Review summary

As stated above, our waiters Alexander and Josselle on deck 4 were excellent, and our Room Steward. Personnel on all decks lack major communication!!! When we were exiting the ship at Skagway we were on deck 2 looking for the gangway, then told to go to deck 4, then told deck 5, then we went down to 3. No one had a clue!!! Also, when asking about the waiters dance show not one person on deck 14 knew that it was going to happen. Just total lack of communication "dear in the head lights..." When exiting the ship not ONE PERSON said thank you or bon voyage, come back soon, etc.... Seemed strange and Liam was standing at the exit door as well. We did enjoy the cruise for the dining experience at deck 14 and the lack of sales pressure as done on other cruise lines. It was relaxing, just need more inside entertainment, and to advise customers that the ship closes down early on Thursdays to prepare for the next batch of customers coming on the following day. This is unfair to current patrons. We asked to remove the $30.00 tip charges for Thursday and the lady at guest relations would not remove it. That was rediculous. Again the casino was closed, the theatre was closed. Boring full day at sea. This was one of the Classiest Ship Captains I've ever seen! Very personable and funny. If not for him I would probably rate the ship lower he is fantastic. Bring back chefs and waiters dance, bring back towels made into animals. FYI - inside the stateroom you could not hear announcements happening in the ship. We had to open our door to hear any announcements.... Place a volume control in the rooms.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
One of the best Embarkation experiences I have had measuring against a total of 4 previous cruises.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food on deck 4 and 5 were delicious. Food on deck 14 were not so tastey. I found myself eating the pizza or a fresh omelet in the mornings. The food was overcooked, bacon were like papersheets, the lunch time sandwich area had low end meat cuts.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Not that many onboard activities, the saving grace was there was a lot of stops. Too cold to be outside. We did go to all of the shows and gambled in the casino when it was open.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service overall was empeccable except with guest relations. That area I would rate on the low end of the scale. Our room steward was awesome!!! Alexansder and Joselle were excellent on deck 4. Please take care of them by giving these three individuals a 10. Casino staff were horrible all except for the tall slender black gentleman he was pleasant everytime we saw him. There was also a shorter black gentlemen that was very pleasant, but the workers at the window were terribly unfriendly!!!

Ship Quality

Ship tip

That they are paying for a 7 night cruise, but only enjoying a fast 5 day experience. 1st day was from 2pm - on, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues, Weds were full days - Thursday being stuck on a ship that closed down and had no available activities, most staff off like our room steward for part of the day and other personnel on the ship. The Casino was shut down and no shows. One movie was available, but you wanted our luggage early because of a late arrival in Canada. I would advise them to know that they were going to have to pay for a days worth of tips that no one really deserved.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
This is one port we could have skipped so that we could have enjoyed Canada and had one last evening on the ship before arriving at our final destination.

Juneau, Alaska Did not visit port

We did the glacer excursion and was too tired to get off the ship at the Port.

Skagway, Alaska

Victoria, British Columbia

We actually enjoyed this port the most, but arrived at 6 PM, leaving no time to really enjoy the port. Don't forget there was nothing available to do on the ship this day as well, it was a truly wasted day.. No we did not do an excursion.

I for one do not want to hear announcements in my stateroom. That why the TV has a channel for announcements.
