Review summary

The Millennium was a beautiful ship that could use some refurbishment due to wear in the cabin bathrooms & carpets, but overall the rooms were clean & the cabin steward very attentive. The dining room Assistant Maitre d' was terrific & our waiter Daniel & his assistant Donaldo made our dining experience a pleasure! The food was terrific all over the ship, including room service. This was our 12th cruise & it was the best yet!

Ports of call

Villefranche-Sur-Mer, France

Villefranche was beautiful! We took the train to Nice & sat on the Riviera all day on rented lounges with umbrellas. Friends of ours parasailed. The water was glorious. We then took a taxi back to the port & our driver gave us a tour. The people were amazingly friendly, something we were told not to expect in France. This port was a delightful surprise!

Venice, Italy

Beautiful city, be aware of cover charges if you visit one of the many outdoor restaurants with music in the evening in the Plaza San Marco.

Santorini, Greece

We rented a car for the day & went to the black sand beaches. Wow, they were beautiful, but wear flip-flops or sand shoes! The beaches are large pebbles, not sand. It was difficult to get in & out of the water without the shoes on. Having the car allowed us to see the entire island. It was a great day!

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

We took the excursion into Tuscany for the Wine Tasting hosted by Tenuta Torciano at their farmhouse.I was moved to tears after passing through the Tuscan countryside. It was incredible! The lunch at Torciano was excellent & the wines delicious! We will definitely return to this region someday.
Don't Miss: Tuscany, San Gimignano, Volterra,

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Great excusion into Rome. Four hours on our own then the "Taste of Italy" tour. Try to take this tour during the early spring or late fall. The temperature was nearly 100 degrees in mid June.

Naples, Italy

We took the excursion that brought us to Capri, Sorrento, & Pompeii. Capri & Pompeii were wonderful. In Sorrento, they herded us on to a small bus & brought us to a shop that made inlaid wood. We had time on our own before lunch, but were no where near a shopping district. This was very self-serving on the part of the tour guide.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

5 out of 5
Visit the wall surrounding this beautiful city for a fabulous view & history of Dubrovnik.

Barcelona, Spain

Not much time to explore this city. Shopping at Las Ramblas was set up like a movie set made for tourists. Probably wise to take an excursion at this port.

Pros: The ship was beautiful & easy to find your way around, service & food were exceptional.

Cons: Having to pay additional fees to tender into certain ports, the Hotel Sofitel was a rip-off when made through Celebrity, excursion into Sorrento was not well planned although Capri & Pompeii were great.
