May 2018 Alaskan Cruise onboard the Celebrity Millennium by carolynkolesar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This is a fantastic ship. It's just the right size and I much prefer this compared to the mega ships. The Aqua class is a great concept which I hope to enjoy in the future again.

ALASKA - Don't wait!!! by Jater

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Don't put this one off! It's NOT just for old folks (though, my wife and I are "seniors"!) We elected to book as many of the "strenuous" excursions that we could squeeze into our trip and from the biking to the hiking to the snorkeling to mountain trek to sea kayaking for a whale watch... we were so glad we didn't follow our original instinct to wait until we were REALLY too old (y wife is 62 and I'll soon be 68...) to partake of these fantastic adventures. The locals and excursion guides were incredible in every port... friendly, helpful, courteous and more than willing to talk with us about any subject! We did the 8-night, 'first cruise of the season' (departed May 10) and it was perfect in every way. Although we didn't know it at the time we booked the cruise, we understand that the 8-night cruise stops at a port rarely visited... not sure if that Icy Point Strait, Sitka or Skagway... but it might be something for you to consider. All of our previous cruises have been to the Caribbean (Eastern, Western, Southern and the Panama Canal) and they were great, too, but I Just can't say enough about this cruise!

The best part was cruising through the glaciers. The staff was excellent. Treatment was royal-like. We were spoiled.

A very good trip. Booked it only 2 days from embarkation so took our chances with the last cabin 9n the ship. Lots of character and fun.

The cruise was very good. by plymouth1943

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

The embarkation was handle very well. There were Visa issues with some of the passengers entering China because of clear instruction on how to obtain a Visa from China. The disembarkation was slow because of the need to accommodate all the passengers the ship tours, the airlines and the passengers with private tours.

Great crew, disappointed in food service by Bill847

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Asia & Indian Ocean

Meeting new people and doing our own self guided travel was the best part of our cruise. The biggest disappointment was the food service, the food was dumbed down to feed the unknowing tourists, we have tasted better Asian meals at fast food chains.

Celebrity Millenium 14 night Asia... by drsel

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Millennium

Celebrity Millenium 14 night Asia Immersion cruise Embarkation took 30 mins. Then we were welcomed onboard with champagne & mimosa on a red carpet. (We expected this, having been on its identical sister ship Celebrity Constellation.) Our oceanview room was comfy & spacious, but the bath cubicle was small. We had the Classic unlimited alcoholic drinks package,  so I decided to try out their  amazing array of cocktails. The Lido poolside bar was empty & the bartender gave me his signature drink in a jiffy, with a smile. In fact throughout the cruise, the bartender service was impeccable. They were really keen to serve us, cos as one bartender said, everytime we slash our sea pass, they earn 18% gratuity (paid by Celebrity & NOT charged to us--very nice). All cocktails were good, though the alcohol content was 45ml. If you wanted to add more Vodka or Triple Sec, they would gladly oblige (and slash your card once again). It was symbiotic--the more (free) drinks you order, the happier the bartender! Drinks service was very quick, esp at the Casino bar, Sunset bar & Poolside. Only the Martini bar had very slow service, since it was always crowded (not the bartenders fault) Unlike Constellation, on the first day, they was NO liquer sampling. But it didnt matter, cos we had the Classic alcoholic package. The special discount offers on alcohol purchase (in the duty free shops on deck 5), were much better than those at duty free airports in Singapore & H.K.. They also had a ladies hat, shawl & handbag sale (really cheap, only $40 for 5, mix & match) Every morning, on the way to the buffet breakfast, there were pretty girls waiting to give you a FREE sampler head massage. Yes, every morning!  The cruise director Paul was outstanding & so was his deputy, Valentina. Paul conducted the game shows exceptionally well & was always witty & cheerful. He introduced all the entertainers every night. At every port, he would wait at the exit to greet the passengers & help, if required. Valentina wore stilts & a Chinese costume to entertain the crowd at the grand poolside Chinese New Year dance party. She also conducted the social media classes ( Facebook, WhatsApp, etc), some gameshows & trivia. In 14 days, we had only 3 grand shows, (this is the ONLY reason I deducted 1 star, as we expected more shows on a 14 day cruise) The other 11 days had a movie night (Billy Jean King's life story), a Phil Collins tribute singer, a Stevie Wonder tribute singer, a lovely Jamaican singer (Monique),  a Vietnamese lady pianist (Van Anh Nyugen),  a lady violinist (Inna Tolstova), a singing trio from US, the Mersey  boys quartet from UK, a comedy juggler, an acrobatic couple, a comedian (Funny Bones). So, every night was taken care of.  The 3 shows--iBroadway, Boogie Wonderland & Elyssium; were 45-50 mins each & truly amazing, easily of Broadway standard. 4 of the 12 performers posed for pics after each show. But they didn't mingle or dance with the passengers (like they did in Constellation). They also performed a small act on the pool deck & in the Cosmos lounge, in addition to the 3 main shows. For Chinese New Year, Celebrity even had a special Chinese dragon dance. The Cruise director Paul dressed magnificently like a Chinese Emperor & posed with all passengers. The passenger vs crew (in full uniform) pool volleyball game was a blast!  Unfortunately, very few showed up or seemed interested in the enrichment health & fitness lectures. The fitness trainer who spoke on health & detoxification, was repititive. She spoke the same thing at every lecture. The buffet lunch had a lot of variety & was very satisfying. There were 6 diff. flavours of icecream & frozen yoghurt, which kept changing daily! Exotic flavors like cherry, pecan, peach, apricot, dark chocolate, banana, strawberry, etc In the main dining room, the service was good, but food was below par. Often we left after starters. The desserts were also ordinary & TOO SWEET. The buffet had better food & a lot more variety both for lunch & dinner.  The cruise itinerary was well planned, with 5 sea days & 9 port days--2 Hong Kong, 2 Halong bay, 1 HoiAnn /Hue /Danang, 1 Ho Chi Minh, 2 Pattaya & 1 Singapore; so enough time for sightseeing at all ports. Overall I do recommend this cruise. We got a good deal, Love & God bless, drsel

Not what I expected by wendyduff

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Asia & Indian Ocean

I have to be honest and say I did not enjoy Vietnam at all. I would never go back and was disapointed how 3rd world it really is. Im glad Ive seen what I have seen - but willl never return. Taiwan was great - the 1 oport I saw due to me being sick. The ovver all cruise was great - we met lovely people at out MDR Dining Table and will keep in contact. Maybe our expetations were too high after our last cruise to Alaska. It wont stop us cruising but I wouldnt return to those countries.

Very good cruise friendly staff and very good service. by plymouth1943

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

The cruise was very good. We were unable to visit one port because of bad weather and arrived at Halong Bay just a couple of hours earlier. It would have been better if he had more time an had arrived about four or five hours earlier. All the ports were very interesting and we learned a lot about Vietnam that we were not aware of.

Wonderful. Staff are fantastic and... by me104

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Millennium

Wonderful. Staff are fantastic and happiest helpful I have ever met. Captain seems lovely man?maybe this is why staff seem happier. Only issues are the ports are extremely far away from main areas so be prepared for numb areas with coach journeys. Don't bother with the excursion from Singapore sights then transfer to airport. Guide extremely rude and varied the tour to suit. This has shown us that even this being an old ship it is well maintained and can do what newer ships are able to do. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Great Way to See Japan! by mbe2015

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

We selected this cruise based on the itinerary. We thoroughly enjoyed the Japan cities. With Shanghai as the end port, we extended our Asia trip by independently visiting Shanghai, Xi'an and Beijing for another 12 days.

Family Cruise by lentynam

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Asia & Indian Ocean

Loved the Japanese ports and staff. The speakers were unorganized and provided conflicting information. The visual presentations were below the level of high school PowerPoint presentation. The food was terrible. Activities were below average. Ship was average. We chose this trip particularly for the itinerary. Virtually everything beyond the itinerary and the staff was disappointing.

Visiting alaska has been on my radar for a long time and this trip came along at the right time. Being able to share with my sisters, as we don't get a lot of in person time, priceless!
