Great Cruise but Entertainment Below Par by fsubo1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our 2nd Silhouette cruise was almost as good as the 1st but the theater performances were lacking in pizzaz and variety.  Captains Liars Club was the highlight.  The service, food, cleanliness, and concern for passenger welfare was of Celebrity caliber. I think 7 nights is not long enough for us; looking forward to 11 nights on the Equinox in January.

Beautiful Ship! by kbowser105

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The food was very good.  The service was excellent.  We didn't use any of the Specialty Restaurants.  The main dining room and buffet areas were quite well done.  I enjoyed the cruise and the people and the stops.

I have only 2 areas to express could use some improvement:

1) Embarkation/Debarkation were horrific.  This process needs work.

2) the bed in our balcony stateroom was super hard and my back is still recuperating now.  They need to either change out the mattresses or add toppers.

Overall, I would highly recommend this ship and the crew.  Enjoy!!

Voyage 3 by loree64373

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Getting on the ship was lovely. We were greeted with champagne.  So one was allowed to there cabins till an announcement was made.  Ship was very clean, and loved the live plants on board. Captain was involved with passengers and very funny! I think my luggage has a sing on it!  (Leave me out in the pouring rain!) this is not the first time my luggage arrived with our clothes wet.  Very quick to respond and had our clothes back first thing in the morning.  Crew were all very friendly. Looked forward to dinning at the Marano.  It was a disappointment.  If they are not making there Lobster, anything else was horrible. Could not eat the lamb I ordered. The Tuscany Grill was outstanding.  Went there twice.  Blue restaurant was great!  But the cruise lacked some entertainment.  Was low key.  And that was fine. Not enough time spent at ports.

A Fabulous Ship and Vacation by Cruiser726

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Celebrity Silhouette was a fabulous ship and we enjoyed all of her amenities.  It was very clean and comfortable.  We especially enjoyed the Solarium pool area and the specialty dining venues.  The itinerary was great and we especially enjoyed Labadee, Haiti.  The only concern we had was the very slow disembarkation process.  Perhaps that could be improved in the future with more customs agents available and closer housing for the luggage.

Multiple time cruisers of this same class of ship. by carolchristman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cleanliness, service and comfort of Celebrity can't be beat in our opinion.  However, we have taken this class of ships multiple times and with each cruise we notice things we enjoyed were no longer offered.  One disappointment was the outstanding brunch that was offered towards the end of the cruise.  This is no longer offered.  Overall, we continue to find that Celebrity still has the best cruise for the money.

Very Fine Cruise Experience by goldensteveb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Silhouette was a beautiful ship.   The crew was attentive and friendly.  The ports of call on this 4 port Western itinerary were very enjoyable.   The food and service in the specialty restaurants (Murano and Tuscan Grill) were first-class.    The "main dining room" and the Oceanview "Buffet" area were average at best.   Having enjoyed the "Sanctuary" areas on Princess cruise ships before ... we decided to try the "Alcoves" area on the Silhouette.   Don't waste your money on the "Alcoves" very poor design ... the furniture faces the Lawn Club Grill ... NOT the ocean ... Come on Celebrity the view from your Alcove relaxation area should be the beautiful blue ocean waters.   Also, the furniture was uncomfortable and certainly not conducive to lounging in the sun.   The service in the Alcoves was nothing special.   The entertainment on board the ship was good, but, not great ... certainly did not measure up to Princess Cruise line standards.   Casino was nice.    On-board shopping was definitely not for the average consumer ... the shops were designed to go after the "big fish" ... lots of very expensive jewelry, handbags, and watches ... one watch I asked about was priced at $42,000.00 !

Transatlantic Silhouette by garnet5t

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Transatlantic

The ship was very nice, clean and well kept. No problems.

We particularly like the "Beyond the podium" segments and the shows were excellent except for one so called comedian. His name escapes me but to my knowledge he was only on one night and many people, including us walked out he was so poor.

We enjoyed the trip and would consider another.

Everything went smoothly.

My annual complaint is the price of drinks. I think it is a bit over the top. I spent $600 on 14 bottles of wine. Is there room for a limited daily drinks package. My wife drinks less than I do, so the present $65 per person per day is out of the question. Many people we spoke to, like us, do not drink from the stateroom refrigerator and a constant complaint was the $5.50 bottle of water.

So there, overall we loved it except for the booze. The dining room and the top deck restaurant were good. Good selection and clean. Captain was funnier than the comedian and had a great personality...for a Greek

food quality is going down again by scotticat2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Transatlantic

I was an original celebrity traveler prior to Royal Carib buy out...after buyout I stopped after the first cruise and changed lines for several years...quality of dining room was very much down. Then things improved and I tried again and came back to celebrity. In 2012 I was on the Silhouette for 14 days to egypt and israel /mediterranean...dining room food was great ...The same cannot be said for this trip.I complained to the Maitre D ...since when is creme de bruelle served cold...this was never thye case before...coffee served after dessert if at all...training in the kitchen is lacking...quality of steak was awful and not much better at the Tuscan grill.(bought package of 4 to try the restaurants....only Murano was up to snuff. Why don't you just charge an additional 200-300pp for food and go back to quality in the dining room. The reason I am only Select is that I kept trying other lines...may have to go back to that. To be positive... Buffet food was much better that previous trip....but had an injury and it was difficult to walk around for my food with a cane in hand.

Beautiful Ship and Great Itenarary by Cruiser560

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Transatlantic

We enjoyed the beautiful Celebrity Silhouette ship for our visit to ports in the Mediterranean and the Transatlantic crossing.  The ship was exceptionally clean, the staff friendly, and the entertainment was the best overall experience we have had.  Our shore excursions were delightful and entertaining with many beautiful and interesting sights to visit.  We arranged for several small group private tours as well as a couple of shore excursions provided by Celebrity.  Our only disappointment was with the main dining room experience which did not meet our expectations because of slow service, menu variety, noise and comfort and arrangement of the chairs and tables.  We found the food quality and variety in the Oceanview Cafe (Buffet) more to our liking and opted out of the Grand Couvee main dining room several nights.  Our balcony cabin on the 6th deck (on the bump out) was roomy, clean, and made for a very comfortable "home" on the ship.  Our cabin steward, Lino, was exceptional in always providing a clean and welcoming cabin environment.Happy

Greek Islands by Cruiser133

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Although not up to our expected journey, the trip was nice.  The crew had to scrounge Ports of Call to make up for the change in plans.  The entertainment was not up to Celebrity's usual standards.  As usual the service was wonderful.  Our cabin crew took care of every need and the dining staff was superb.  The excursions were up to par on the original manifest and seemed to be enjoyed by all.

Cancelled Destination on Day of departure by hernandezedm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The overall experience was good, Celebrity is a great company, they just really disappointed a whole ship full of customers that booked a cruise to the Holy Land but cancelled on the day of departure all the Israel stops. There was no communication other than a robot call and text to a phone. No options to cancel for future cruises, not really an apology by the staff which I am sure was not their decision. The cabin in Aqua Class is the highest before going to suite level and it felt really cramped, smallest balcony ever. The only recommendation was the food at Blu. This my second cruise with Celebrity first was the ship Reflection which seemed nicer, smooth and bigger spaces.

9-day Mediterranean Cruise by judithmorris

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I would suggest the a suite if affordable, and they are larger and you access to the restaurant for suite members where the food is good and the service not as hectic as the main dining room.

Some of the on-shore excursions were good and others average--we enjoyed Mt Vesuvius, but there was a lot of bus travel on some of the excursions and not enough time to see the actual site. Pisa was a good example of a lack of time, but the guide was very good. I would like a cruise with two days in some of the ports. The ship was clean and the cabin staff and waiters were excellent. The shows, while not all great, were quite good.

Beautiful Ship and Good Experience by cmgomez79

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship was beautiful and clean.  My recommendation is to have a designated location for all night dancing/bar and an LGBT night located in a location that easy for people to chat and meet.  It was located in a location that was mixed with everyone and harder to figure out who to connect with.  Also, there were some stops that could have been skipped for overnight stays in places like Florence.

Wonderful European cruise by JjScG0zATPh590787ax9Xr7WJ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We have taken over 25 cruises and this was the best one yet.  The ports were great and the excursions we took let us see as much of the country that we could. The ship was great and the food was good.  No complaints at all. 11 day cruise for these many ports was just right with 3 days at sea.  Spending 2 days in Amsterdam and 2 days in Rome completed the trip.  I would recommend this cruise to everyone.

Highly recommend by kmwebber

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The Silhouette is a beautiful ship and the crew was extremely helpful and friendly. I would cruise on this ship or any Celebrity ships again. However, I would only purchase a ticket which included the drink package because it is extremely expensive and 18% is added for gratuity. The shore excursions are also on the pricey side and we didn't find that they were good value. Our trip into Lisbon was $60 and the tour guide gave no information as we drove around on the bus. When asked questions, he didn't know the answer. Such as, what is the population? He said 1,000. He was replaced half way through. There were two formal nights which are not for us

British Isles Cruise on Celebrity Silhouette August 8 by twint00

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We were expecting more from Celebrity then what we got.  Thought it would be more "upscale" but  our experience was no better or worse than any other cruise we've taken.  Overall very average.  The ship itself was amazing but staff, food, casino, etc.  was very average.  Shore excursions were ridiculously expensive so we didn't participate in them.  It was also very chaotic when we had to use tenders to go ashore.

Great ship, wonderful crew by scherzva

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

This was my first Celebrity Cruise (though I am Diamond with Royal Caribbean) and have to admit that I am a convert. The ship is the perfect size, not too big, not too small. There is lots to do and it is a great ship for doing nothing at all.
