Review of the cruise with Celebrity by Cruisier

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Great itinerary and service; however, lack of security as for belongings. My camera was stolen under the watchful eye of the Photo Gallery attendant who saw the camera untended, but did not put it aside, and as a result it was stolen.

terrible experience by chung

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

I did not enjoy at all. I do not drink, you guys charge even water and coke or juice(smoothies) Your swimming pool is so small, that is the one I do to get exercise everyday. I could not enjoy the facilities that you have...size of swimming pool was so disappointed.... I loved maid services everyday... but I do not know you need to clean twice a day. One time a day will be enough for me. Your food was so boring....not high quality...

Wonderful Experience by TravelerRon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This was a 12-day Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona to ports in France, Italy, Croatia, and Montenegro. A wonderful itinerary (though port intensive). We took a few days pre and post trip to stay in Barcelona and enjoy this thoroughly remarkable city. The Celebrity Equinox is a very comfortable and entertaining ship. Due to the numerous ports of call and our late-dinner seating, we did not get to take advantage of everything the ship had to offer (mostly the entertainment in the theater). However, the entertainment in the lounges, at poolside, and in the main foyer was outstanding. Our balacony cabin was located forward on deck 8 and was quite comfortable. We did enjoy returning from an excursion and relaxing out on the balacony before dinner. Storage was quite adequate. The staff throughout the ship were very friendly and helpful. We did buy the Specialty restaurant 3-package. While we thoroughly enjoyed Muranos and the Tuscan Grill, the Asian Silk Harvest restaurant was a little disappointing. Also, I did not like the fact that when you purchase the 3-dinner package, Celebrity requires you to go to all 3 restaurants. Nevertheless, the overall cruise experience was totally enjoyable. Dubrovnik and Kotor were extra surprise treats that are very unique and interesting. We did all of our excursions privately and were able to add people from the Cruise Critic Roll Call board to make the excursions less expensive. I would give special recognition to Aldo of Aldo's Limos for a great tour of the Amalfi coast. He really puts his heart, soul, and knowledge of the area into his tours (and only 55 euros per person with 8 in his new MB van). Also, if you have been to Rome, think about a tour to Orvieto and one or two other small Umbria towns. From Villafranche, Eze and Monaco are recommended, but also try to make a stop in St. Paul de Vence, a wonderful little town of art galleries and cafes.

Amazing impressions by 19Vale47

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We got a lot of new amazing impressions from different country's attractions. Bad impressions from Dubrovnik: too expensive, peoples are malevolent. KV11 shore excursion is very cute visually, but Islands that we visited for beach and lunch absolutely not ready for acceptance the tourists. Bad sanitation, the meal uneatable and can be the reason of poisoning. The lower level of the guide. NPO4 is very good excursion, but long non stop way to Amalfi (more than 2hr without restroom) is hard test for not young people. One day of the our vacation has been stolen by security of Equinox. We got our baggage only about 7:00 p.m. in despite of we had priority to get it. The reason is the Iron in baggage. First of all, the ticket agreement not put a veto on Iron, Secondly, if it is a really dangerous using iron, the special iron room must be equipped on the ship in order to passenger could prepare their formal dress. Now you enforce passangers to take too expensive iron service.

50th Wedding Anniversary on Celebrity Equinox by IlyaValentina

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Overall my wife and I, also our children had a very good 12 day cruise on this gorgeous ship! The room acceded your expectations! The facilities throughout the ship were fantastic on each floor- beautifully designed, comfortable. We were very pleased with the musicians, playing many different jeanres of music. We would like to say special thank to our waiters at the Silhouette Restaurant- Martir and Suliana made dinners so enjoyable, they were so sincerely warm and friendly! We, however, have to mention that food was a bit of a disappointment, especially on the 14th floor. Despite the very big choice, almost all the food was deeply fried, very very salted. I hope food managers consider healthier choice in future! It was a bit ironic -traveling along the Mediterranean,- great fruits and vegetables producer, we were offered canned fruits and only once some strawberries, for example, (which cost very little in Italy). It was our first cruise and we hope to repeat the experience in future! We wish all the best to hard working stuff of the Celebrity Equinox!

Celebrity Equinox Mediterranean Cruise by BuckeyeBob

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We chose Celebrity because of the great experience we had several years ago with the service and the food. The service was excellent, but the food has gone down a little bit. It was excellent in the specialty restaurants, but in the main dining room it wasn't what it was before. That said, it was still better than the food on other cruise lines I've been on. The only other negative was the constant feeling of being hustled to buy something. Sales people were always standing in front of the shops shoving notices of sales of overpriced merchandise or raffles that really had no meaningful prizes.

Europe - Mediterranean 12 night Overnight Venice Cruise by AnneLesley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Thoroughly enjoyed the cruise did most of the excursions, would not recommend excursion in Montenegro, not much to see. Our stateroom attendant was exceptional. Waiter service in main dining room could have been faster and food a lot hotter.

50th anniversary by 1monthontheequi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The first thing is, whoever set this up needs to proof read their spellinG. My wife is in a wheel chair. We have been on 6 other cruises. The Equinox has easily the best accommodations of any ship we have ever cruised on. Everything about the Equinox is ex, but the handicap setup is superior, and made our trip quite enjoyable.

the title explains all...also we need a catholic priest aboard, especially on a long cruise...we had interdenominational service led by guest and over 100 guests attended each time and it has to be put in the daily paper..it was not this cruise...the entertainment was excellent and everything else...we have taken over 100 cruises and would sail Celebrity much more with religious services...

Enjoyable by sevenfish

The entertainment was the best consistently that I have seen on a cruise ship. The food was great. Had to be reseated 2 times in dining room. Would like more activities late Morning and early afternoons. All crew members were friendly and helpful, The shore excursions were not good in Teneriffe and Lisbon. Teneriffe, the guide had such a heavy accent he was hard to understand. The guide on the tour outside of Lisbon was not a guide. She talked while we were on the bus and on two stops, when we got off the bus, she disappeared after telling us where and when to find the bus. I felt ripped off. Next time I plan to find my own giude.

Equinox The Good and the Bad by flpalmgirl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Embarkation - Excellent; Room - three adults sharing room - very ample and balcony had three chairs and a table: great;bathroom - more then expected. Room attendant Francisco could not be better!!! On day three we did have a flood and had to be moved but they moved us to a like room (well we moved outselves) and on we went....thought they might give us some kind of dinner ticket or something for the inconvenience or maybe an upgrade but no they did not....thought being such a first class line they would send a note saying they were sorry....but NOPE. Ship itself was so nice not flashy at all the kind of décor I expected from what I had heard. Very clean! Entertainment - Not like any ship I have every been on...this was my first time on Celebrity - Comedians on the theatre stage not lounge areas;could not hear music a lot of the time seemed to be played too low for the grand foyer area. There was one group that came on for 15 minutes.....they called them the 15 minute wonders;the comedians wanted to know how did they get that gig;music by the pool ... wow this was really a disappointment UNTIL Southside came on board and then they were great but sure could of listened to them a lot more! Food: WONDERFUL.....ate in the Oceanview Café and the regular dining room and the only damper on this was that our head waiter could not speak or seemed to understand English or our wants/needs. Our asst waiter, Dirk, was great and he did his best but the boss is the boss couldn't very well ask him something instead of the head waiter. No visit from the maître D very unusual. Bar service at table was great! Bar Service: we bought the classic pkg which was great....no paper signing....no prblems for the whole EXCEPT when the two for ones for the "regular" customers came up everyday from 4-5 and 7-8....WOW three bartenders could not handle it....we would go to another bar and then come back with a drink because of course it being the most popular place on the ship you wanted to experience it. No matter when we went to the Martini Bar and the Passport Bar we were very disappointed in the service!!!!!! They were bad and you had to WORK for the drinks and I feel as though paying $506. a person (three of us) we should of been waited on. CONCIERGE LEVEL......no reason to pay for this...NONE AT ALL DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY......could not see one reason. Disembarkation.....Concierge level go to the SPECIAL lounge area for coffee etc and when we get there no one is there and since we are express walkoff we expected some consideration....another passenger came to the lounge and told us not to wait there if we expected to get express walkoff....so we moved. On our way I asked an officer of the ship if Concierge level waiting in the Concierge lounge got priority disembarkation and he said he could not help me go to Guest Relations....well everyone knows what that would of been like.....so do not bother with CONCIERGE level. Would I ever go on Celebrity again: NO; Princess and Royal Caribbean are our first choices.

Sailing to paradise by Cruisingforlife

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We began our trip with expedited check-in as part of the concierge service. The Celebrity staff were most friendly, ship was immaculately clean and food quality higher than expectations. We had superb dining room waiters, Alex and Fallu, who instantly became friends - not just staff. Our room attendants, Alan and Joseph, took extra care of our needs and also went above and beyond to make sure our 11 nights were free from worry. We have always sailed with Royal Caribbean and feel this is a step up to our previous 4 cruises. We would highly recommend Celebrity to our friends and family.

Equinox great ship by gccruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Had a great time on the cruise. The food was good and service excellent in the Silhouette dining room. Our waiter Alexsandar and his assistant Fallou were the best. They always made sure we had exactly what we wanted. We tried all specialty restaurants liking the Tuscan Grill the best. Also liked the fact that chairs were available because of the pool butlers removing towels on unattended lounges. Balcony room great, comfortable bed and roomy cabin and shower. Allen and Joseph were great and kept room very clean and tidy. Only downfall for us was the older crowd and not so much upbeat entertainment. We have cruised mostly on Royal Caribbean and just wanted to try Celebrity. Would definatly try Celebrity again.

Equinox Cruise Experience by gonewiththewind

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Cruise went very smoothly. Staff was attentive & helpful, especially for our stateroom and dining room. The ship is fairly new, beautifully appointed and maintained. Every area was pristine. Food was exceptionally good...first cruise out of our 12 that steaks were actually tender and lobster huge! All food offerings were delicious with thoughtful presentations. Ports of call were interesting, and entertainment aboard this vessel was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed this cruise and would highly recommend it.

Good cruise but I had better ones on Solstice by NSB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I sailed three times on Solstice, so I wanted to repeat the excellent experience. The first three nights' experience in the Main dining room spoiled our impression for the rest of the cruise. We were seated at the corner looking at a blank wall. I complained but got brushed of by the assist. Maitre d'. Finally I complained to the Captain's Club and it was resolved within 20 minutes. But it left a bad after taste. Afterwards it was a smooth sailing. The room stewarts were wonderfull, so was the room service and the entertainment. Not the fault of the cruiseline, the disembarcation was a night mare as fewer custom officers were assigned for a ship of this size. Please warn future cruisers not to make thight reservations. We missed ours and had to find alternative way to get home (expensive).

Best Cruise Ever! by CruisinCeleb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our cruise on the Celebrity Equinox was sensational! The ship, the food, the entertainment, and the service was outstanding. Having two days out and two days back gave us some much needed relaxation time. The islands of St. Thomas, St. Martin, Dominica, and Barbados were breathtaking. St. Kitts was disappointing due to a bad excursion experience. Our 4x4 vechicle was uncomfortable, had a leaky roof, poor visual opportunities, and exhaust fumes constantly chocking us. The beach was poor also. Celebrity took note of our experience and will contact the proper people. My advice is if you are going to cruise, take the time to relax. Don't do 7 day cruises. It's too much trouble (flying) getting to the boat and then you have to leave in a few days. the only thing I would improve on this cruise is the music. It tended to be geared to people in their 70's and 80's. A mixture of current and old would be much more enjoyable.

Not worth the price by henry

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Celebrity Equinox was not what it should have been. The food was mediocre at best. In the cafeteria the food selection was varied but not great. The cleanup crews which are not too plentiful as on other ships we have been on, collect dirty dishes but don't bother to wipe the table all the time. For an u[scale ship the food was not even on a par with some lesser expenssive ships. Not too surprising-- they have three specialty resturants costing as much as $50 a meal that need to be filled. Housekeeping was fine when they finally came around. We were at the end of they're line and they never modified it. Consequentlly it was allways late in teh afternoon before the room was made up. Its a beautiful ship thats resting on its laurels. The bright spot was the waiters for teh evening meal. They were super.
