Review summary

Overall this cruise was everything we had hoped.  The Alaska landscape was magnificent and we were very fortunate with the weather.  The cruise ship Millennium was a good size so that it did not seem overly crowded and was easy to get around.  The staff was friendly and the entertainment in the theater was very good and professionally done.  The food in the main dining room was very good and we did not feel a need to upgrade to the specialty restaurants, though some of our friends did and they raved about them - especially Qsine.  We had plenty of time in the ports to take the excursions and still had time to shop and explore on our own.

Service and Staff

Alwyn, Aditya, and Nelson - our staff in the main dining room - were outstanding and very friendly. We requested them every night. Bar wait staff on deck was understaffed.

Ship tip

The Martini Bar was a great before of after dinner spot with the staff entertaining us by juggling bottles and just having a good time with the guests.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Ketichikan was a little more touristy than the other ports. The city tour was a little weak but others took a boat tour and highly recommended it.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

Whale watching here was great! We took a small boat (16 guests) and found a pod of 5 Humpbacks to follow. Captain had sonar that allowed us to hear the whales as well. Definitely should do an excursion here as not much else to do in port.

Juneau, Alaska

If you are adventurous take the sky tram to the top of Mt. Roberts and hike to the top (3000+ elevation). It is strenuous, but the sights are beautiful.

Skagway, Alaska

Take the bus trip to the overpass as it stops along the way so that you can take some great pictures and the train does not stop.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
Get out on the Helipad to view - don't stay inside. The sounds of the glacier moving are a big part of the experience.

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

The bus ride to Anchorage was nice and informative. The stop at the Wildlife recovery site was a nice break but the animals were not very cooperative for photo ops.
