Was a good trip overall, next time we may just skip the cruise part and just fly to Hawaii and sightsee on our own. We were able to arrange our own snorkeling trips and shuttles to everywhere we wanted to go
Embarkation
4 out of 5
I felt that we were herded from place to place and the distance between was a lot, it seemed that we walked a lot to get from one place to another. Everything that needed to be done could have been closer to each other.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
It was exactly the same layout as the Equinox. We dined in the Blu Restaurant. It was fine and the service was fine just thought the menu choices could have been better. The buffet was constantly busy and extremely hard to find a table. Could have had better choices for late night snacking other than pizza and lunchmeat.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We only went to the Art seminars and auctions. They were FANTASTIC !!! The whole crew for Park West made the 5 days at sea AWESOME! All the other activities would overlap some and it was hard to choose what to do because of conflicting activities. It was too chilly the first few days to use the outdoor pool coming from Canada.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The Crew's troop were very talented. The guest entertainment were sub-standard. We did not go to many of the shows because the entertainment just was not all that entertaining except for the ships own troup.
Children's Programs
We were not traveling with any children
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The staff was very polite. Took a while to have our room cleaned. A couple of times we had to wait outside for them to finish with our room before we could enter. I had noticed rotten fruit that was not taken out of our stateroom when they should have noticed it was rotten.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
there would at times be loud banging because of outer repair being done, Every time we got off the ship they were painting and the oily smell of paint was so very strong. Many time there would be random food plates and glasses just sitting one empty tables in common areas
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The balcony was long and narrow, I would have rather had a bigger stateroom instead of a longer balcony.
We did an excursion went thru a lava tube that was really intresting, saw beautiful waterfalls but went later in the day. We were told that the rainbow only comes out in the morning. The plants and flowers were just beautiful.
We went to a Luau and they took us to a hotel with about 300 other people, It was not at all what we were expecting. They took the pig from what looked like a huge metal oven in the ground and performed a Hawaiian show. We live in Florida and we saw the same show at the Polynesian Resort at Disney and paid half the price for it. The food was good but not authentic. Was really disappointed in that experience.
We got off the ship here and stayed 3 extra days on the Diamond Head side. Our Hotel the Lotus was Excellent! We went snorkeling and hiking and swam in the beautiful ocean. This is where we were able to see the true Hawaii that we wanted to see.
