Alaskan Cruise For Our 25th Wedding Anniversary by anjo31536727

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

It was a pretty nice way to spend our 25th Anniversary, although the weather was not prime (I heard we just missed the beautiful weather the week prior!), and we missed out on a day of cruising the inside passage/views due to a medical emergency (had to go to a different port), mostly the views and ports were great & the service onboard, excellent.

A bit disappointed by fredydellis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Unfortunately the weather was not good and impacted some excursions that were cancelled. But May is not the best month to go to Alaska. One major issue is the 48 hours sea trip on the way back. A cruise should never have a 48 hours sea trip (except crossings) as you are confined in the vessel for a long period of time only to drink, eat and play roulette.... not very exciting!!!!

Will never do it again. by margaretstrasbu

Only go if you want to relax and do nothing else. Would rather starve than eat at the buffet. Mixed drinks are weak.

My first cruise and it was wonderful. Onboard the Solstice to Alaska. Dining, ship activities and shopping were great. We had a balcony and it was great to be able to sit and watch as the captain maneuvered through the Tracy Arm Fjord. by shenerose

We had a great time, the cabin attendant was very nice and kept us informed of things we needed to know. Everyday you get a newsletter called Today, had great info in it about shows, activities, dining and shopping, very helpful.

Good cruise terrible port by Shelby729

Seattle port was terrible! No one seems to know what is going on. Confusion for drivers. Also, someone walked out of secured area with our luggage!!

Wonderful Alaskan Cruise, only minor exceptions that should be noted and/or corrected for future patrons. by luckylucinda66

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

As stated above, our waiters Alexander and Josselle on deck 4 were excellent, and our Room Steward. Personnel on all decks lack major communication!!! When we were exiting the ship at Skagway we were on deck 2 looking for the gangway, then told to go to deck 4, then told deck 5, then we went down to 3. No one had a clue!!! Also, when asking about the waiters dance show not one person on deck 14 knew that it was going to happen. Just total lack of communication "dear in the head lights..." When exiting the ship not ONE PERSON said thank you or bon voyage, come back soon, etc.... Seemed strange and Liam was standing at the exit door as well. We did enjoy the cruise for the dining experience at deck 14 and the lack of sales pressure as done on other cruise lines. It was relaxing, just need more inside entertainment, and to advise customers that the ship closes down early on Thursdays to prepare for the next batch of customers coming on the following day. This is unfair to current patrons. We asked to remove the $30.00 tip charges for Thursday and the lady at guest relations would not remove it. That was rediculous. Again the casino was closed, the theatre was closed. Boring full day at sea. This was one of the Classiest Ship Captains I've ever seen! Very personable and funny. If not for him I would probably rate the ship lower he is fantastic. Bring back chefs and waiters dance, bring back towels made into animals. FYI - inside the stateroom you could not hear announcements happening in the ship. We had to open our door to hear any announcements.... Place a volume control in the rooms.

Nice trip by jrleen

Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Overall we had a good time cruising to different places and a different cruise line for us. Food was average but daily events were lacking with many just being up sales. Getting on board was fairly smooth compared to others but the dump getting off was bad. Several hundreds of us standing in part cover while raining waiting for cabs...took us over an hour to grab a cab to car rental. They have rentals nearby but 2 days are $250 while airport it $115. Once on we were told flat rate $40 to airport and it was really $51. Hard to deal with company when you are already charged and facing authorities being called in.

Loved this Cruise! by thecatservant

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Hawaii

This cruise was a fun way to get back to the mainland from Hawaii. The ship was beautiful and the entire crew was wonderful. The 12 days went way too fast! I highly recommend Celebrity as a cruiseline and hope to sail with them again!

A must do Tran Pacific cruise by polot123

Sea day passed very quickly do as much or as little as you want. Make sure you try some of The specialty restaurants. They are excellent and break up the dining room routine.

Cruise itself was great by mlinville1262

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

The process for signing up for the cruise with Marriott was less that satisfactory. Misinformation was given and sometimes calls were not returned. Will probably not use Marriott again for vacation planning. Also the transfer to the airport was a disaster, see above. Otherwise the cruise itself was very enjoyable. I would especially commend our Cabin Steward and Kay in the Ensemble Bar and Sebastiano in the Blu Dining Room. There were many other attentive and helpful crew members on board. Did not like being constantly harrassed and hawked to by crew members trying to sale additional cost items such as the specialty restaurants and photo opps..

Our first cruise by sherylglasgow

For the price, it was a good deal. I would prefer a newer ship. Better buffet food, and more things to do on sea days. Vary things

Wonderful Celebrity Cruise by stringbeanca

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

overall a good cruise. Celebrity needs to work on people getting off ship for stops. One stop had to wait over an hour to get off ship to visit port. excursion people got off right away. with time to get into city (40 minutes each way) it did not allow us time for the things we wanted to do.

Norovirus Made Us Realize That This Good Life Can Not Be Taken For Granted by SATvisitor

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

This was our first Celebrity cruise and was supposed to be our family vacation of a lifetime, celebrating many stepping stones in our lives...retirement for my husband, 31st anniversary, daughter's master's degree celebration, birthdays...all in one trip. We always make the most of what life throws us, so we still loved the cruise and its itinerary. Nothing can beat the beautiful nature and scenery and wonders we saw on this side of the world. The Solstice would have been a happier memory if it were not sick.

New Zealand is a beautiful country to visit. I would recommend visiting later in their summer season. Our trip in the fall had cooler weather than I expected.

Awesome cruise to Hawaii by Cruiser97487332

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

It was 5 days of smooth sailing the Pacific to then cruise around the beautiful Hawaiian Islands for another 7 days. What more can one ask for? We are thankful for the gorgeous weather, great ports of call and great service aboard the Solstice.

Wonderful as always! by kgaines5917

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Hawaii

This was a very much needed break for me and being on Solstice again was very nice. If you wanted to party, hang out, etc., there was always something to do, but if you just wanted to do nothing, that too was an option. Everyone caters to you and makes you feel like family.
