Review summary

Having cruised before, myself, I was disappointed that this was my husband’s first cruise experience. The level of service, entertainment, quality and variety of food is not up to par with other ships/cruise lines. This is not a ship we would take again.

We were really disappointed in the quality, variety and temperature of the food.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
Most of the staff we encountered were rude, except our waiter in the main dining hall. We rarely saw any employees with smiles on their faces. We only saw our steward twice in the hall on a seven day cruise. On other ships service seems to be above and beyond. It wasn’t on the Solstice. The worst part was the CONSTANT up selling by staff.

The cabin 7114 is a good size with a lot of extra storage.

We did a whale watch excursion. I wish we had waited to do that in Skagway.

The White Pass Railway train ride was great. A must do.

I wish we had more time at this port. Our excursion took up the whole time and we couldn’t explore the beautiful city.

We went to Alaska in 2015 on the Solstice. I’ve really not heard many complaints at all on any Celebrity ships. They’ve always been one of the best, excelling in everything. At least you enjoyed the ports as they have the best itinerary for Alaska. We did the Butchart Gardens excursion through the ship and it was fabulous. On the bus to the Gardens we had about a 45 minute narrated tour of Victoria. What a clean beautiful city it is. More touring on the way back but not as long.

Since Alaska is primarily about the scenery and excursions, many cruise lines don’t put their latest / greatest ships on that itinerary.
