Excellent first cruise by leeconnor569

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Food was fantastic, especially Oceanview Cafe! Stateroom service was great too, and everything was very well organized and explained. Good range of events and activities on offer.

possible improvements:

- make it clearer when booking what comes with the package (which meals, drinks do you get as standard)

- as we boarded, we felt pounced upon to buy a beverage package from all angles, not a great first impression and confusing (we ended up cancelling this when we realized we could have tea, coffee, juices as standard)

- make it clear the onboard gratuities aren't compulsory either and that you can settle this by cash tipping, again, we had to rearrange this which took 5 trips to guest services

7 Nights of Alaska by TravelingTrish

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Overall this was a very good trip.  I found the ship to be clean, the staff friendly and attentive.  The food in the main dining room was just average - not the fabulous fare you expect on a cruise ship.  Buffet fare was better than you would expect.  We were unable to participate in the one excursion we booked though Celebrity due to an injury an thought we'd have to file a claim through our travel insurance.  When I asked Guest Relations for a copy of the injury report - which was not available because it is for 'internal use' only - I was sent me to the Excursions Desk and they provided me with a full refund!Happy

As far as the injury - watch that step in Cosmos Lounge.  I missed the step and fell twisting my left ankle and right knee.  When I went to the medical facility I was told that as long as I could walk nothing was broken!  Seriously? I was given ibuprofen, a cloth brace for my ankle and told to rest.  Didn't even look at either my knee or ankle.  Wow!Surprised

Appreciated upgrades. by Cruiser3171906

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Our favorite part of the cruise was cruising the Alaskan waters.  We appreciated the room upgrade as well as the LavAzza coffee in the buffet.  We like the idea of a coffee card for specialty coffee and tea drinks, so missed this amenity on the Millennium.

Great vacation! by Funtocruise434

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This cruise was amazing, the ports were wonderful, the glaciers were breathtaking...I can't say enough about this cruise.  The ship was nice, there weren't too many activities for our children, but they LOVED going to the Fun Factory.  The only downside to the Fun Factory is that it closes from noon to 2:00. I understand they want kids to be with there families, but a time limit would be better. The food was good and plentiful.  Our cabin "helper" was amazing.  He really helped to make our trip successful, it nice when you see the staff go above and beyond.

Celebrity declining overall performance. by sal209

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Not anymore.

The emergency drill was a mess .

People could not only enter the assigned room and people sitting could not see anything as people standing blocked their view.

The food was average and crew members themselves expressed their opinion to us that since Royal Caribean took over things started to decline.Toiletpaper is so thin that one cannot unroll a full roll as it breaks of.With all the money spent on

publicity head office should be concerned with these problems and not ignore

passengers and crew comments.Prices charged for cruise represents no value.

Land and cruise tour by jrmyeager

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Working with Justin Williams and Customer Service, at , was wonderful.  I would book another cruise with this company. The land tour was beautiful.  I didn't like that Celebrity did not provide an itinerary,of arrival and departure times, before I left for the trip.  I almost missed my privately booked Denali flightseeing ride due to no time of  hotel arrival given.  If I had known we were driving right by our pick-up point at hotel, to drop everyone else off at a tourist trap, I would have asked to be left off first.  Hotel at Denali was mediocre, ran out of some food items.  Cruise was enjoyable and we had a very attentive attendant.  Food was okay.  My first cruise and if I cruise again it would be on another ship or line.  I was there for majesty of Alaska and got my money's worth.

Best Cruise Ever by hamathon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

I have been on many cruises but upgrading to the Aqua Suite and being

able to eat in the Blu Restaurant gave this cruise 5 stars.

The food was absolutely fabulous.  Every night the food was just as delicious

as the next.  The waiters and waitresses were outstanding the entire week.

We were addressed by name which was amazing.  The Blu is a small

restaurant so the servers gave up personal attention.

I am lactose intolerant.  I was asked to place my menu for the next day

so the chief knew not to add dairy to my meal.  It was sad to have to

say goodbye to the muffin man who greeted us every morning with a

smile on his face and a plate full of scrumptious muffins.

We never had to wait in line for breakfast or dinner and most of the time we were able to eat by a table by the window.

If you are someone who enjoys a Turkish bath, sauna and hot spas,

the "Garden" is a place for you.

The gym was terrific.  Upgraded equipment, yoga, pilates, and spin

classes were available.  Very clean

I enjoyed the art auctions.  The first auction I won a piece of art work

which was very exciting.  If you enjoy art, you have to attend at

least one auction.

The most disappointing day and as far as I am concerned was the day

at the Icy Strait.  Not much to do and too much time spent.  My daughter

and myself went on the ATV which was very scary for me since the

passenger side did not have a seat belt.  I addressed the problem and

was told to hold on.  It was rather dangerous as far as I am concerned.

I heard the zip line was fun.

I would have liked to have fish at lunchtime on the 10th floor cafe but it

was not very good.  The rest of the food  ate I enjoyed.

There was a problem keeping the coffee hot.  Most times it was luke

warm and passengers complained.

The entertainment was quite good.  I only missed one show since I was tired.

My favorite shows where, Almost Elton John, Savannah Smith who was terrific, and ballroom dancing.

Our stateroom was terrific.  We were given 2 warm bathrobes, slippers,

ice tea during the day, appetizers in the late afternoon and fruit.

When we arrived the bed was made into a double but as soon as we

called for room service to split up the beds it was taken care of.

Whomever I talked to on the ship was just as helpful and full of smiles as

the next.  I could see that everyone on the ship worked exceptionally hard

to give us a wonderful vacation.  I want to say thank you to all!

I enjoyed being able to go up to the Rendezvous Cafe after dinner and before

the show every night for entertainment.

Alaska Norhtern Glacier in June by kdm5801

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Overall this cruise was everything we had hoped.  The Alaska landscape was magnificent and we were very fortunate with the weather.  The cruise ship Millennium was a good size so that it did not seem overly crowded and was easy to get around.  The staff was friendly and the entertainment in the theater was very good and professionally done.  The food in the main dining room was very good and we did not feel a need to upgrade to the specialty restaurants, though some of our friends did and they raved about them - especially Qsine.  We had plenty of time in the ports to take the excursions and still had time to shop and explore on our own.

Wonderful experience by mleest

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Our cruise was wonderful from beginning to end. The staff was friendly and attentive, especially Bianca (who helped us with a problem with our return trip--we had been told to book our flight from Fairbanks, which we did, but we were actually flying home from Anchorage), Tamesha, Osman, Sang Made, Urdilapa (sp), Khris and Elvie.

Our favorite port was Icy Point, but we loved the entire cruise. We did not enjoy the first cruise we were on years ago, but we will be back for another Celebrity cruise.

Superb by hutchison5665

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

I and my wife enjoyed the cruise very much even though it was our first time to take a cruise. Celebrity Millennium employees are very polite and friendly. Our stateroom is very well kept. In addition, we have very good service in the dinning room too. We would say thanks to all Celebrity Millennium employees providing us a unforgotten memory.

Great Alaskan Cruise by msmall

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Overall it was a wonderful cruise on a beautiful ship. We would recommend it to our friends. The food and drinks were good and the menu was varied. We had a slight issue with a moldy, musty smelling bathroom but the room and ship appeared to be clean and in good shape. Great, well-trained crew.

Northward bound inside passage Alaska cruise on Celebrity by mwilk17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

I loved El Bacio and the guitarist that played all over the ship all different types of music, he was great.  I liked the naturalist Milos - he also was everywhere and got to know a lot of the passengers and was very informative and humorous.

I did not like the buffet, the food was cold and congealed and the hours of operation were off when we returned from excursions, all dining options were closed and there was very little available on the buffet.  also our cabin was run down and dated, chipped furniture, blinking light fixtures, bad shape overall

I also did not like how with the free style dining tables for two were right next to each other so you were basically eating with different strangers every night - if I wanted to eat with others I'd have preferred having assigned dining this way you eat with the same passengers every night and make friends, the other way this was very uncomfortable - did not like that at all

Second time around by jonsian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

We were very lucky to enjoy such wonderful weather, I always recommend friends to travel to Alaska as early in June as they can.  The glaciers are magnificent, even twelve years since the last time I saw them!  The ship experience was excellent, we were well taken care of and pampered.  Didn't feel any need to visit specialty restaurants as we were very pleased with the food in the main dining room.  Our only complaint is the cost of the excursions are too high.

Cruise to Remember by dorrieridenour

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The ship was impressive. the Aqua Class suite was clean and very spacious. Loved the balcony. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Food in the Blu and Metropolitan staff and food was excellent, enjoyed very much. The Buffet left a lot to be desired. Several dirty plates and cups were seen on the buffet. Food on the bottom of the plates and lipstick on the cups. The plates were on the buffet to be used and the cups were on the counter for the coffee. The food was a disappointment as far as the buffet went. But then everyone has different taste and this I understand.

Great Food, Beautiful Ship by pairodox

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Overall, the Celebrity Millennium is a top notch cruise ship. It has beautiful decor, and is kept up immaculately.  Our stateroom attendant was so friendly and efficient.  We never needed anything as our room was always cared for with a meticulous hand.  The dining experience is also amazing. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding.  Every evening we were treated to so many exotic as well as classic dishes and the wait staff is extremely attentive and friendly.  The only reason I do not give this cruise 5 stars is due to the inhospitable guest relations staff.  We had an issue with on board credit not showing up until the last day.  Every guest relation staff member I approached responded with a very lax attitude and pointed the finger right back at me.  It wasn't until the very last day of the cruise that they had admitted the mistake was on their side and apologized.  It was too little too late as far as I was concerned.  I didn't like to have to ask every day of the cruise about this credit.  The situation caused undue stress and concern on my part.  I hope they rectify the flaw in their system so that this does not happen again to any other clients.
