Celebrity Infinity

15 Night Panama Canal Westbound (Miami To San Diego)

Sail date: October 25, 2019

Ship: Celebrity Infinity

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Review summary

Of the approximate 1800 passengers on board, roughly 60% were English speaking. Of the staff and crew, most did not speak/understand standard English. Had some difficulty understanding the captain or his staff (especially the one giving the presentation on the workings of the ship). However, most of the commercials on the TV selling Celebrity muse/tours were in very clear English.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
A bit chaotic. Better directional/informative signage would have helped.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
As expected.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Sufficient. Something for everyone.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Entertaining/fun.

Children's Programs

This wasn’t Disney. Average age appeared to be 60+

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
English as a first language would have been preferred. Oftentimes, just let things go since it was difficult to get my message across.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Easy to navigate.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Roomy, we’ll taken care of. Clean.

Ship tip

Be ready to shell out cash. Very little comes with no charge.

Ports of call

Cartagena, Colombia

4 out of 5
No excursion. Toured on my own. Nice, colorful city. Too many, “in your face” street vendors.

Colon, Panama

2 out of 5
No excursion. Crime ridden city.

Panama Canal Transit

5 out of 5
Most interesting. Main reason for cruise.

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

1 out of 5
Bought excursion. Not worth the money. Bus, train and crocodile package. More tipping and useless sights.

Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

4 out of 5
Did city tour of Antigua. Comfortable and interesting.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Did not visit port

Too many ships already in port.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

4 out of 5
Probably the best of all ports visited. Did excursion of Arch and a bit of the city.

San Diego, California Did not visit port

End of cruise. Went straight to airport.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
For the most part, smooth and orderly. Until you picked up your bags. If you don’t pay for Celebrity van transportation to the airport, you are on your own. No clear cut direction to taxi/other ground transportation. Too many maverick taxi cab drivers offering transportation to airport for $20.00. Based on pickup and cost per 1/10 of mile it appeared cost should be around $8.00.
