Review summary

May is an excellent time to visit. No or few children, mostly adults and beautiful weather.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Fine. I was already on the ship, doing back to back cruising so embarkation not an issue

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining room menu & meal quality very nicely done. Service overall in the dining room for all meals acceptable, often slower than expected. Sushi on 5 an excellent specialty restaurant highly recommend - excellent quality, reasonable priced. Be sure to try on your first cruise day because specialty restaurants generally 50% off prices. Buffet lacked creativity and quality of food items. Had to continually ask for items such as silverware to be restocked as well as more popular food items. Slow to respond to requests. Lacked attention to detail. Be sure to observe serving hours in the buffet as they start rapidly clearing food 10-15 minutes before end of serve times.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There is a wide variety of activities for most interests and ages. They offer a solo/single get together place where specific area in a location is not identified nor do they have any activity personnel to coordinate like on some other lines/ships. Very poorly communicated & not in daily program. Can only be found on Community Board next to Customer Service desk. Friday services not in bulletin but only on Community Board as well.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Excellent quality of stage show performances, musicians and comedians

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Waiters in dining room try to accommodate guests requests. Waiters & servers in buffet lacked attention to detail such as keeping all food items and utensils stocked. Room stewards generally kept room serviced and clean. They slacked off the last two nights of the cruise.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship was refurbished with modern style and very pleasing from stateroom to throughout the entire ship. Very clean lines and nice colors and style. Chairs in the Cosmos lounge very uncomfortable on the back so sitting in the cushioned bench style seats more comfortable.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very nicely redone stateroom. When they refurbished there was lack of cleanup detail on the balcony glass & door. There were paint splatter on them, and several areas left unpainted and/or cleaned up after painting. Bed comfortable, and clean throughout inside of stateroom. Shower nicely done with glass, no longer curtains. Updated larger flat screen tv. Unfortunately, the tv frequently blacked out and had to be reset numerous times. Fresh & no odor except periodically in the shower the drain gave off a slight sewer odor.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

Captain got the ship within 1/2 mile of the glacier. Outstanding sunny day, and views of the glacier.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

4 out of 5
A small ship owned port utilizing local 1st Nation activities. Do not have to take expensive excursions to enjoy this area unless you want to get away from the forest and local small town

Ketchikan, Alaska

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

Slowly cruised and very calm seas. Weather incredible
