First Time in Alaska

Sail Date: May 22, 2015

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Balcony

The Solstice and its crew were excellent.  The scenery was great - reminiscent of the fiords of Norway. The cost of shore excursions was high (typical in Alaska). We did enjoy our excursions, especially whale watching out of Juneau.

Cabin / Stateroom
This is a standard veranda cabin, located at the back of the ship. It has a slightly larger balcony with an extended overhead covering. A small piece of equipment hangs down from the overhead at the far right side, very slightly obstructing a small portion of the view. We took many pictures from the balcony and did not find the obstruction a problem.
Ketchikan, Alaska
Easily walked the town on our own, visiting the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center and the Totem Heritage Center.
Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska
Great views of the glacier from the comfort of the ship.
Juneau, Alaska
Enjoyed a whale watching shore excursion - humpbacks leaping from the water.
Skagway, Alaska
Enjoyed views from the round trip train ride up the mountain pass.
Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska
Victoria, British Columbia
Ship arrived in port at about 6:00 PM. Been here before so remained on the ship to enjoy last night's dinner and pack.
