Review summary

If you've ever thought about going to Alaska - do it! Seriously - stop thinking and book your cruise now! It was so beautiful, the staff was so friendly and professional, and it was just a wonderful overall experience. We are in the process of booking our 2nd cruise now!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Everything was so smooth and the staff were so friendly - even after having to tell 2000 passengers the same thing over and over again :) They really aided in the excitement of our impending vacation!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Specialty restaurants were very good. We went to Silk Harvest twice (husband didn't want to go the first time then ended up electing to go there again the last night because it was so good!) and Tuscan Grille once for lunch - very good food! The main dining room was probably a lot better for those that aren't as picky as I am - I am just a boring chicken eater so I didn't waver from the one or two chicken dishes on the menu but they were good every time. My husband is a beef and chicken eater so he had a few more selections but neither of us eat seafood. Our dinner partners (who ate a lot of seafood) said they never had a bad meal and we didn't either!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The onboard activities were okay.... we were never bored, that's for sure, but I would have loved to see more Brent Nixon talks or more comedians/shows/movies/etc. Due to our destination, there wasn't a whole lot of opportunity for pool-use so I was hoping for more shows/nature talks. The activities they did have were good though - just geared towards the older crowd (which we knew going into it and it wasn't an issue at all).

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The stage shows were awesome! The ROCK "concert" and the "Strings" something-or-other show was fantastic. There was only one night (I believe it was the Cabaret Night) that we decided to sneak out early but the rest were great! We loved the comedian and the acrobatics! Brent Nixon's talks were absolutely amazing and if he would have had 10 shows a day - we would have went to every single one of them! We ended up buying his dvd's at the end of the cruise.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
My husband and I didn't bring our 10 year old son with us however, this was our first cruise and we plan on bringing him on the next one for sure so we went and checked out the kids clubs. Honestly, there wasn't much for kids to do on this ship - definitely more of an older couple's cruise (which we knew going into it). I absolutely love Celebrity and don't want to take any other ship but will probably look at other lines when it comes time to schedule a cruise with our son so there's more to do for him.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our state room attendant was absolutely amazing - service twice a day (or more!) and the entire staff was fantastic. The only thing - we booked a concierge room but we never even saw our concierge - I couldn't pick him out of a line up if I tried. I'm sure we got certain perks due to having a "concierge room" but don't plan on using the concierge. We didn't need him as our state room attendant took care of everything for us anyway. :)

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The first thing I noticed was how clean this ship is. I read all these reviews and get excited then start getting grossed out thinking about how many people have slept on this bed or showered in this shower but as soon as I saw how clean it was - I knew they took great pride and care of the ship and all my weird little thoughts went away!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was great - far more room than I was originally thinking (this was our first cruise so we have nothing to compare it to).

Ship tip

On the last night, specialty dining was buy one- get one free. Also, go find the observation lounge - we didn't run across it until the last day and were bummed we didn't spend some time in there! Also, right outside the spa is a huge two person white hammock with sheets and pillows on it - great place to take a nap.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
Didn't spend a whole lot of time in Seattle.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
Took a float plane excursion (booked on the dock once we got there). It was amazing - absolutely breathtaking!

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Went whale watching and went to Red Dog Saloon - great day! I feel like I could come back to Juneau 10 times and have different experiences each time.

Skagway, Alaska Did not visit port

Port was cancelled due to mudslide - a bummer because all of our excursions were scheduled for here but that just gives us a reason to come back :). The port re-opened the very next day.

Victoria, British Columbia

4 out of 5
Went on a 2 hour pedi-cab ride around town - it was fun and the city is beautiful. A lot of people complained about the stop being at night however, the cruise ships have to have at least one foreign stop and so they try to make sure we have as much time in Alaska as possible so this stop (at least for us) was fairly short. I didn't mind it being at sunset/night - it made for a beautiful backdrop for pictures and the city is beautifully lit up at night.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Celebrity has got their act together when it comes to processes in place - the timing of everything was great.
