks

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
This cabin was affected by the sewage issue and the odors were terrible. We had to switch room as a result. No one should book cabin 2014. We booked only 30 days prior and at the time this was the best option, however, we had no idea there was a problem with this room ahead of time.

Ship tip

Do not book Cabin 2014

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

4 out of 5
In an industrial area but otherwise it was a smooth operation

King's Wharf, Bermuda

5 out of 5
There were plenty of things to do in the immediate area. I was most impressed since our last cruise at this port several years ago lacked things to do.

Charleston, South Carolina

4 out of 5
Lots of construction and the sidewalks were unsafe with unfilled holes and uneven pavement in and around the several block radius

Newport, Rhode Island

5 out of 5
This was the best port overall. The town was clean and well kept. Our tour guide of the city was outstanding.

Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts Did not visit port

The Summit Captian decided not to visit this port 48 hours prior due to choppy waters for tendering. What a huge disappointment! This was the primary reason picking this cruise but will not stop us from booking again at a later date.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Disembarkation was smooth until we boarded a charter to the airport. The bus driver left one of our luggage off the bus. Thankfully my husband noticed the luggage sitting there and informed the driver. But that was not the end of this experience. The driver was not familiar with the Newark airport terminal and a 15 minute ride to the airport ended up taking 90 minutes. The driver couldn't find the new Terminal A and ended up leaving the airport and going to NYC and making a u turn back to the Newark airport two times! The the second time, he got off at the wrong exit for the airport and proceeded to back up some 200 feet off the exit ramp back onto the highway!! Everyone on the bus were in fear for their safety. My suggestion, take an Uber to the airport.
