Excellent first cruise by BernardGiroux

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We loved this cruise. The ship is impressive, extremely clean and well kept. We were satisfied with the few shore excursions that we took, but on the day-long shore excursions we would have expected better lunches given the cost of the tours.

Overall the staff was very pleasant. We appreciated the open-seating dinners in the main dining room. However the maîtres d's seemed stressed and disorganized. The food in the main dining room was below par and poorly presented for a ship rated 5.5. The dining-room is extremely noisy due to the lack of attention by the waiters while clearing the tables. The breads were not very good, but the pizzas were excellent. The coffee in the Oceanview Café was pretty awful, but the beverage package was well worth it and the speciality coffee at Bacio's Café was excellent.

Having dinner on the terrace of the Oceanview Café while looking at the Golden Horn in Istanbul was one of the highlight of the trip. We would hesitate taking again a cabin in the Concierge class. We do not think it was worth the extra cost.

For first-time cruisers we received excellent advice from our Cruise.com agent Kerri Winston.

Excellent staff and service.  Ship very nice and well-kept.  All I could ask for in entertainment and food.  The only real problems were the ports of call and some of the excursions.

Beautiful Ship by mplsroberts

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The Equinox is a beautiful ship, with a stellar crew. It is clean, easy to navigate. After one day, it is easy to know your way around the ship. For me I particularly like the blu restaurant and will always be part of the Aqua Class just to be able to eat there. The servers are spectacular. The food outstanding. It is an intimate setting that is unlike any other cruise option.

thugs at high seas by paulibonner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Transatlantic

Corporate Thugs, I would venture to say about Celebrity. I get up early in the morning about 1:30 AM – Shower – go topside. This day was very different. I played “Texas Hold’em” late in the evening. I get in room about 12 AM. There is a heart thumping music that could change your heart rate not only was it loud and coming there the ceiling. I did not sleep about 4:00 am plus or minus I was told for a security guard who was posted at a door of a guest that was on house arrest and this was before the ship left Florida.

The security guard told me to report it to the front desk… so I did. That sent a guy and he puts his ear on the wall. I stated I’m not stupid…

Then I was called a liar by workers when I reported bugs. I found insect body(s)….

I was pulled into a room with three officers and the security chief was a thug verbally abusing me, in my personal space… Three men and one elderly woman. They were treating me verbally abusive, loud and out of control. And they kicked my off the ship at the next port. They lied to me and illegally held me on broad for over six hours…. This was about 10 pm I think…I not know I was up for 36 hours…

The food was not anything to rave about either…

Long story short…

I am looking for an attorney… Know anyone?

Crossing Experience on the Celebrity Equinox by PatriciaDavis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Transatlantic

This was our first crossing, though it was our 10th cruise with at least half having been on Celebrity.  As expected, the cruise was fantastic and Aqua Class is a level we would recommend to any potential cruiser.  It is well worth the money.

The staff is efficient, warm, friendly and will go out of their way to ensure customer satisfaction.  We enjoyed the experience so much that we booked four additional cruises before we left the ship.  (They will be credited to you, since you were our original booing agent and we wanted you to get whatever commission there is that is available.)

BEAUTIFUL SHIP, FRIENDLY AND COMPETENT STAFF by linbil12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Equinox is a well-maintained, beautiful ship.  The itinerary is good, especially if you haven't done much traveling in the Caribbean.  Four days at sea and five islands is a great combination of touring and relaxation. The ship was able to pull right into port at each island, which made tenders unnecessary.  That is much more convenient for getting off and on the ship.

We had splurged and upgraded to a Concierge level cabin.  It was the average size that we're used to and had ample storage space.  The bathroom was slightly larger than normal and had a fairly spacious shower, plus a modern vessel-style sink.  There was a lot of bathroom storage.

However, we doubt we'd upgrade to Concierge level again.  We were supposed to have fresh flowers and fruit in our room.  We never had any flowers, and had three apples on our first day, which were never refilled.  You can order afternoon canapes, which will be delivered to your stateroom at the time you specify.  When we received ours on the first day, there were a half-dozen tiny things that we didn't care for, so we didn't eat them.  We were traveling with another couple, and they didn't eat theirs, either. We're not really sure we received any extra value for the extra money we paid for Concierge Class.  The early-boarding process was only slightly better than average boarding.  Save your money and purchase a normal balcony cabin, or splurge a bit more and buy Aqua class, which has its own restaurant called Blu.  We've heard several cruisers say that dining in Blu is a good experience.  If you want to treat yourself to a suite, you will have yet another restaurant specifically for that class.

The regular dining room, Silhouette, had better than average food and service, but still has some room for improvement.  The Ocean view café (buffet) had significantly better food than other ships we've been on.  We ate there more than usual because of the great variety and good quality of choices.  We also liked the fact that placards were placed on the café tables during prime meal-time hours, asking guests to please be considerate of others and don't play games or linger at tables when people need a place to eat.  Most people followed that suggestion.

The nightly entertainment was average, cruise ship fare.  There was a problem finding seats in the Equinox theatre unless you were at least 20 minutes early for the show.  There was an exceptional speaker who did a series of lectures during the day.  I can't remember his name, but he worked in a high level position with NASA and had many interesting stories to share.

If you are a pool person and sunbather, the outdoor pool can get quite crowded.  There are many loungers on the deck overlooking the pool area, so you might be slightly crowded, but you will usually find a spot.  The indoor atrium pool is a quiet and less crowded area for adults only.

The ship's fitness facility has an adequate number of machines, weights, balls, etc., so working out was never a problem.  We did not have any spa treatments, but we did notice that they ran "specials" especially on port days, so you might want to indulge yourself on one of those days.

Overall, there are very few negative things to say about this ship and its staff.  It is a beautiful ship that will provide you with a good experience!

Fantastic Ship & Cruise by shamancassi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Celebrity Equinox is a fantastic, fairly new ship. We found the crew to be friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful, and the entertainment like mini Vegas shows. There were plenty of excursions to choose from, and worth the price paid. We have been using Celebrity Cruise Line for all of our cruises for the past 7 years. we have had a bad experience with Norwegian when cruising the Hawaiian Islands. While Royal Caribbean offers larger ships, we haven't found the quality of food with them as with Celebrity. Also, we prefer not to have a lot of children on board.

Had a wonderful experience, would definitely love to take another vacation on this Cruise Line again. Loved being pampered all the time! At 1st. we thought 11 days were going to be too long on a ship, but with so much to do & see, we were never bored. Everybody  that worked there was so friendly.

Ultimate Caribbean Cruise by kathylew485

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We greatly enjoyed all the ports of call. Cartegena was a very interesting port with a great deal of history;. Loved the Popa Monastery, Fort Felipe and the tour through old town. Swam with the sting rays in the Cayman Islands, visited the Turtle Preserve, and Rum Cake Factory. In Panama we did a train trip that parallels the canal and in Costa Rica a must do is the Train, Bus, and Boat trip. We did some cave tubing in Belize and had a fantastic time at the Salsa, Salsa, Margarita in Cozumel even though I do not drink. It was great fun and came home with some new interesting recipes. The presenters are very entertaining.  The ship was very clean , room very spacious and entertainment was good. We enjoyed the select dining as we like to dine early and always were able to get a window seat table for two. We have cruised with celebrity previously and the cruise lived up to our expectations.

Short of expectations by billwauto

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Celebrity was the first line we initially cruised on years ago. Advertised as "gourmet" dining, it lived up to its name. Todays food pales in comparison, especially the buffet dining. Excursions were overpriced and emphasized the poverty of the countries. The cruises that followed were to the Southern and Eastern Caribbean on other lines, which we enjoyed immensely. Future cruising would be to the Southern Caribbean.

Celebrity Equinox Cruise by thecooper1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary by cruising to the Caribbean on Celebrity's "Equinox."  We visited St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Barbados, Dominica and St. Maarten.  The food in the main dining room was excellent, as was the buffet in the Oceanview Cafe, and we had no difficulty finding a table there.  As an Elite member, we were given many "perks", such as continental breakast in the Tuscan Lounge, invitations to many cocktail parties and cocktails with the officers, a backstage theater tour, a visit to the heliport from which the view of St. Maarten was spectacular, free Internet use and free laundry.  We particularly enjoyed DJ, Geo, who played ballroom dance music every evening for 45 minutes.  We.  also very much enjoyed the Celebrity orchestra when they played ballroom dance music one evening.  Being able to ballroom dance is one of the reasons we love to sail on Celebrity. Also, we enjoyed the "Burn It Off" exercise classes that were held on the deck.  We were disappointed that there is now a charge for zumba.  The shows were excellent, with the exception of one evening when the acoustics were so loud that we had to leave the theater.  All told, we had a wonderful time and couldn't have chosen a better cruise to celebrate our Golden wedding anniversary.

Worth the money. We enjoyed it very much. by crenglund2010

From the beginning, dealing with Lexi, until we exited the ship on April 6th, we really enjoyed ourselves.  The ship was decorated very nicely, our room was well-kept, the food was tasty and the housekeeping and food service was well done.  Nothing to complain about at all.

Life of Leisure by tmpettigrass

We have completed numerous Celebrity Cruises and this particular cruise was most enjoyable, including the weather.  Our table attendant (Mansur) and assistant (Hariardi) were execellent in providing our service and making their recommendations for our superb dinner choices.  As well, our cabin attendant, Marlon, was also professional and helpful in all respects and the above named are a credit to the entire Celebrity coporation as a whole.  We have already booked our next cruises for 2016, and looking forward to joining the Celebrity staff on board once again.

Started out with booking with Cruises Only. Never Again. by dranclan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

CryingLatina of Cruises Only made my booking a nightmare. I talked w/approx. 12 people and a few from Celebrity. Cruise itself wasn't bad. It was the beginning & end.  They lost one of our bags and said it was our fault (after the cruise) due to us not picking it up. It was a new bag we bought on ship as we bought a ton of souvenirs. When we saw our regular bags, it didn't even occur to us to look for a bag we had never used. Noticed it after we left and now they are charging us 53:00 dollars as they said we didn't pick it up.  It wasn't there to pick up as we took all the luggage in our pile and nothing was left, plus we had gotten down there late so they had plenty of time to have it there. For them to blame us for them not putting that bag with our other luggage & now charging us is crazy. I will write to corporate and once again be on the phone forever. Will never go thru cruises only to book and not even sure if we want to cruise again. We used to love it but this whole experience left a very bad taste in our mouth.  Thanks for nothing.

I've never cruised before, so I didn't know what to expect.  Everything from the customer service, food, room and activities exceeded every expectation.  The excursions were worth every penny. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking into experience luxury cruising to go with Celebrity. You will not be disappointed.
