Review summary

Our favorite part of the cruise was the Beyond the Podium series. Brent Nixon and Mary Amanda Fairchild shared their knowledge of nature and history in very interesting and informative ways. It was worth getting up at 5 am to be in the Oceanview Café as we entered the fjord and had narration from Brent Nixon. We did not get off in every port but felt we learned a great deal about each one. Loved the opportunity to relax both on our balcony and in various lounges around the ship!

Ship tip

Unless you are a hardcore shopper, stay away from on board stores. I felt that I couldn't just browse the merchandise without getting a hard sell from the store salespeople. Also felt that onboard prices were higher than ashore! Twelve dollars for 24 Tylenol was a bit excessive.

Lindackelley, the Beyond the podium talks were all unique to Alaska. The Captain taking the ship down the fjord to the glacier and doing a 360 is also unique for Alaska. Some of the items sold were unique to Alaska and Alaskan made but some were also last minute tourist gifts not made in Alaska.
