Review summary
The Silhouette was a beautiful ship. The crew was attentive and friendly. The ports of call on this 4 port Western itinerary were very enjoyable. The food and service in the specialty restaurants (Murano and Tuscan Grill) were first-class. The "main dining room" and the Oceanview "Buffet" area were average at best. Having enjoyed the "Sanctuary" areas on Princess cruise ships before ... we decided to try the "Alcoves" area on the Silhouette. Don't waste your money on the "Alcoves" very poor design ... the furniture faces the Lawn Club Grill ... NOT the ocean ... Come on Celebrity the view from your Alcove relaxation area should be the beautiful blue ocean waters. Also, the furniture was uncomfortable and certainly not conducive to lounging in the sun. The service in the Alcoves was nothing special. The entertainment on board the ship was good, but, not great ... certainly did not measure up to Princess Cruise line standards. Casino was nice. On-board shopping was definitely not for the average consumer ... the shops were designed to go after the "big fish" ... lots of very expensive jewelry, handbags, and watches ... one watch I asked about was priced at $42,000.00 !
