Review summary

We enjoyed the beautiful Celebrity Silhouette ship for our visit to ports in the Mediterranean and the Transatlantic crossing.  The ship was exceptionally clean, the staff friendly, and the entertainment was the best overall experience we have had.  Our shore excursions were delightful and entertaining with many beautiful and interesting sights to visit.  We arranged for several small group private tours as well as a couple of shore excursions provided by Celebrity.  Our only disappointment was with the main dining room experience which did not meet our expectations because of slow service, menu variety, noise and comfort and arrangement of the chairs and tables.  We found the food quality and variety in the Oceanview Cafe (Buffet) more to our liking and opted out of the Grand Couvee main dining room several nights.  Our balcony cabin on the 6th deck (on the bump out) was roomy, clean, and made for a very comfortable "home" on the ship.  Our cabin steward, Lino, was exceptional in always providing a clean and welcoming cabin environment.

Food and Dining

Poor quality food in the main dining room, menu, and slow service. Buffet was better. Celebrity was always pushing their optional dining venues (for extra $$$), but comments we heard from others was that it wasn't all that good and far too expensive.

Ask for ice if you want it everyday. Put used towels on the floor of the shower when you want clean ones.

Ship tip

Get your morning pastries on deck 5 Cafe al Bacio and then free coffee on deck 7 in the Hideaway. Very handy if you are on deck 6 close to the elevators.

Stay in Trastevere on the West side of the Tiber river for a true Rome experience. It is easy to walk everywhere with lots of little cafes at every turn. We made Hotel San Francesco our home base.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

We joined a small group tour which we found on Cruise Critic Roll Call for our ship. Sunflower Tours with Giovanni. Excellent guide.

We joined a small group tour. Beautiful area, but guide was only fair. Slow getting out of the harbor area and took an hour or so to arrive in Aix-en-Provence.

Barcelona, Spain

Beautiful city! I led a small group tour that was coordinated by Barcelona Day Tours. Aida, our tour guide was outstanding and provided and fun and informative tour of Barcelona and Montserrat, a monastery in the high mountains outside the city.
