Review summary

This was a very much needed break for me and being on Solstice again was very nice. If you wanted to party, hang out, etc., there was always something to do, but if you just wanted to do nothing, that too was an option. Everyone caters to you and makes you feel like family.

Embarkation

Great.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Very fresh good quality food prepared extremely well; great seasoning; service. The pizza is not good at all and the pasta bar was just mediocre.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The quiet disco was too much fun! The dancing instruction classes (modern line dancing, etc.) were great.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Very well choreographed shows. Lots of variety and extremely creative. DJ could do a little bit more mixing (Motown, Reggae, soul, r&b.

Children's Programs

No kids but the program had to be great because I didn't see any kids until the last night of the cruise.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Maarten was phenomenal! One of the best cruise directors of all the cruises I've been on and the energy he brings is fantastic. Christina is also amazing; her smile; dance moves and energy are contagious. I had open seating but I remember Matthew as one of my best waiters and there was another young lady in the cafe who always made sure I had whatever I needed. So many folks, I should have done better about writing down names. The staff at the Martini bar were always upbeat and fun.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Always saw someone cleaning, moping, swiping, dusting but never in the way. Love the video at the beginning to "wash your hands" and the continuous play of it on the monitors. Bathrooms were always clean and very well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
The concept of this room was great, I however, had to be transferred to another room as the creaking, ticking, vibrating and clicking noises were nonstop. At night with the ship in full gear, the bed would literally be moving and the floor vibrates. Maintenance was constantly tightening up screws in the wall, which would lead to ticking sounds elsewhere in the cabin. Finally, a move to another room was suggested.

Ship tip

Be prepared to be thoroughly entertained and fed extremely well. If you are a late party person, Solstice may not be for you. Most nights the party spots are empty by 1-2 a.m.
